Thanks for the review Nigel. Been wondering myself on this kit. I would not have expected this to have the detailed engine for one thing. Looks like you definitely got your money's worth in styrene and building time ahead!
Great video my friend what a fantastic kit and review looks a really detailed kit definitely gonna be a impressive display piece yes I agree about trumpeter they are one of the best at packaging will look forward to seeing you build it thanks for sharing 👍👍
Hi Nigel, Thanks for the great review. This looks like such a cool kit. I have the Dragon MAZ-543 Tel with the Scud in my stash. It is no where nearly as detailed as this kit. I'll be looking forward to seeing it built. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. Jeff
Nigel + I agree with you this is a modeling channel not a political channel keep it about model kits there are channels for political talk tell them to go to those channels god bless and stay safe
Great review Nigel, if memory serves when I built the Scud the chassis and suspension were the devil to align properly - this could be on a whole new level of nightmare if you got it wrong. As for the right cab, I think the unit commander sits at the front with the weapons tech sitting behind him during transport.
I'd have thought they would have needed seatbelts, they'll have been Russian all over the place. WAHEYYYY. Great review, looks a fantastic kit, worth your long wait for it. Enjoy.
I’ve seen a lot of Russian military equipment back in 98 when I was there and couldn’t believe the condition of some of these units most where rundown but still in service
People don’t complain about the plethora of Tigers, Panthers, etc that are built on most channels, machines from one of the most evil regimes ever, so why be worried about this one? I build almost exclusively Russian machines because to me they are more interesting, and for no other reason.
There's more to Russia than just Nukes, Vodka, and Ice Skating. It's a rich culture and a history of pushing scientific achievement. Often without much safety but Russians are built different mentally and that's the most lovable part of them. 👩🎨
@@NigelsModellingBench I know what you mean. Because of space limitations I have to mount every model I make in picture frames and display shelves up on the walls, not on any tables or sitting Plex cases. 👩🎨
I have a soft spot for modern Russian armour as well . As for paint schemes , AK real colour do a modern Russian paint set and they’re spot on colour wise
And I can agree, that russians have interesting machines. Trumpeter and HobbyBoss are ones that make them. Like the KET-T recovery vehicle based on MAZ 537 or BTM - 3 trench digger based on AT-T tractor and so on. They have many speciality vehicles for many things, and I have not seen something like that for USA or England. Maybe because russians habe so diverse treain that requires special aproach.
@@NigelsModellingBench and that makes them more interesting to build. I have wishlisted trumpeters ( or hobby boss) P40 radar system, that is based on AT-T chasy. Looks wery wery good.
Hi Nigel. Great video as always! Just one comment on your remark that Trumpeter listens to customers. Maybe they do for military vehicles and aircraft but not 1/700 ships. They stopped producing full hulls in 2018 and in spite of a great uproar to give us the option of full hull as well as waterline ship models they've turn a deaf ear.
@@NigelsModellingBench Well Flyhawk is in my opinion the best but they sometimes issue some waterline only. Then there are the Vee Hobby ship which are superb but waterline only. Anyway I've learned quite a bit of techniques from you that I can adapt and apply to scratch building hull bottoms😊
@@NigelsModellingBench Yes Nige, as soon as I can afford one, I will get one lol. It's coming out at somewhere between £110 to £120 from a few UK suppliers.
Dasha Models have said that they are waiting for it to be history before marking models with "Z", as she sees doing it now as political, waiting simply makes it a rendering of history. Seems fair.
Chunks out of clear parts are very topical for me nige,I've just noticed both sprue gates have been knocked off one of the upper turret halves where there is no frame to play with. So annoying.
Looks very cool. I’m loving these medium kits from trumpeter. Im working on their BR-86 right now. Take a look at my video if you like. I would love to know what you think. Thanks for showing.
The suspension on this model is a nightmare. Whoever designed this kit could have did a better job. All to make the parts count higher. I made it to this part, seen the nightmare and put the kit away to probably never touch it again!
I'm like you Nigel I actually have a soft spot for some Soviet military vehicles like their subs my favorite movie is "hunt for the Red October" ! but in no way do I support their ideology or what is going on between the two countries at the moment and you were saying something about their aircraft with paint chipping off it's actually because they don't take care of their toys look at their fleet of subs the are death traps leaking radioactive ooze I watched a documentary and they actually have a couple other countries coming in to help deal with their decommissioned subs.... they just don't take care and maintain their expensive equipment .. Awesome video my friend!
Having a military isn't in and of itself a good guy or bad guy endeavor of nations. As for the war, I hate it. NATO allowed an 8 years war in Ukraine to go from bad to worse, and Putin is risking more Russian security than he stands to gain with any victory. Other than that political stuff I love these nuclear missile transporters, I wish I could drive one. 👩🎨 More information about this weapon: ua-cam.com/video/nB_GBKiugpY/v-deo.html
Bought this kit also. Love it, beautiful detail but I am a Trumpeter kit lover with mainly heavy transport vehicles.
I agree with you, I think the su 27 Flanker is one of the most beautiful aircraft ever.

DO IT!!!! lol
Nigel,
What a great looking model. I always enjoy your content. Can't wait till you start the build. But till them I will enjoy your other videos.
Many thanks Sam. Right here right now i am making part 29 of the Lanc build.
Nice review, such a big cool subject!
Thanks for the review Nigel! I've been looking forward to this thing for so long - sort of want to design and 3D print a scale missile to go with it.
Do it!!

Looking forward to seeing you build this one Nigel
Mine arrived today from Germany it is indeed a beast
love your work us hardcore modelers know why you are making this kit...the wait is ova lol..thank you
Thank you for another excellent review.
My pleasure!
I've recently built their DF-21 Ballistic Missile Launcher. Amazing model.
One of trumpeters first.
@@NigelsModellingBench The launch tube in that kit came in two halves, so it was a challenge to get the seam lines sanded down etc.
The Zil 157 and SA 2 missile trailer is also a fantastic model with top notch detail.

Thanks a lot for this interesting review ! I noted the useful tip about the MRP paint for the tyres.
Glad it was helpful!
A nice kit and interesting subject nigel. I like the Russian T55 brilliant bit of soviet kit.

Thank you Dennis. I was just letting people know that if they took this down a political alley their comment would not be shown...
Cold launch and it’s a massive kit. Very nice indeed.
Shouting 'cold launch and its massive' doesnt help when talking about missiles 😉
Can't wait to see you building that nige it looks a right beast
And no mistake, mate!
Gotta get the Lanc done first mate.
In my wish list, good stuff Nigel

They are a lot of fun Philip. I really enjoy the "engineering" side of the hobby. There is no rear seat in the right cab mate?

I doubt it mate.. too much other stuff on my plate.

The US military has it's share of corruption. So I think it's more a symptom of large militaries in general.
