Beauty of a job mate 🖒look showroom new. Encouraged me to get off my arse and get my alloys that are sitting doing nowt cleaned up and sold. Thanks fella for video!
Haha thanks for watching
Amazing finish.
Thanks mate
Amazing work man, keep it up
Thankyou
Another top job👍👍👍
Thankyou
Hi mate great video. Just one question, when you sand down the scratches, it removes material. How do you stop it from looking bumpy? Do you ever weld or filler over really deep curb damage and then sand down? Thanks would love to know
Thanks you sir .true professional
Thanks for watching
Nice job mate,,,,,,,,from NZ
Thanks NZ
Awesome video
Thankyou 🙏🏼
Thanks for all your videos, wish I had your skills. Only thing I'd do differently in this video is I would have covered the car in the garage. I learned that the HARD way!
The overspray is minimal on this repair but not a bad idea to cover nearby vehicles
Greaaat Thx man from France
Bonjour 👍🏼👍🏼
Great Video Thanks - Do you also lightly sand the black paintwork in order for the lacquer coat to key
Yes key up with red scotch or something similar 👍🏼
Nice work, im fixing my Volvo BOR 19 inch rims and I wonder one thing, do you have to put clear coat on the brushed faces?🤔 I don't think the oem Volvo rims have it on the brushed surface 🤔 could be wrong
clear the whole wheel. bear in mind some finishes might be a matte or satin clear
Subbed! What are you using for a wheel stand to hold the rim while you're working on it?
Been at this for 16 years and love to see new techs and how they do a repair. I'm always trying to learn new ideas, tricks and knowledge to get better at the wheel repair trade. I appreciate your videos and hopefully will be joining and contributing to the wheel repair video community soon. You're the only one so far, can't wait to see it grow.
Thanks for the feedback mate. Its just an old black and decker workmate. The back of the van has proper wheel booth etc
@@The-rave-room I'm not CVR-POV but pretty sure he scuffed the rest of the wheel (painted inserts) with a red scotch bright pad. You can buy them at you local automotive paint supply store.
At least that what I use and do.
@@The-rave-room yes mate all over
@@The-rave-room what do you mean scotch?
Great project i really enjoyed it,and i know that your next project will also be greater
Glad you enjoyed it thanks for watching
What psi did you spray with
Great video, I don’t have a rotary polisher but have a da, can this be used instead? Cheers
Yes. Takes longer, but yes
Can you please do a video on mixing paint
I've just done one pending editing/upload
Is there a way to refresh the black trims in diamonds mags? I have GTI mags and I am thinking to remove curbs and refresh the chrome, but I’d like to also refresh the black trims, the paint is a bit faded. Will gray scotch-brite and gloss lacquer will refresh it?
Thanks
I would of thought so yes
Nice work. ....can i use a d.a sander or rotary is better? I have both
Rotary is better
Any videos in the works for a fade or blend in wheel repair on a matte/satin finish wheel (Audi or ?) and any videos on repairs on 2 tone wheels with damage on both face and insert?
Appreciate the videos.
Also in the description it says rotary polisher/buffer. Is it a DA Sander or a straight Polisher/Buffer ? I noticed with pressure the pad kind of slows or stops, so I'm guessing Dual Action (DA)?
Apologies if I missed it.
Thanks!
Its a rotary mate. My normal one broke so I bought a backup cheap one which slowed under load
I'll bear this in mind mate
What grit did u use?
Im in the smart repair trade myself after leaving body shop seen most of your vids and some nice repairs, one thing id say to people who are watching is that u cant just put any lacquer on a repair like this it has to be etch lacquer so it bites into the bare metal just as you would use etch primer on bare metal on body panels. Other then that nice work mate
Hi Johnny. Thanks for watching. Its actually 2k and seems to hold up pretty well. Obviously different products will differ
@@cvrpov were are u based mate whats your main source of work do u mainly deal with private/retail work or dealership/trade work
Based derby notts etc. I did trade for 15yrs now all retail
Nice job. I thought there was silver paint under the clear coat. Is it really just pure metal?
On this type of repair yes
mint stunning i would be delighted handed back them rims on my car
The customer was very happy mate
Nice work! How long is 4 rims?
its a process that takes a few hours mate
AMazing
Thanks for watching
I like the video, thanx. What I am wondering is how you get the tire "loose" from the rim so you have more space for sanding the rim. Removing only the air will probably not help ;-)
I have a bead breaker on the van. Its not detrimental that you do this with the tyres, but it does help
How much material do you actually take off the wheel going to spin the same is it going to look like it's not as deep on one side is it going to show the fact that one side higher than the other
I understand what you are saying and thought the same when I first started doing wheels. Rounding off and reprofiling can be achieved without a visible dip in the area if its feathered out properly. Its amazing how well it can be done aswell
Did you rub the black paint before you sprayed the lacker ?
Key with grey scotch
How can you replicate the fine line groove from the machining?
Several videos I've made explain various ways to achieve it
Wowoowowo Great🤩...🇧🇷
thanks
Would it be easier with a smaller sander
No. The bigger disc makes it easier
It has to colour.which colour did u apply?
It is just clear lacquer over the whole wheel
how much would this cost if i took mine to someone ?
55-75 roughly
Lmao 🤣 so easy to do thank you 😊
No problem
Seen in a few videos from you now, dont you sheet customers cars when you are spraying? paint particles blown around in the air have just gone and rested all over the very car you are sorting in the garage lol
If needed I bag the cars up.. which i do most repairs. The overspray dissipates quickly and in this video it goes out the garage door within seconds (thats why I was near the door). Thanks for watching
Is that clear coat
Yes
Is the lacquer coat colorless?
Yes
🔥 284 👍
You are to sick, how do i get hold of you
.... And you need to balance those wheels
Never had an issue not balancing wheels after refurb, never heard of anyone doing this either (I know alot of techs)
@@cvrpovhere in SoCal I’ve never heard of anyone balancing a wheel after, you would have to remove an insane amount of material for that to even be relevant, in that case you have other issues, you might as well buy another wheel or get it re machined at the machine shop.
Nice vid, but jee chewing gum in the mic is annoying as heck...
It was a sweet out the customers car sorry 😅
@@cvrpov hope it was a good one 😂
Bruh are you chewing on hard candy or something?? I couldn't take it had to find another video
Haha I did have a hard boiled sweet for some of the video
Lol
You eat to much from aluminium
😋
