Hi UA-cam,
In this video I'm building AFV Club Centurion Mk.5 AVRE. I will be using mainly Mr Hobby, Tamiya, Scale Modellers Supply (SMS), VMS, Ammo by Mig and Abtielung 502 products.
Please see some useful links to products below:

I have not been paid by any of the companies mentioned to promote their products. All products have been paid for by me personally and promotion is for information purposes. However I am a hobby shop owner and I do sell most of the products mentioned to the public.
If you are down in the South West UK, you are always very welcome to come in and see me at the shop. scalemodelshed...
I hope you enjoy the video.
Have a great Christmas and New year!
Happy modelling
Andy
I love your weathering techniques. I feel like most modelers don't really understand how dirty tanks get. I was a tank commander on an m1 and I distinctly remember seeing weeds growing in the tightest nooks and crannies on tanks that had been field training for especially long periods of times. That should give you an idea as to how dirtied up they really are.
sounds about right lmao it's not like they're cars that gets washed every week
Not a tank crew, but I'm a heavy equipment mechanic and also see weed growing on machines.
I think it's mainly a question of intent. Do you want it to look like an active duty vehicle or more of a museum piece?
Amazing! I can see that this type of hobby is very engaging, from the models being built, to all of the accessories (air brush, etc.). Simply spectacular. Thanks for sharing.
Some of the best weathering I've ever seen. Jaw droppingly realistic
I crewed one of these for 5 years in Germany back in the 80s, they never usually had the hush puppy tracks, they were fitted to the REME Cent ARVs. Kit would look much better with the metal tracks that they usually had fitted but great work on the kit 👍
My only 2 points would've been remove more paint from the blade or add more rust and i wouldve gone more crazy on the mudd in the rear like some chunks that have been sprayed up from the tracks !!!
Other wise ive found a new hobby channel that i love and will definitely come back for tips to help me start making my own models !!! Great video
Results continue to be excellent. I do hope we don't see you go the way of some other channels with VMS. Their products are excellent, no doubt, but they also seem to be the brand most aggressive in getting channels to exclusively use their products and it can start making models look very 'samey' and preclude interesting alternatives. So whilst I hope any relationship with them is good for your business (who would not wish that!), I do hope we still see some variation from you, because it would be a shame to see you hemmed in.

I don’t think you need to worry about him being tied to one brand 😂
He used a variety of brands here. Plus I've never seen any of the "other channels" exclusively used VMS products.
Wishing you a great Christmas and a better 2023 🥃🍷👍
Scale modle shed your Tank model kit is awesome my friend
This is the coolest tank model
台湾メーカーのマニアックなパーツ構成は、メイドインチャイナとは異なる工夫があってすこ👍
Just a quick add on to your excellent vid: I drove one of these for 3 years in the 1970's and then went on to command one in the early 1980's before becoming the "Staffy" of a Troop which deployed to Desert Shield/Storm with three AVREs (plus two AVLBs and three Spartan CVRTs). It's a shame no one makes a matching model of the enormous 7.5ton trailer that they almost always towed. Incidentally, any paint on the face of the dozer blade scarcely survived more than a minute or so once the tank started dozing work, consequently the blade face never got painted unless there was some kind of parade or inspection coming up. The exhaust outlets were always completely rusted and the paint on the exhaust covers blistered and burnt off very quickly (from the centre top, outwards).
REspect Sapper 🙂
There is a trailer model, by accurate armour. But expect its ridiculously expensive. I was AVRE crew-9Tp.
I was 31 Ftrs Cent Arv commander for awhile 👍
This yank. Thanks you for your service 👍🏻💥👊🏼
Ex 26. 84 to 92 😎🥳👍
I really like how you jump between armor and aircraft models. I like to build the same way. It keeps things fresh.
nice work
Mighty fine build.
Merry Christmas
AFV Club is made in Taiwan, great stuff!!
that has to be one of the finest modeling vidios i have ever seen !
Incredible Art.
And my very expensive Accurate Armour AVRE is still in the stash....😁
Why couldn't this kit be released earlier...
Just sharing something I went and looked up: CARC Green and Black are Cold War era ‘Chemical Agent Resistant Colours’ They are a real acronym, not a fancy name SMS came up with. Well, we’ve all learned something new today… 😉
Except for all those clever buggers who knew already…
You are correct. CARC paint is a Cold War paint that was supposed to repel any chemical agent that got onto it and make decontamination of vehicle a lot easier. Also, it is a cancer-causing paint. It was supposed to be most lethal in liquid form thus persons actually painting a vehicle had to where certain chemical protective gear/breathing apparatus. Once the paint dried it was AOK. AND - something that we learned the hard way while in the military, the cancer producing agents from CARC paint was also supposed to be quite lethal if the paint was burned off of a vehicle (like if a vehicle was burning after being destroyed in combat). PLUS - my favorite - this stuff was also supposed to be lethal if you were trying to grind through the paint with a grinder, thus producing DUST. We were told by our officers that using our GAS MASKS would protect us from breathing in the dust except nobody bothered to provide us with appropriate filters for the masks!! I was a safety representative in my unit during the 1990s and had to learn all about this crap - quite scary what CARC paint was capable of doing to the human body - surprised that I am still alive after messing with that stuff. Your comment brought back a flood of memories dealing with that stuff.
@@jamesbednar8625 another one of those “prevention is worse than cure” ideas. Great idea, poorly executed. How Army like? 🤨
Gorgeous!😮😊
Great build and paint job. Superb weathering techniques very clearly demonstrated and explained. Thanks so much for sharing! I'll visit your website to purchase and try out some of the materials you used.
That was such a good watch, it turned out amazing great job!
Great job, it turned out really nice.
Merry Christmas to everyone.
great weathering, I had a lot of benefits:D
The verb for weathering tank tracks should be "to sutcliffe"
Really cool.
Back when i was doing 1/35, i always tried to have a ball of specific gauge string to hand for excellent tow ropes, plus, old guitar strings were my friends as far antenna`s went.
Amazing techniques, now for this mere mortal to attempt to recreate at least one of them.
My only negative comment would be on the use of rusting on the vehicle chassis. If this is meant to represent a vehicle in military service I know for a fact that the crew would be in all sorts of ka-ka allowing rust to form on anything other than the exhaust. Even there they would be in trouble. Just a comment on an amazing transformation.
That centurion looks nice!
Great job. Amazing weathering details
Tank looks like a lowered sedan with aftermarket parts haha..awesome build.
Great kit but no cockpit detail???
One thing that's better with this kit no more stupid rubber tyre's! It was the first thing I noticed when opened my box!
You have done a lovely job on it! Thinking of starting mine next after this stupid leopard leguan bridge layer hobbyboss have released its all WRONG what a surprise eh lol 😂
Wow! Impressive! Nice work.
Nice
“SO I STABBED THEM REPEATEDLY WITH A SCALPEL and that did the trick” 😂
The Michael Jackson of tank building.
very impressive and beautiful work
Great video and very informative re weathering. Thanks.
I have the Amusing Hobby vesion 1:35 in my collection waiting to build.
Hi, did you end up using K54 part the new sprue for the other hatch next to driver? There's nothing on step 18 saying to use any periscope there is not one that fits on clear sprue but this green on fits and has a bar handle like a sub periscope handle!
Absolutely amazing builds! Subd.
What airbrush do you use? Great work
WOW!
tracks on tanks are made of rubber?
What do you do with the models and dioramas you complete?
I have a question. What airbrush do you use? I have been thinking about buying one for over a year, but I don’t know which one to buy.
What version is this model Australian or British.
Simply marveluos work. Incredible and beyond realistic. Congratulations...🙂
Sir: You are a artisit!
36:15 it looks like a swivel chair, it can't be a chair surely?
I've just seen you have a 1/32 Lancaster 50/50 clear model kit - do you plan on showcasing this or even making it? Would look amazing I'm sure, would love to see it as it's WAY out of my price range :(
What is your preferred make/type of masking fluid, please? Great work, by the way!
Великолепная работа! Поздравляю с постройкой!
How much is this kit
Класс
I would not want to be the guy assigned to that office chair on top the turret.
Not sure why you people don’t use modelling cement correctly.🧐🤔
Does the kit already have workable suspension and (spinnable) wheels? I'm considering a kit like this (AFV 35100) and I'm looking for that. There is that workable upgrade kit but the parts look quite similar so I need to know if I'd want that upgrade kit or not
Someone needs to drive over to the factory and slap some engineers around...pin marks on the outside?.... Peace!
ok
Well you just about nailed it with the dozer blade, not many worked to dig positions as it always blew the hydraulic lines and being in trouble cost wise for the clean up operation, was obviously an issue to the govt.
Thing that made me laugh was that farmers used to collect the the old tank tracks that jumped off tracked vehicles due to rough terrain, and weld them on farm vehicles and make outrageous damage clsims to the govt.
An exercise would end when the money ran out.
I look back now and pmsl.
Great build mate you obviously did your homework.
I would say going forward there are other products available, keeps the woke crowd subdued lol
I gotta be honest, your scheme is a little weak. The black needs to be sharper and it just looks like the guy painting it didn't want to do it. Lol. I live your finishes and I'm just very underwhelmed by this one.
Just wanted to say I absolutely love your presentation style and clarity. Everything is explained in detail with clear reference to the products you are using. I just ordered a Centurion AVRE along with many of the products you listed in your video to attempt my own build in the coming weeks! Keep up the great work.
In my minds eye I see a crew with a lot of paint and brushes, with a csm turning purple with rage.
Best 41 minutes of my day
I like your building videos. They are very informative...and most important to me, you talk what's necessary. Some modelers talk and talk and talk endlessly. Thank you!...
Hi, I m from Italy,Naples, do you ship orders also here? Or only in Uk? let me know, thanks.
I have the AFV Club MK5 With Dozer. Could it be converted into an israeli version?
Very nice it looks but u missed out shaved dolphin
s hit. 😂
Obviously u have a shop but the cost to buy that lot u could get a real tank
Fantastic work Andy! Thanks again for showcasing our paints and showing how they work perfectly well with many other brands and types 😁
Great video - I'm just building the AFV Club Mark 5 and your video is very helpful for the build, paint and weathering. Thanks for posting.
hi do you know where the real bloodhound is that your model is based on
Wow. That's it. just wow.
Lol those from wot console after the most recent update
What’s with the silly black gloves?😂
Andy, I just subscribed to your channel. The first one I saw was the Fairey Swordfish. Your skills are amazing! I've been modeling since I was 7. RC, plastic kits, you name it. I am 51 years old and your skills are absolutely mind blowing! You have the skills of a world champion! Did you ever go to competition? In my humble opinion, you should! Your builds put a huge smile on this geezer's face! Damn!👍👍👍😁😁😁
I worked at Bovington. Not the Museum. But the base repair workshop.Abro,DSG. Occasionally there would be a Cent in for work. And they were my favourite tank. From when I was a kid seeing them come past our house,on “Mighty Antar tank transporters” on the way to Portland. To go to Egypt (Sues crisis) ,and Cyprus. They were always my favourite tank.
At Bovi my mate used to drive them, after the work needing doing, and they had steel tracks. So coming down the hill, and turning into the main road towards the workshop,(Past Lawrence of Arabia’s cottage) they had to come round very slowly or they would drift! Terrific British tank.
Absolutely Beautiful model.
I was after it for 2 years waiting for it got the first batch and it's sat I'm the stash since! JUST got so much on the bench but I'll built it in January when get the scammel commander from hobbyboss to put it on the back
As an ex royal engineer, this has always been one of my favourite bits of kit, though unfortunately never had the chance to work with it, fantastic model really good job!
Sorry to hear of your demise luke. The only Ex Sapper is a dead one mate.
you make this look hard to build
Great weathering, exhausts and gun covering particularly. Never managed to get mud & dust looking completely natural myself but this is marvellous. A good eye etc.
Correct me if I'm wrong, is that the tank the late queen Elizabeth II rode in a military parade in England?
Great but why the gloves
I think u remember you said you stock VMS products to me once before can you tell me what shop to look for online please?
It seemed a tad strange to see the turret basket sitting on the engine deck but then I thought of the different reasons why they might detach it. I think maybe the story here is that it also has a fascine frame and if the fascine is being carried you'd not be able to reverse the turret if you needed to.
INCREDIBLE...Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Great State of Texas
Could we see a Panther G ?
Any suggestions for someone that wants to build Iceman’s Tomcat?
You need the thumbnail to bulldoze the dentistry cause of what they did to your teeth
I remember one of these brought to Northern Ireland to clear barricades in the troubles.
I cant believe i havent found this channel before!! i just subscribed 😊
its so wonderfull but i think its too much sandy.
9.5/10😍
Do a diorama for it
Just in time for my train ride 🎉
Bellissimo
I randomly came by your channel after falling off with my tank modeling 10 years ago. I have thousands and thousands (and probably ten more thousands) of dollars invested into the hobby. I built only WWII Tanks in 1/35. I would strongly suggest that you create some weathering tutorials. I would love to watch them, and they would be invaluable for new and experienced modelers! You are an absolutely incredible artist. Thank you for inspiring me to find some joy in the hobby again!
and yes I know this is a modern tank :)
Why the perch on top of the turret? What was it used for?
Andy, that was hoofin’, what a great video.
