Once the sleet gets driven on and compacted and polished .. it's as slippery as freezing rain.
I've been driving 23 years. I can't imagine why companies had their drivers out in these conditions trying to drive. Amazon packages, Tyson chicken. Georgia Pacific cardboard boxes, used cars, etc. "NONE" of those things were important enough to have drivers out risking their lives in these conditions.
you know how it goes...drivers simply didn't assess the conditions and say no, I need to wait this out. It's tough to say this to a DM or whatever, but should be preached. Especially with "legit" companies like Prime and so on. I tell this all the time to newer drivers. Stay safe out there!
@Mac_Simiser I agree, but there's no way they didn't see this coming. It's been on the news for two weeks
Bills need to be paid most of the time if we are being honest. Safety before bills, live to fight another day or maybe get ahead lol

And thank you for damn MUSIC ! Love the still & quiet.
Kinda makes it more dramatic in a way.... ✅️
Glad you're safe and posting these EXCELLENT drone videos! ✅️
……… without adding gay music!
Just imagine how fast EV’s would leave someone stranded. That freezing temp battery drain ain’t no joke.
Hey Jack, this is my friend Knife. Now you two try to play nice this winter!
I live in mid-state NY.
If there is even a GLAZE of ice, i shelter in place.
There is no working with it.
Even black ⚫️ 🧊 black ice is super dangerous. My dead friend knows about driving in black ice 😢
Of all the winter driving conditions, ice is the most dangerous. In the hardest hit areas from the Jan 15 winter storm, police and rescue vehicles were unable to reach stranded and wrecked vehicles.
It's ridiculous, that in this day that they did not treat the roads knowing this was coming. Absolute incompetence of government officials.
i drove in Chicago, Denver, salt lake city, Wyoming had no problems until this afternoon in hwy 69 by Cullman AL
In the south these conditions don't happen often enough to justify the expense of proper icy road treatment
ALDOT DID treat the roads in the days leading up to the event. As said below, we don’t get enough icy weather to justify purchasing salt spreaders or snow plows. Last big event was 2014. The smart thing was to huddle up @ home if one can, it’ll be gone inn2-3 days. So take your complaints elsewhere.
This is not all on the state’s DOT… it is also the responsibility of drivers!!
I mean… who would have guessed that the combination of moisture and freezing temperatures would make the roads slick?!?!
@USMC1984 AGREED 100% THE DRIVERS WERE STUPID FOR DRIVING ON ICE 🧊 THEY WERE IN SUCH A HURRY, THEY COULDN'T TAKE 10 SECONDS TO CHECK WEATHER AND REALIZE 10° WILL TURN ALL THAT RAIN FROM YESTERDAY INTO ICE
How did the car hauler get in that situation???
180°
By Not Waiting
I'm grateful for these videos...it reminds me why I wouldn't want to drive on roads in states that don't have the support they need to keep them safe in the winter
Wow that ice is really bad
That's the state of Alabama for you. It's called preparation which the state failed to properly do. The state could've brought in equipment, brought in contractors or used the national guard. They could've even shut the roads down.
When the freeze starts and you don’t have enough common sense to get off the road, whatever happens is your own damn fault
Birmingham AL can’t salt the roads to help drivers in these conditions. Unbelievable
Don’t get enough snow or ice to justify spending money on something that may be used every 3-10 years.
@@jamessimms415 one truck wouldn’t hurt. They could convert a pick up truck in that case to salt bridges and main roads.
@@jamessimms415 not even that, B'ham has the largest municipal debt ($5bn) of any city. The city almost filed for bankruptcy and its also been losing population.
@@kingyordens364 the city is led by very corrupt leadership. Several have been in court for rotten contracts or under investigation.
@@jmit3491 understandable
Don’t drive in this situation. This is an act of God. Birmingham are you kidding me right now. Not worth your Life. As far as a job. You will be replaced immediately. Not worth it. This is very unusual in the South. No equipment for this type of weather. There is no way I would have attempted to drive. What good is it. You can’t go nowhere anyway. I would have pulled over until snow melt. And 🌞 sunshine. Weather warm up. Are u guy’s crazy . Praying 🙏🏾
well truckers need to make a living bro
Cmon truckers.....no load is ever worth it
I feel sorry for that Prime driver
I bet that drone is cold
It’s warm now
nobody should be on those roads and the south is definitely not prepared for inclement weather
It’s not worth it truck drivers. Stay off the roads. It’s better to deliver your load a day late than flipping or crashing your load
when you start putting on winter tires, a set of wheels
we don't
So all this drivers didn’t bother to check the weather before they got on the road? I parked up for something less severe. I waited at the truck stop until the road cleaning crew plow and salt the road and I run in Midwest. Remember you the of captain the ship. Nobody can force you to drive in this conditions.
You Pay a 2290 every year as a Trucker.....Just to Drive your Truck on the Road....And They Dont Even Treat The Road.....Thats Weird to me
A regular Crashcadia graveyard.
😂😂 There were a few drivers who Volvoteered to join in with them
Проще и удобнее посыпать солью или смесью песка с солью (5/95%)
no Subaru's......they were parked
No Subarus were injured in the creation of this video.
or yo mom
What one more State that can't afford salt or sand
They need to take some driving lessons up here in the Great White North 😊
These are cross country drivers. They drive all over the country. What are you talking about??
Can't drive on ice
-40 up here with 3 feet of snow, nobody is in the ditch.
@@siannevautour8659 snow and ice are two very different things
Oh we have ice baby !
Firetruck needed to get his 2 right wheels on the shoulder and grass, people down south can't drive on snow or ice.
u northerners don't know no hurricane
I'm actually a Southerner but I lived in the midwest for 10 years, moved back and they called me yankee,,lol,, anyways I've been in Bama for 40 years and still laugh at how folks freakout over a little frost.@@UHaulShorts

Birmingham steep & hillay round downtown
Look very closely to the bottom of the fire truck up underneath. Looks like he’s got auto chains. I don’t know why he doesn’t have them deployed.
interesting to put sand in front of semi straddling a guard rail? I wonder how many of the drivers know about the switch on the dash that locks in both drive axels?
They are putting out absorbent clay to soak up
the spilled Diesel fuel and oil.
Seems like some sandy salt mix woulda fixed it on up ...but it is a red state like Mississippi...not known for being the brightest
It's not about being bright. It's about not spending money to have the equipment and supplies sitting around for 363 days of the year for the 2 days in winter that they're needed. I went out just before noon today, after the sun had a chance to clear the roads - I did not have any problems, but I saw that 98% of the retail industry was closed (mainly gas stations, grocery and drug stores, and Lowe's\HD\WM were the only stores open). It's cheaper to have everyone stay home for a day and deal with a few accidents than it is to try to purchase and maintain equipment to clear roads 2 days out of the year.
u stay in maine
@@bhamsoxfan72 wrong but ok ..
@@williamjones6053. No, you’re the one that’s wrong. Birmingham bought a bunch of Humvees after the 1993 blizzard & they sat there unused for years
They did put brine and sand out.
