when you take tokyo quickly it gives your puppet half your navy the islands and korea, if you do it slowly they dont get half your navy the islands or korea so its actually better to do ti slower

I think you can get everything at the end of the civil war. Just make sure to only take Tokyo when that makes them 100% towards cap.

The Japanese foucs tree is among my favorites, lol. Really only the historical path - but not actually playing historical.
I dont mind this tree though. The civil war sucks. But tbh, with the navy Japan starts with the game isnt challenging. So blowing half of it up and loosing the best admirals adds a nice challge.
