WOW, what a great video!! We just loved this! Soooo helpful to have the teardropped-shaped markers dropped into the video where the buildings you were speaking about actually are, and love the mix-in with streets other than (but still including) Kalakaua. Very informative, well-presented, and extremely helpful! Also, what an *incredible* wealth of information in the info box - so many links to the things you referenced and great list of timestamps. The amount of work and attention to detail is amazing. Thank you for all you did and all that goes into pulling something like this together. Aloha and mahalo!
Dang! I barely recognize Waikiki anymore! It’s been 30 years since I was stationed on KMCAS. Lol It’s pretty sad to see the high-end/corporate take over of shops. All the little independent places are gone. Especially on Lewers St. Thanks for your videos! They’re very well made and informative!
@@YestoHawaii It did....we've watched several of your videos in preparation for our trip. We're travelling from Miami, so the information you've provided about O'ahu has been invaluable. We planned our itinerary based on many of your recommendations. Thanks again.

Love your thorough walk through vlog of Waikiki., Waikiki has change so much since I’ve left my home in Hawaii Kai. Thank You this walking tour throughout from Ala Moana to end of Waikiki.
Great tour! We have been to Waikiki three times and we love it! Some say it's lost its charm, but I disagree! It's a fabulous place to vacation, and it's very walkable with awesome access to transit!
Agreed! It's such a nice relaxing walk. We tried a similar one in the afternoon but it was soo hot so we had to do the early morning one this time around

Hello. Just wanted to let your viewers know that the Hale Koa is not limited to JUST military members and their guests/families. DOD Civilians are allowed to use this hotel too. 😊
Mahalo! This video was filmed really early in the morning - around 6:30am. Most of the shops don't open until 9am or 10am. Midday it's way busier with lots of people. We opted to film early morning so there would be way less people in the background shots & less noise.
I know i asked you this before on a different video, but i was kinda hoping you could duplicate my walk back in 2014 When i was in Waikiki back in 2014 my friend and I stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and we decided one day to walk the beach....i dont know how far we walked, but we did pass the "pink hotel" and came up to a part where there was no beach, just a wall to walk along, at the end of that wall it had a couple of steps that went back to the beach and there was a small tree set back a few feet from the water (you literally turned left coming off the steps and walked a few steps to the tree)...we walked a bit further than that, i don't remember how much futher, but...does any of this sound familiar to you? Id love to figure out how far we went..we joked that we were going to walk all the way to Diamondhead
Thanks for such an in-depth walk thru. Unfortunately, it seems that they have developed all the charm and beauty out of Waikiki. Such a shame. It now looks like a twenty block outdoor mall packed with big corporate stores/restaurants and overpriced designer store junk for the foreign tourists. How many Starbucks is really needed in that short walk? Fortunately, someone has the good foresight to not have ruined the Kuhio Beach end of Kalakaua Ave up to Kapiolani Park and the Zoo, and as I recently commented on another video of the International Marketplace (another corporate outdoor mall), the only good thing about that is that someone also had the good foresight to not destroy the famous Banyan Tree. I spent much of my youth in that area (late '60's to mid '80's) and have recently had some thoughts of returning for a visit. After watching many of these types of videos and seeing how things on O"ahu are now I will take a hard pass on returning. Really nothing there to see and enjoy. I understand things change as time goes on, but man, could that not have made the changes with a touch of local charm and character?
I totally see that. Waikiki has the highest concentration of hotels in Hawaii. For the more laidback atmosphere, Haleiwa & Kailua are two great options.
@@YestoHawaii It is not the concentration of hotels in Waikiki. Waikiki has always been crowded. My comment was directed more towards the lack of local character and charm that use to exist like the old International Marketplace, the Tahitian Lanai, the basement bar in the old Reef Hotel with a huge window behind the bar that look into the swimming pool, and the daily Kodak Hula Show at Kapiolani Park, etc. Now Waikiki is one big outdoor mall. I mean come on, a Target store in the International Marketplace! What a joke. I grew up in Kailua so I know about that. But trust me, it is nothing like the laid back beach community that it use to be. And neither is a trip "out to country" to Haleiwa and other places on the north shore. Still gorgeous views all over the island, but the infrastructure that has all come about in the last 20 to 30 years is all so generic and sterile. Again, thanks for your videos. You do a good job and seem to know a lot about the places that you feature. Also, your videos will save me a lot of money each time I go back and forth to Asia as I am no longer tempted to make a stopover on O'ahu. Cheers, and best wishes in your future Hawaiian adventures.
