Our Boston was rescued from a puppy mill at about the age of 2 or so, she was a huge part of our family. A couple of weeks ago we had to put her to sleep because of cancer, none of the chemo treatments worked. We can't stand the emptiness and are adopting a 9 week old Boston this Saturday and are thrilled to find this channel to hopefully help our transition with our first puppy. Thank you for all the great information.

Bless you and your family. My husband and I just lost our dear Pappillon to cancer at the age of 17? She was also a rescue. In fact, Rose, our new 6 week old Boston terrier, is the first "puppy" I've ever had. The other great loves of my long life have been rescue dogs. We are a one dog at a time family...pouring all of our love and attention on one is how we roll. After 2 months of crying and crying we decided we couldn't live without a dog. So after searching and going to shelters, we finally found our Rose at a shelter a good drive away. And she is perfect! The only puppy I ever was around was my sister pup! Poo was mother's and like a sibling to me growing up. I am struggling to do all the right things for this baby with my physical disabilities...And after the first couple of nights she wants nothing to do with her crate. She went right to it and loved it at first. Made the mistake of sleeping with her the last few nights and it may have really messed things up. IDK!

My male Red Boston Henry, suffers from selective hearing, knows when he’s being naughty, didn’t come with an “off” button, and thinks everything on the floor is his. He was fairly easy to potty train, loves to nap in his crate, and has provided hours of entertainment and love. His energy level is high and there is no rest time when he’s around. He’s my third Boston and it’s like having a toddler in the house. He is so different from the 2 females we’ve had, but we love him just as much. We got him because he was the runt and he was the only red in the litter with 5 sisters. Bostons are the best💜

Good luck with your puppy... you already know the fun and love that comes with these wonderful little creatures.

I love your channel. We had a great Boston named Ozzie who we unfortunately had to put down last week after 15 years. I write to say that Ozzie was the best dog and friend that you could have and the joy he brought for the past 15 years cant be overstated. The Boston has such a great disposition and loyalty and I cant think of a better breed to have as part of your family. Losing Ozzie was very difficult and the emptiness is huge but he had a long and good life. Thank you for sharing the story of Boston Terriers and all the best to you.

I cook for my Boston and boxer. My first dog was a boxer and my second was a Boston. When my Boston past away at 13 years old I got a Boston and a Boxer. If anyone want to know if a Boston makes a great Service dog, they do. Sasha is my second Boston as a service dog and they are Amazing. I could not live my life without a Boston. They are hands down the best dog ever. Boxer dies make a very close second. Bostons are a very cuddly dog that wants to be at your side every second and very protective of you. My two Bostons have the same personality. Sasha is like having Sabrina all over again. She has one blue eye and one brown eye:) very cute !

Awe that's just so wonderful! I am not finding it as easy, but then in my old age this is my first puppy! All other children have been rescues and at least a year old...and only one at a time for us. I'd love to know more about how you started her training as a baby and esp. during the first few weeks you had her. I want her to be happy and gentle. Hard to deal with some of the wild puppy energy and the chewing. I've ordered her a new teething nylon bone that had good reviews...she has such sharp teeth. My little alligator! lol She can't stand not being right with either me or my husband holding or laying on us. I love that but would like her to enjoy her own "room" crate. I put the old and worn out PJ bottoms I was wearing the first couple of nights in her room and used kibble to lure her in and let her come and go into it so it's not seen as a punishment zone. This is hard! What are your secrets Kelly? TY for listening to this old lady with so much to say!

My God, as a person on the Humane Societies foster/adoption emailing list, there are soooooo many dogs that need adopting!!!! Anyways, maybe she lives in a remote area, or maybe she's refferring to smaller breed dogs (or only Bostons) not being available for adoption...but I do agree it is much harder to find a smaller dog to adopt in Toronto (where I live) as they tend to go much faster. During COVID it was mostly larger breeds on the mailing lists.
I guess got lucky getting my Boston through a foster because there was a pending legal case with the breeder miss-treating animals, but it worked out and I was able to adopt him eventually.

All of my dogs have developed allergies to chicken and grains. I've had rescues up until now, so this is our first puppy. Finding the right food is always a challenge. I'm considering making her food. Maybe get the dehydrated beef liver to do training with. All the good foods are so expensive! And you still have to find ones that don't have GMO's, grains, and other gas producing ingredients. I can make her food cheaper than I can buy quality dog foods. Only thing that concerns me is my own health is not good...IDK what to do!

This is a really good new puppy video! I can't get out to do much d/t being disabled. Even taking her out is very challenging for me. Bending down to put the halter that fits her now is too hard for me much of the time. My husband and I are spoiled to having a dog that just goes out to potty then comes back in without a leash...but her safety is the priority. I wanted to put the halter on and leave it on her but my husband will not let me do that. Being on disability I can't afford to pay for training sessions, that and I am agoraphobic and don't do social myself. I agree with her about the diet she feeds and I will rewind this to see what she feeds her dogs/puppy. Every single dog I've had has been allergic to chicken and grains. I had to feed baby rice and baby (real human baby food) lamb, ham, etc... I've got to re-watch now! Thank you!

Very odd about the meeting of dogs and people within the first 12 weeks. Most breeders would never suggest that. Puppies are not fully vaccinated at 12 weeks and it is very dangerous to socialize them to that extent at that age. I'll stick with my vets suggestions.
