Stumbled upon this video as I try my hand at being a healer. Installed both of these addons after watching and immediately loved them. Clique makes the macro binds stupid easy, and the grid is immensely lovely and simple. My favorite part about grid is how it shows you who is in proximity of your spells and who is not by simply highlighting the colors of those within distance. I was literally thinking about that before I started going into groups with grid and lo' and behold, there it was. Thanks for the suggestions!

Yes more of these, I'm leveling a healer (resto shaman) for the first time and atm I use elvui frames and have to make mouse over macros for everything. Your setup looks cleaner and after watching this is way easier to get going. Your vids are great, I started the shaman after watching some of your videos about it.

I use Healbot with great success. It basically combines Clique and Grid into one add on. It also shows hots or buffs like rejuv and glimmer automatically without having to manually add them. It's not nearly as clean looking as Grid or VuhDo but it gets the job done.

I tried grid and clique and found them to be unnecessarily complicated. I much prefer Vuhdo. It's UI is so easy to use and doesn't take forever to set up. I highly recommend Vuhdo and it has served me well for many years.
Just my opinion, but use which ever addon works best for your personal taste. Thanks for the vids, i enjoy watching them.

I just started raiding this week and struggled as I have typically always healed by keyboard numbers. Tried a few addons the past few weeks in an attempt to make my healing more fluid during high damage trash but couldnt find one with an appearance that I liked. Turns out i had both of these addons installed and while I couldnt get grid to look the way I wanted it too a few weeks back I had a decent play with it tonight after watching your vid and really like what Ivé set up. Thank you.

It is hard to believe how relevant this guide is. Last time I healed I think it was Wotlk. I remember being undecided between Healbot and Vhudu and then someone told me about Clique and Grid. I wanted to go back to the healing domain now, after all these years being a DPS/Tank. Was so fearful of the whole healer UI setup and new addons but there I am, finding this video. I've been using 'Vuhdo' and have found it to be quite good to work with and flexible, the 2 addons you mentioned are great but 'Vuhdo' works well as an 'all-in-one' combo. I've also never had it fail in raid which is what is most important to me, I tried 'healbot' once and it was a nightmare for stability.

Hear hear, I get 99 logs frequently and I use Vuhdo. It's admittedly not very new user friendly because there's just SO many options. I love not just having an icon for Glimmer and Atonement but also being able to make the frames really pop with information at a glance; coloured borders or a bar showing the duration. It's such a pity Blizz broke the AoE Scanner though, that was lovely.

    • @stepdad9953
      @stepdad9953 4 роки тому +1

vuhdo's coding is awful though. They don't keep up with a lot of debuffs and you have to end up adding a lot of boss and dungeon abilities. Vuhdo also has quite a few bugs that have been present since day 1 such as raid frames not updating when someone leaves or joins a raid group while you're in combat. Vuhdo also bugs out sometimes when you try to use rez or dispel something it just wont be responsive and you can't interact with mouseovers macros. It also doesn't auto size based on group size.

vuhdo is awful it didn't wana let me set up keys i wanted it was crushing all the time didn't like it. healbot however is awesome had only one problem that i notice in so manny years of using it. When u get dc/d mid fight in raid and come back to game sometimes it will bug out and only show you till fight stops then it loads to full grp.

Click + ElvUI raid frames, since you are using ElvUI, it is really easy to setup and it has basically everything Grid2 has, but main addon is definitely Clique no matte the raid frames. I really like the positioning and flexibility in ElvUI where you can move everything in the raid frames, just the filters are a bit messy in ElvUI.

@madSkillzTV - Awesome video, man. Its by far the best Resto Druid guide ive seen because you explain things well but also because nobody else really talks about addons and if they do, not in depth. I took up the resto druid and have had a lot of fun with it. I have been using HealBot and I know you mentioned it wasnt as popular. Can you elaborate on your opinion of it?
As for an addon I feel that you missed that some people may enjoy....Decursive. Similar principle to what Grid2 does but its explicitly for removal of negative effects. The squares are super super tiny so you can put them anywhere and you dont notice them at all. They are also very very faint, so you only see them when an effect is up. each square is a person in the group and its color coded by class. it simply puts up a countdown and gives a specific sound to tell you its happening and you just click the person. I found it much easier to notice and address these things without having to see an icon. Maybe youll dig it, maybe youll hate it but im sure some folks like me may find ti useful. Worth noting that because its "decursing", any class or druid spec with a decurse\cure can use it without massive healing frames.
Any resources for learning the mechanical rotation or philosophy of druid healing? I see a lot for different things where you shouldn't have excess mana and want to spend it or you shouldn't ever have to spot heal and all of these ideas that seem more niche than a rule. Maybe your approach can shed some light so some of us can be more efficient and make everyone's lives easier :)
Sorry to be long winded. I appreciate the work you put into making these videos.

The way you use grid2 it is completely not needed. I think since cataclysm you can configure the default Blizzard Frame like that by default. You can go to Raidframe settings and set it up almost identically. Check the option at the top right to "show groups like raids" so you have the same raidframe for groups (like 5-man Dungeons). The only downside is that you cannot see more than 3 buffs, but with the addon "BigDebuffs" you can show up to 6. You will have a better raidframe with that with like 30 seconds of configuring.

I have been mainly playing a healer for a number of years. So my advice is use Vuhdo, period. I have tried them all, and settled on Vuhdo. Vuhdo works pretty well out of box. Even use as is out of box, it has features other healing addons won't give you. As you grow to be a better healer, you can use more Vuhdo features by learning how to configure it. So Vuhdo will grow with you. Other addons are very limited in features so as you grow you are limited by the them. In short, pick Vuhdo and thank me later.

    My basic macro is
    #showtooltip
/target mouseover (or focus, or player)
    /cast Spell Name
I used to use Vuhdo or Healbot but the wow raid frames have improved so much I just use them now with mouseover macros. The only healer where I still use Vuhdo is disc priest. I need a BIG indicator and timer for atonement.
What I miss from Vuhdo and Healbot is the spells cast from a simple left or right click.
I don’t like using Alt or Ctrl modifiers, as my left hand has some disabilities.

Healbot my first and only healing addon I've tried. Mainly because I don't use custom UI. Healbot works fine for me for years now, probably because I only raid casually. My only dislike was that in a raid environment the layout can sometimes be a nightmare (as in it will cover most of your screen, although this is probably because I havent set it up properly). FYI I healed mostly on resto druid and resto shaman primarily, disc/holy priest and holy pally casually. I tried mistweaver and was successful a few years back and then they change it and I just lost interest in relearning again.

I'd love to see a more advanced guide. I've been using healbot for years, which is fine, but not quite as customizable as I'd like, and this grid/clique setup looks like it's providing more of what I want. But I need to learn about more functionality!

I use Hb to this day too... Its just so good for me to have option mousover or classic without doing any macro. But yeah customizeablity kinda suffers

thanks SO much. I was trying to find a way to show my Forbidden Obsidian Claw trinket from raid atk power when my haste or spell power changed, and I think this will do the trick. However, I'm not finding the item or the correct icon option to adjust it. I appreciate ya and could use some help identifying where to go to set that up. Basically, I want a visual cue that shows the trinkets atk dmg and mana refund in real-time so when my stats change I know when to use the trinket.

Using Healbot atm. I’ve had my keys be non responsive at least once a dungeon. Keybinds not working for 10 sec. then working again. Not fun. Going to try this. Thanks.

While this is a great tutorial, I would strongly recommend Vuhdo for new healers. Much easier to set up (and comes with generalized setups based on class/spec) and use IMO.

    • @TheFearedTwo

people always say vuhdo is easy to set up, but i've used pretty much every raid frame addon out there in the last 7 years and i struggle to get vuhdo to even function properly at all, all other's feel like a breeze but man it's like they made vuhdo complicated just for the sake of being complicated
