Which Did It Better? - SCX24 vs TRX4M vs FCX24 - Rock Crawling at UK Scale Nationals

- Trying out the SCX24 Bronco, TRX4M Defender and FCX24 K5 on the mini rock course at the UK Scale Nationals. Which one do you think did it better?
They all have their pro's and cons. I actually enjoyed using the SCX24 the most this time, it was the smoothest to drive over all the obstacles and with the heavier wheels it was more stable than the FCX24, which is very top heavy. The TRX4M although smoother over the terrain, I found frustrating with it's lack of throttle control.
You can see the FCX24 really does need oil filled shocks to better soak up the terrain and definitely needs some more low down weight to counter that beautiful but heavy body.

I really like them all , and whatever one is running and not broken is my favorite !
🤣🤣🤣 That's a good choice!
Thankfully so far I haven't had any breakages on my mini crawlers. 👍
Cool course, great driving! Really enjoyed watching, and thanks for the comparison!
Thanks very much, appreciate it and glad you enjoyed it. 👍
The FMS Blazer looks so cool. It's not so toyish. Awesome ride. Great vid.
Thanks very much 👍
Yeah it's a great looking rig. I really like their latest Unimog too, that's my favourite in green. 👍
Man I love your course, every obstacle shows you how everything is working 👍👍😎
It's a great course isn't it. Not my course unfortunately, was the mini course at the UK Scale Nationals 👍
That was nice right oh that rock, it was cool how the front end came up at the top but then settle back down cool. Love watching the suspension work that’s the beauty of this awesome hobby yeah 👍👍😎
Yeah I love watching the suspension work too. Be sure to check out my Crawling & Trailing playlist if you want to see more like this. 👍
Really exciting to watch! Needs a lot delicate control and just like real rigs on trail.
Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed it. 👍
Back watching again, black K5 looking awesome out there. That was a nice climb
Thanks very much mate 👍
The FMS was smoother & just looked awesome out on the trails. I have a upgraded TRXM Defender & SCX 1/24 with Furitek & I just got the FMS & it’s pretty much my favorite. Thanks for taking us along.
It is a fantastic looking rig isn't it. It definitely needs some low down weight as its one heavy hard body. I just oil filled the shocks on the FCX24 and it's so much nicer now and looks much more scale. 👍
Not sure completely about smoothness, better low speed control but way louder.
@@josecanedo007is there a way to make it quieter? Different gears or motor or something?
Great video, thanks for sharing
Thanks very much. 👍
I have the black K5 and the orange and white waiting on the silver one from fair RC their first modded version I just love driving these little Chevy blazers they look so awesome on the trail really appreciate your video I’ll be watching for more
Thanks very much 👍
They're great little rigs aren't they. I just oil filled the shocks and it's so much better now, looks really good on the trail now. More videos coming soon of all 3 rigs. 👍
Im not new to RC but fairly new to the trx4m and love these things. Fleet is up to 5 now after this new Ranger. Thing that caught my eye in this vid were the cool obstacles using popsicle sticks, soforth. 👌
Yeah they're cool little obstacles aren't they. 👍
It looks like a fun competition 👍 Nice friend🎶💪👌
Thanks very much mate, yeah was challenging and good fun. 👍
@@DoURC 👍😁
Great video, thanks 👍👍
Thanks very much 👍😁
@@DoURC ok bro 🤗
It's hard to decide which one did best.
Looks like great fun out there, even for the tiny trucks 👍
Yeah was a great event. The mini course was a good challenge too.
I actually preferred running the SCX24 the most, it was the middle ground between the TRX4M and FCX24. 👍
@DoURC those scx24 definitely great fun (I've just got myself another one). This Bronco body looks amazing on the trail, but it's really bad for crawling. Lots of weight must be added to the bottom for them to perform.
@adamskirc Yeah, they're very top heavy. Lexan bodies are definitely easier to crawl with, but I much prefer a hard body. 👍
@DoURC hard body definitely wins in a beauty contest, I've picked up a lexan jeep body for one of the scx24 to see the difference.
@@adamskirc I bet it'll be quite a difference. 👍
The one screw that holds the C Hub on I took the screw out and put it in from the backside you get more steering if you look turn full steering and you’ll see the knuckle hits the head of the screw just a little bit gives you more steering just thought I’d share
Thanks very much, great tip. I literally just finished editing a how to video with tips and that was the first tip. 👍
Video will be up on Wednesday 👍
Although with the hardbody the rear still seems to be light, i’ve got a little brass on the front of my orange and white one nothing to the back yet. Nice driving by the way 👍👍😎
Yeah the K5 definitely needs some more low down weight, the hardbody is very heavy compared to the chassis. A slightly wider wheel track would help too. The SCX24 is so much better with the Injora wheels and wider track width. 👍
Thanks very much 👍
Really like the k5 from fms. Probably picking a couple of them up for myself after purchasing so many scx24’s to get my kids started in the hobby.
They're good, FMS will be releasing a new model soon too. 👍
@@DoURCwhich one?
Yeah awesome here watching now
Thanks very much 👍
Nice video bro👍🏽✌🏽💪🏽
Thanks very much, appreciate it 👍
I like it so much I’m watching it again yeah 👍👍😎
Awesome, thanks very much and glad you enjoyed it. 👍
damn I miss the UK sometimes 🤫 I keep looking at the trx4m's but I seem to prefer the hard body of the scx24 Bronco. What tires were you running on the Bronco? ... and that FMS does look nice.
I was running Injora steel wheels and their Super Swamper copies. They're better suited to mud really.
I've got comparison videos of all 3 in my Mini Crawlers playlist if you want to see how they compare. Also check out my videos on the FCX24. With oil filled shocks and brass wheels it's a beast. The hardbody on the FCX24 is lovely too. Any questions let me know. 👍
Thanks forget great vid. I love the look of the K5 but it seems incredibly loud hey?
Yeah it's the gearing, as its a 2 speed, so first is quite loud. 👍
@@DoURC thanks! Pardon my ignorance. Are the gear changes automatic or is it manually selectable between 1st and 2nd?
@fabLS1 No worries, it's manually selectable on the transmitter. You can switch between first, neutral and second gear. 👍
Very nice track and driving. This must be the best place to be at.
Thanks very much 👍
Yeah it's a really good event and a great place to crawl. Check out my RC Events playlist if you want to see more of it and other RC Events 👍
@@DoURC Yes. I enjoy your videos. I hope that more people will see them also and maby be inspired to have crawl events in my country also. Take care.
@karefpv2163 Excellent, thanks very much. Yes more RC Events would be great everywhere. 👍
That looks so chill and fun. The competitions in the US don’t appear to be fun based from what I’ve seen.
Yeah this was just a fun event. You can take part in the comps at the event too, but I just prefer having fun. 👍
Love the comparison brother, taking g the same lines with each rig is key for a control run, excellent job!!, I love all these rigs but my favorite would be the trx4m because of the tight quiet gear mesh, the oiled shocks and smooth operation, there's nothing I hate more than a jumpy bouncy little rig lol, thanks for the great video 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks very much 👍
Yeah I don't like like bouncy or noisy rigs. The FCX24 is so much better now I've oil filled the shocks and upgraded the wheels and tyres. It is still louder than the TRX4M, but I think that's partly down to the 2 speed. 👍
Sorry I’m blowing you up. But I just found this video those are the tires and wheels I was looking at. Are those wheels on the trx 4m metal or plastic just a different color?
The wheels on the TRX4M are the stock plastic wheels and stock tyres. Wheels and tyres on the FCX24 K5 are stock and wheels and tyres on the SCX24 Bronco are metal with Injora tyres 👍
You drive the Blazer the best in my opinion. Was it your favorite at the time?
I liked it the most, but at the time I think the SCX24 actually performed the best. 👍
Has there been a gearing change in the Traxxas in this video? Thx
No I think it was still stock at this point, but not 100% sure as it was a while ago. 👍
With the right shocks, that FMS might be unstoppable
It's really good. I've oil filled the stock shocks since that video and it's sooooo much better. Check out my Mini Crawlers playlist if you want to see more. 👍
I ordered some long travel shocks I'm pretty excited about for my fcx24. Its the worst thing about the truck for sure.
very nice 😊💪👍👋
Thanks very much mate 👍
Once I put the oil in my shocks doesn’t roll over like that any more well appreciate the video I’ll catch on the next one until then peace and chicken grease 😁👍👍😎
Yeah it definitely helps stabilise the body doesn't it. 👍
Thanks very much, appreciate all the comments. Have a good one. 👍😎
I am interested in buying a charger for an all-terrain car as a child, can someone help me?
Check out my Reviews playlist, I've got a review of the SkyRC T100 which is a really good charger. 👍
Had the TRX4M the low range gearset installed?
No completely stock. 👍
Try comparing it with SG PINECONE FOREST 2402 please🙏
Yeah I've seen that, not too fussed on it though tbh. I'd imagine with that metal body it'll just fall over more than the SCX24! 😬
Great 👍
Thanks very much 👍
I’d put the O rings In my shocks on the orange and white one big difference
Yeah I've just oil filled mine, so much better now. 👍
Very cool comparison. I'm sure every truck's awesome, but I'm still a SCX/AX24 guy😉
Thanks very much mate 👍
I actually enjoyed running the SCX24 the most on that course, it was a happy medium between the TRX4M and FCX24 👍
I am a beginner and looking into RC crawling. Which one would you reccomend?
If you mean out of these 3, I'd say the FCX24, but I prefer the newer FCX24 Unimog.
Check out my Mini Crawlers playlist to see reviews and comparisons. 👍
What did u end up going with? In my opinion the trx4m bronco is the best performing straight out of the box.
@@superstatus2640 I got the Scx24 Bronco. I'm happy with it
Scx24 for the win Nice vid
I enjoyed using the SCX24 the most here, was a nice middle ground. 👍
Thanks very much 👍
Dream RC cars
Thanks very much. 👍
All affordable too being mini crawlers. 👍
Need to see the rock van in action next time. 😊
Yeah I haven't ran it for a little while. I'd say the FCX24, SCX24 and TRX4M are all more capable than the Rock Van though. 👍
@@DoURC I've a heavy moded scx24 gladiator and fcx24 and the van is just as good for complete standard. I say good wheels n tires and it'll keep up with the best with very little extra cost
@jaystarmini That's cool. 👍
The thing I found with the Rock Van was the motor/gearing was a little too slow and the stock shocks were quote short.
As its a lexan body it is lighter, so more stable than a hard body mini, but those big bumpers do get in the way a bit, similar to the front bumper on the TRX4M.
I'll give it some love again soon, just been too busy with everything else. 👍
@DoURC keep up what your doing it's getting me out aswell and added little videos of what I have aswell plus little course set up in the garden for when I can't get out
@jaystarmini That's the great thing about the mini crawlers isn't it, you can enjoy them at home as well. 👍
Where did you get the trx4m blazer body? Lol
🤣 If it was a trx4m it wouldn't have been so good! 🤣😬
It's the FCX24 K5 👍
@@DoURC ohh I gotcha thanks for the info!
Incredibile skils
Thanks very much 👍
Houston we have a problem roof rack tiny too tall 😁👍
🤣 I know, I was like, oh, well that ain't going to fit!
Trx4m
👍
Fms sounds ruff 😮
It's the two speed, it's very whiney in 1st due to the gearing. 👍
👍 but fmx need tires
The stock tyres aren't too bad. I'd say it needs heavier wheels more than anything, to counter that heavy body. 👍
🖐😁👏💯👍✌️
Thanks very much mate 👍👋🤘
