My Gi specialist almost passed out when I said I think I have low stomach acid and I could tell in his 45-plus years of experience I was probably the only patient that had said that to him. Thanks, Dr.Berg
Same, my dr got totaly crazy when i said that, and put me on more antiacid medicine😡i know for expirience that i need acid because when i take betaine hidrocloride i feel realy good
@@liliadiaz3123 Depends Lilia, if your stomach has been eroded by H Pylori then if you add acid the bacteria will dig in the stomach lining for protection. So you will feel worse and you might develop an ulcer. If you don’t have gastritis probably more acid can be good for you, because your Esophageal sphincter will close and you might have less reflux. But really depends on your particular case. I’m just coming from the hospital because have acute gastritis so I learned a lot about this in a bad way.
Just started taking zinc carnosine with a scoop of bone broth and wheatgrass juice in a water bottle with me to work for the past couple days. I drink it after breakfast and before lunch because you’re supposed to take the zinc on an empty stomach. I’m already noticing a big improvement in symptoms. That and reducing stress. After I realized my symptoms were directly proportional to my stress levels, I started changing my focus. I don’t allow my mind to dwell on worries now. If something comes up, I figure out a game plan to address it, make a note on my phone so I don’t have to remember it, and stop thinking about it. I change my focus to something I enjoy. This is helping my recovery. The autonomic nervous system is very susceptible to stress and it controls your digestion, among other things. Being constantly stressed literally kills us over time. Mental health is physical health.
@@ericaalexandrovnaadebayo4392 I’m not sure. I didn’t have a negative reaction. If I were you I’d probably try taking it one more time on a day off, just in case it gets bad, and see if you have the same reaction. That can help rule out any random variables. If it still bothers you then I’d lay off it for now.
Thank you Dr. Berg. I been dealing with stomach issues for over a year now. I think this video will put me on the right track of recovery. Unfortunately big company Doctors where of no help to me. Its so stressful not knowing what is going on and the people you expect to help you seem to be uninterested or give generic advice. But you my friend are a champion!
It is cause they don’t know how you live. Someone says they don’t drink much but have six beers a day. Doctors can’t be with you to really know what you are eating etc. always look at your stool as well. Stool samples can be taken to doctor to work out if body breaking down foods. Also colonoscopy and endoscopy should always be done to rule out any underlying cause
@@blizzlights9978 sorry to hear that friend. I'm pretty back to normal now. One thing that I think needs to be talked about is the individual's psychological state of mind and how that affects your gut. I believe through depression and negative thinking I was making myself sick. Though I think it wasn't the only factor, it was the driving factor. Don't give up don't give in. You will beat this thing.
I think the psychlogical issues you mentioned are driving my gastritis. May I ask how you began to address these things for yourself. I don't mean to pry, but I really don't know where to begin.
A lot of people with Gastritis actually don't recommend fasting. One reason is that food acts as a temporary barrier between your stomach acid and lining. If you fast, that barrier is gone and the stomach acid has direct contact with your stomach lining making it burn more. You will begin to feel nauseous from not eating and it tricks you into not wanting to eat because you feel sick to your stomach. However, if you take small bites of food, you'll notice the discomfort quickly goes away. What you should do is eat small meals every 3-4 hours and eat slow. Also sip water constantly. In the 1970's a doctor in Iran found that drinking two glasses of water, six times a day, is all you needed to cure stomach ulcers and gastritis.
I had nausea after eating and eating sugar stuff So I got checked by the dr, had ultrasound to check gallbladder and liver ect, also for H Pryori came back all good. Then I went keto, intermittent fasting and ive lost 15 kg and can feel ive fixed this problem
Thank you, Dr. Berg, your suggestion of cabbage and celery juice has healed my stomach, have had discomfort for two months, but now my stomach, after only four days, has improved greatly, thanks to you. God Bless you, this is an answer to a prayer.
Thank Dr. Berg. Recently I was diagnosed with gastritis. This information will help me to take the right treatment to heal this condition . Thank God I’ve found this angel that is you . Thank you so much I appreciate this helpful information .
Gastritis is no joke. Thank you Doctor for everything you do. Gastroenterology seems to be a very under appreciated area of medicine (until you have a digestive issue).
Thank you Dr. Berg for wanting people to live better lives. Your videos show you truly care. The last year I have noticed my stress level spike two weeks before Menstruation. I just start feeling stressed for no reason. Then my stomach starts burning. I just did an endoscopy that showed gastritis and mild chronic ileitis. I tried to go Keto but it made it worse. More insomnia and more indigestion due to higher fat consumption. Intermittent fasting seems to help. But I have also had times when fasting made it worse. My stomach would get hungry and start producing acid and cause irritation. I will see which of your tips I can try next. Thank you so much for sharing!
It not the fat. Its the vegetables on a keto diet. Go carnivore for a month. The same thing happened to me and carnivore saved me from all the hell I went through.
I really like watching Dr. Berg's videos. It seems he has a solution to every problem. My daughter had a bad case of acne and had tried everything, to no avail. Then I saw his video on acne and realized that she was making too much androgen and followed the advice for that acne pathway. Her skin looked so clear in a couple of days! Unreal!
I just wanted to add smoking as another cause. Heavy smoking on an empty stomach plus not eating on time gave me gastritis twice. I lost about 30lbs the first time and the burn and anxiety was excruciating. Taking DGL healed it quite fast and solution was to cut down and eventually quit smoking.
@@icediamonds11 I took DGL 20 minutes before every meal. At the worst of it, I had no set meal plan, whatever sat well. I did the BRAT diet - banana, congee (porridge), plain ham and bread sandwich, chicken soup etc. Hope that helps
I have gastritis, if I drink alcohol or eat milk or cheese or some heavy sauces I get sick for like 5-14 hours or it can last 2 days. Upper stomach hurts 8/10 or 9/10. A lot of nausea, bathroom breaks (5-10 bathroom breaks) , Headaches , head pain , lower stomach pain 8/10 , & I can’t sleep. I had this for 5 years now but didn’t know something was wrong until 8-10 months ago
Dr. Berg I have gastritis due to chronic anxiety related to childhood trauma. I was diagnosed with duodenal ulcers at 6 years old and have been treated for it. Ive accepted the anxiety wont ever go away and am still trying to find ways to heal my gut. I am going to try your suggestions and would be grateful for any other information.
I'm so sorry to hear this. Like you too, I used to worry a lot, even as a child. Due to other stressors, I have gastritis. While I'm still looking to heal my gastritis, I will tell you that my anxiety is so much better once I started to cast my cares on Christ Jesus. I'm telling you that meditating on the word of God has given me so much peace, even in the trying times. I encourage you to give your life to Christ if you haven't. I'm praying for you to be made whole and healed. ❤️
This is great advice. I had been taking Vitamin D for awhile , but I added trying to stick to keto and doing intermittent fasting. I also raised the head of my bed several inches (that took a few nights to get used to! But it did help; I really couldn’t sleep flat and the wedge pillow wasn’t real great for my back.) However, adding mastic gum as recommended every morning was amazing in helping heal my gastritis. Also, from another of Dr. Berg’s videos, I use chlorophyll throughout the day and it also calms my stomach. My symptoms have greatly improved and I was able to wean myself off the PPIs and H2s. I still have to be careful with what I eat but I no longer have nausea and pain. Thank you, Dr. Berg for your practical , concise videos. You help more in 10 minutes than others do in an hour!
@@TheRealNickChang Yes, Nicholas, great question. I did have to avoid the ACV and Betaine HCL during the healing process because they will irritate your stomach if you have gastritis, and that’s the last thing you need.I followed a low-acid diet (Acid Watchers diet) for a month which helped the healing a lot. I’ve been working on healing for several months now and have just started reintroducing ACV and Betaine HCL (one each) at one meal a day, and my stomach seems to be tolerating it okay. Everyone is different, but I was able to get off the PPIs after a few weeks, but I had not been on them before, I just took them for a short while after I was diagnosed. Also,I know Tums isn’t great for you either, but I had to take it occasionally when I had a flare-up (still do sometimes), but I figure it’s the lesser of two evils. Hope this helps, I wish you the best!
Thank you Kristen! Sounds like we are about on the same timeline. I did take ACV and betaine hcl yesterday but took it two meals a day and it hurt quite a bit so I'm going to wait a month and give it another go. I'm taking omeprazole every other day now and wanted to stop cold turkey so took the ACV yesterday. Can't tell if I'm getting a rebound from staying off meds or if the extra acidity is hurting me

That cortisol values is so tricky. Makes me think there's something at a cellular level with communication and I think you hit the stress factor like a hammer on a nail. Stay safe good Doctor
Dr Berg, can you do a video on diverticulitis and diverticulosis, please! This is what I’m currently dealing with. As well as a sliding hiatal hernia! Thank you, I’d truly appreciate it! 🤗
Anyone found anything? Iv got moderate gastritis due to a mild episode of diverticulosis caused by bad constipation. It's been over 6 weeks now and I'm improving but not getting fully "better". I started a type of lepicol 3 weeks ago and that's helped a lot.
My gastritis was caused by alcohol. Also brought on 3 day hiccups, and that was nerve wrecking. I stayed away from anything acidic, and actually found a use for alkaline water. I used it in my soups, and it helped with relief. I'd like to try apple cider vinegar, but I'm worried about the strong taste. I'm almost out of the woods.
It's definitely a thing, I have pvcs. However they started when I developed gastritis. I've had ekgs, stress test and cardiac catheterization (no issues found)
My scope showed duodenitis, bile reflux, gastric erosion.Dr said it looked like a brick had been dragged around in there .Lost my husband and home in the last few months and moved .Carafate 4 times daily, Omeprazole two times daily ,Zofran ,cortisol normal.1 month into treatment feeling improved .
Good morning dr berg, Have been benefiting from your advice in general… You’re a pleasure to listen to…very precise and informative and helpful. God bless you always
I'm currently living in Brazil. I injured my neck at training and decided to take some torsilax (NSAIDs). We had a miscommunication and I accidentally took 4 times the required amount. Needless to say, my stomach has been completely destroyed. I'm going to see someone this week, to make sure I haven't given my self an ulcer. It has been a terrible couple of weeks, I haven't been sleeping and my stress is high. Now I'm stuck in a cycle of constant pain , stress and tiredness 😩
I can seriously recommend slippery elm root powder….i also sometimes mix it with an equal amount marshmallow root. You take a couple of heaped spoonfuls of each powder in a mug or small jug and add about 400ml of boiling water…stir it and leave it to turn into a gloopy gel/sludge that resembles wallpaper paste. It helps re-coat and soothe all your raw and inflamed stomach lining. For an additional boost stir in a spoonful of honey for its antiseptic properties (manuka honey is turbo charged medicinal honey). It’s not the nicest tasting, but you can use half water half milk plus the honey to make it more palatable. For me it works best thick and gloopy, but some people use it with the milk and honey so it’s more like a thick hot malted milk drink. When my gastritis is exceptionally severe, and my stomach lining feels like it’s dissolved (pain levels that codeine won’t touch) then this has been the only thing that gave any relief. I also damaged my stomach back in 2008 with ibroprufin and never had recurring gastritis before then. I’m also going to try something new….apparently mastic gum capsules or chewing gum are soothing to the stomach lining (for gastritis caused by H Pylori as well). The slippery elm root with milk and honey is a life saver….I can’t recommend it highly enough. I hope this helps someone…it’s nice to hear when something really works because there’s a lot of nonsense on other channels. You’re also better off doing this herbal remedy than anything from a doctor…they only offer poison with side effects.
Pregnant and have been diagnosed with gastritis after a visit to the ER. The last 5 weeks have been awful. Been stressed because the OB office has been lacking in guidance and explaining my specific circumstances when I ask them too….. 😒🙄 My WBC is actually elevated. I have been throwing up bile when my stomach is empty and boy is that awful. This information is invaluable. I will be trying these suggestions. I very grateful! I have found lean protein I do best with, and water makes me sick- I have to do electrolytes/coconut water.
I experienced this with my mom vomiting and my dad took her to the doctor and gave her some kind of medication because the doctor said that she had food poisoning, but the medication didn’t help instead she was bloated and wasn’t able to poop like almost 3 weeks and she got so weak because she wasn’t eating. Then I gave her blended moringa leaves juice and not even an hour she was able to poop. The next day, she called her doctor and told him that his medication almost killed her.
Hi Dr. Berg, I have really found your videos to be a treasure chest of practical information that I can use to help myself. I've just started but I've determined by trying the ACV and HCl that I probably have gastritis, h-pylori or an ulcer. I'll have to look for another video and I'm confident that you'll have one. One other way you have helped me is by suggesting the intermittent fasting. I've cut out breakfast and found my whole digestive system was feeling better with longer times in between eating. Also, it's somehow simplified my understanding of my symptoms. It really stands out now that my upper stomach is really uncomfortable between meals. I may be making it worse by not eating between meals. But I have a path to follow and I'm happy to understand my situation and what to try. I'll continue to add to my description of improvements as I go. Thanks, Dr. Berg!
These are some good tips for gastritis : No caffeine "if so never consume it on an empty stomach". Avoid any kind of food that makes you uncomfortable "mostly onion, raw garlic, hot pepper, tomatoes and deep fried food". Keep your oral environment clean and healthy. Keep yourself busy as much as you can. Sleep at least 5 hours. Never talk about your gastritis with other people because it makes things worse. Belly massage. Moving around and never being lazy. Don't you ever somke on an empty stomach. Breakfast is so important "if you feel uncomfortable don't eat bread or you can toast your bread for better digestion. Cut out raw sugar.
I been suffering with gastric ulcers because of emotional stress doc watching your videos helped me im more into vagtabls now and i drink fresh cabbage juice and celery and aleo vera juice my doctor prescribed me a antibiotic for 2 months because I was diagnosed with h pylori as well Doc you're information is so accurate its helpful to watch all of them ❤
For about a week I had stomach discomfort, a week later I noticed belching, mild pain, no fever, no nausea. Called my doctor he can’t see me for two weeks. Called gastroenterology and needed a referral. Got the referral they can’t see me for two weeks. Went to convenient care four days ago, they told me it was my gallbladder and needed a scan and some blood work. In th evening I developed pain on y right upper back and more belching. I began drinking spearmint tea with anise seeds. The belching increased. Next day felt much better, a bit sore. My question, when exactly the doctor will see you? How bad you have to be for the doctor to agree to come in the office and examine the patient. By the way, I. Still waiting for the call back for the scan and blood work. Hi Dr Berg, I've been following you for the better part of a year from videos about how bad sugar is for your body to clean Keto recipes. I recently had an issue with a burning pain in one of my breasts and doctors couldn't explain why it was happening. They then chalked it up to a cyst that had already existed in my breast as being the reason. I wasn't willing to accept that as an excuse and after a lot of youtubing, I came across one of your videos on what to do if you develop cysts. You mentioned the inverse relationship between Iodine and estrogen and possibly being deficient in iodine. I got on a daily Sea Kelp regimen and the pain has disappeared completely after a couple of weeks. I'm very grateful for all the information you make readily available for people. Especially, those who are desperate for answers/help and have to be their own advocates for REAL-health solutions. THANK YOU!

Dr. Berg, what about taking ox bile in capsules, like for example in gallblader formula, that contains 100mg or other capsules with even 500mg ox bile? Wouldn't if have the same effect as bile reflux on the stomach and cause gastritis in the long term? Or can it be compensated by taking more HCl/Pepsin together with gallblader formula?
I guess u should heal gastritis and bile reflux as well with tudca on empty stomach twice until u feel better then add on dgl before meals help soothes stomach and before sleep slippery elm bark tea/capsules will heal gastritis ,i heard chamomile tea help with bile reflux too, no so sure, i think thats bad idea to take hcl/pepsin in gastritis it will worsen stomach lining

Hello. I Just Want To Say, THANK YOU, For All That Free Information That You Gave. Myself, I Do Have Gastritis Problems, And i Do Need To Be Carefull Of What I Eat. Thanks Again.
@Infinite G nope. Never got a response. However, based on what I've been reading it looks like the order should be 1)gastritis & bile then 2)address acid reflux. (Treatment for acid reflux can worsen the gastritis). In case of SIBO, go on the FodMap diet until step one is addressed. That will help prevent flareups. Then address acid reflux with ACV (which can help with the SIBO as it makes it harder for bacteria to grow in the small intestine). These are my assumptions based on reading, but good luck to you.
I believe the underlying root cause of the bile/gallbladder ejection problems, gastritis and the sibo (these are all symptoms) of the stomach acid root cause.
@Infinite G you're welcome. You've got this. Make sure to include Intermittent fasting. Will help speed up the healing of the gut lining, will help soothe SIBO symptoms and will aid in fewer occurrences of the acid reflux.
Tea and coffee specially if you drink on empthy stomach it will irritate stomach lining. Also food intolerances specially gluten can also causes gastrites. If you have bad gastrites you need stop all these for a while and take that supplements Dr Berg mentioned in the video. Experience talking🙂

Same, my dr got totaly crazy when i said that, and put me on more antiacid medicine😡i know for expirience that i need acid because when i take betaine hidrocloride i feel realy good
@@liliadiaz3123
Depends Lilia, if your stomach has been eroded by H Pylori then if you add acid the bacteria will dig in the stomach lining for protection.

If I were you I’d probably try taking it one more time on a day off, just in case it gets bad, and see if you have the same reaction. That can help rule out any random variables. If it still bothers you then I’d lay off it for now.

Dr berg honestly your videos are spot on, cant believe how accurate the info really is. May you live in great health and happiness always.
Cure?
I had nausea after eating and eating sugar stuff
So I got checked by the dr, had ultrasound to check gallbladder and liver ect, also for H Pryori came back all good.

I just start feeling stressed for no reason. Then my stomach starts burning. I just did an endoscopy that showed gastritis and mild chronic ileitis. I tried to go Keto but it made it worse.
Did you stay away from ACV and Betaine HCL during the healing process? I'm currently trying to wean off the PPIs now
@@TheRealNickChang Yes, Nicholas, great question.

How are you doing now? Did anything help you get better?

Then I gave her blended moringa leaves juice and not even an hour she was able to poop. The next day, she called her doctor and told him that his medication almost killed her.
Hi Dr. Berg,
I have really found your videos to be a treasure chest of practical information that I can use to help myself. Thanks, Dr. Berg!

@@BobK5 I don't have that. Just heartburn which I stated.
@@abirajNYC didn’t Dr Berg say that heartburn is the result of too much acid?, too much acid causes gastritis, but he also said try ACV and if you get worse stop taking it. I can assure you that ACV is evil stuff, there’s no recognised evidence to say it’s good for you and it doesn’t cause weight loss.
@@BobK5 I thought the doc said that’s how you know you have gastritis, that if you take it and it worsens your condition, but if you have heartburn, it helps it. I
@@BobK5 it helps with heartburn period. Acid comes in many forms. It's when I eat hot sauce only. You keep saying it's evil. That's your opinion. I think you are a troll.
Ironically I just went through a whole night of this! 🤢 thanks Dr Berg!
That's a synchronicity / coincidence, not irony. Ironic is when a fire station burns down.

Dr. Berg i ask you to help me
My problem is constipation. I began taking stinging nettle root for my sinuses. I found it contributes to constipation. I've heard many good things about this supplement but not for me. Dr. Berg can you address this?
Constipation is serious and can lead to Piles or Hemorrhoids if unchecked. Add lots of fibre rich fruits and veggies in your diet. Have oil rich foods probably dairy products like butter, cheese, ghee, and also pulses and legumes. Cut down on tea, coffee and drink more water. Try sitz bath if necessary to prevent any infection and perhaps get some medical consultation.

Thank you again doctor, because you are describing 36 years of being very ill because of an unnecessary brain operation! I was supposed to be the next petite body building champion! I was training for the title when my life was rudely and very cruelly interrupted by the biggest disaster of my life. But G-d!
Why did you have the brain operation for
So what happened?
TY eric for the great videos and information. i appreciate your white board illustrations. and yes stress plays a big part in upset stomach. drink hot soothing liquids sometimes and make sure you eat and are not hungry.
But with gastritis when you go without eating wouldn't it make more stomach acid and create more inflammation? So how would fasting work?
By giving your stomach rest
The only symptons that I feel are when I move a lot I get nausea like something wants to come up (no burning sensation) + my abdomen gets bloated/inflammed without or very low pain. If I stop moving or gets sit things are normal. This happens with food or in empty stomach. Any suggestion is appreciated.
Cabbage juice and alovera and celery and carrots and apple 🍎 juice is helping me little bit and low acids diet is helping me little bit
A garlic glove with honey everyday helps as well. I did this with zinc and vitamin D daily and it cured me
Do you have to take daily, what is measure amounts and how often. Thanks, sounds so simple, but really like the ingredients.

I was recently diagnosed with gastritis and was prescribed omeprazole, I have noticed that I am always hungry, every two hours or so. Any advice would be greatly appreciated 😊

@@Drberg @drberg i thought with gastritis you have low stomach acid so why take mastic gum to decrease the acid. what do you recommend if i just got rid of hpylori that caused my gastris with a round of antibiotics. is it safe to take betaine? or what do you recommend? thanks
Hello Dr Berg can you do an updated video on gastritis and acid reflux. Which caused which first and the best healing protocol thanks
Go on a low acid diet. I have both and have no idea which was first or the root cause of my gastritis. My Drs are totally useless. Im going to start fasting but ive already list so much weight😢. My doc prescribed prilosec which im not taking.
Fasting means no food, and while it works I’m hungry but scared of food at this point
Dr. Berg i realy wish I could visit your office for my hiatal hernia and stomach problems
Hello Dr how much vitamin D would you recommend for stress related gastritis? I get a lot of sun but will be taking a supplement now. :) Thank you so much.
in many of his videos he recommends 10,000-20,000+ IUs of D3 per day as long as its paired with K2. im currently taking his D3 supplement and on the label it says you can take it 3 to 4 times a day, which is what im currently doing for inflammation and level out cortisol (also gastritis related).
hope you've healed well or at least some since your comment!
How will I know if it's gastritis or acid reflux? The first doctor I met said that it's gastritis but the last one said it's acid. I feel something burning or tightness on my neck.
Hello. Sorry, to hear about your problem. Unfortunately, we do not give online diagnoses. We suggest consulting a medical doctor to help you find out the real problem.

Dr berg , thanks for ur videos 🙏🙏 .
Request : can u post a quick video on how the eating posture may help in reducing the effects of bile backup / some simple exercises that can help … before eating some known acid causing foods (staple foods do cause ) … any simple home tests on how to understand the food proportions that our stomach can take … Thanks !!!
Hello. I Just Want To Say, THANK YOU, For All That Free Information That You Gave. Myself, I Do Have Gastritis Problems, And i Do Need To Be Carefull Of What I Eat. Thanks Again.
Which should you tackle first...bile, acid reflux or gastritis?
Good question . Did you get your answers yet ? I have SIBO as well
@Infinite G nope.
@@user-vg8ez9cu6u makes sense . I appreciate your response.. this is so overwhelming
@Infinite G you're welcome. You've got this. Make sure to include Intermittent fasting. Will help speed up the healing of the gut lining, will help soothe SIBO symptoms and will aid in fewer occurrences of the acid reflux.
Is consuming 1 tbs of raw honey good for healing gastritis or detrimental because of the sugar factor?
I wish I could fast but my stomach hurts the most when I'm hungry. I have to wake up and eat something or I'll be miserable all day.
Tea and coffee specially if you drink on empthy stomach it will irritate stomach lining. Also food intolerances specially gluten can also causes gastrites. If you have bad gastrites you need stop all these for a while and take that supplements Dr Berg mentioned in the video. Experience talking🙂
