What the requirements are to get one and why you should get a DUNS number!

I will also go over some mistakes you'll want to avoid when applying for your number,

Most lenders won't accept UPS or ipostal store addresses anymore.
Best thing to do is to pay for a virtual office.
so just to clarify a bit, a virtual office address is the same as what you mentioned above (i.e. ipostal). you are right though, lenders will not accept these types of addresses (p.o box, virtual addresses, or even personal mail boxes/mail receiving locations, unfortunately. I've had to do some research into the why's and most banks will tell you it has to do with the Patriot act of 2001. while it may be true, it has to do more regarding something else but the banks usually won't tell you unless you ask probing questions. I have had to do research into what types of addresses they do accept. they accept your home address but this is not recommended because it becomes public information and google maps will list your home as your business address (the street view, which is what the banks use to verify your physical address). then you run the risk of people knowing where you live. so, again, home address is not recommended. you can also use your business physical address (this is where you are conducting business or running your business out of). another option is to pay for an actual physical address where you actually recieve mail but in an actual business like professional building because remember, banks will verify with google maps by looking up your physical address and see that in this case, it is an actual professional building physical address. banks or lenders don't want to see locations that look like mail receiving businesses. this is the costliest of all the options but it may be the best option for most. NOTE: ipostal does offer real physical address but please be careful in choosing a location that does not look like it is a mail recieving type of business. I just want to epound on what you stated for those who don't really know about this or don't know how to get started. thanks

Hi, why tying to create my duns number i realized that i already had one. im guessing my attorney who created my llc for me made me one. but, my personal email and i believe my phone number is associated with my duns .. is that a problem ? the address is fine its associated with my llc which i used a registered agent address. everything else is fine except that my personal email is associated with it and phone number . do i need to change that?

For the Duns number look up.. does street address, City, etc have to be the same as the virtual address we put down in our business? As well as the email? Is this for business credit file?

if you’re seeking funding you want to make sure your business structure is very professional. I made the same mistake and just now got done changing to professional number & email and I also got a virtual address
