    An update to this story: Blount was given a partial pardon by Gov. Mcauliffe, after his sentence had previously been knocked down to 40 years. The partial pardon knocked it down to 14 years, the length of the original plea deal that the kid didn't take. He has served 11 so far, and with good behavoir he could be getting out very soon.

      This country is the leader in incarceration. We keep more people in jail than probably anywhere. Hell, even Death Row is ridiculous because it takes 10-20 years to go thru the appeals. Just imagine how much taxpayer money we spend on prisons and how little we spend on keeping people from going down that road in the first place. Prison conditions here suck too.

    Joe I've been a Cop in Chicago for the last 25 years and almost every Criminal is Snitching. Not all but I've seen Gang Members snitch on their own Mothers on multiple occasions to get a deal.

      Cupid, there were four of us in an open prison, all due our parole (early release) and all four of us failed a drug test and weren't allowed out. The first guy that got caught started saying it was me who was the rat, even though I got caught third out of the four of us. My personal officer was more like one of the lads and in the end he looked in the guys security file and it turned out that the first lad caught grassed us all up (obvious really). So not only did he snitch because he didn't want to do an extra 18 months time, instead of say 8 weeks to his release, which I can understand even though I don't agree with.
      What got me was the fact he'd try and blame someone else - me in this case. Absolute scum bag. Luckily my friends were all cool about it and we were only in an open prison so wasn't much violence to worry about. It shows that there is no loyalty with criminals. Best thing was I gave him a gold ring for his brother's birthday present, that's how much I thought of him beforehand. Damn, was I naive back then. :)

    • @pohunta
      @pohunta 6 років тому +32

      @@DavidElstob73 yea it's no different with Cops and for the smallest of infractions. Believe me I was Naive in the beginning too. The thing I try telling young Cops is to remember that when you make a deal with a Criminal, he's still a Criminal. And when covering for Cops remember they deal with Criminals all the time and have a Criminal mindset. I've come to almost trust no one.

      Well, to be fair the kid refused taking any plea deal, said “Bring on all the charges” because he’s an OG gangster and obviously refused any legal and all legal counsel. So in my opinion, his stupidity cost him dearly, and he paid for it.
      Yeah, my jaw hit the floor when I heard Joe say “118 years and 6 life sentences”. I was like “😮holy shit! But still, this kid got fucked big time. Even though he’s still facing 40 years, you have to admit the kid screwed himself by trying to take on the court, that never, never ends well. And the courts will make an example of a fool like that, no matter the age.

    I experienced the system being a former Deputy and let me tell you this is why I don't go anywhere and keep my ass off the government radar. I know first hand the ruthless nature of our judicial system. When the Deputy D.A. gets a case they love to stack em and rack em with charges for here to there. They put so much time on you that you run to take the plea deal which is usually horrible but still better than hundreds of years in prison.
    I despise our system of justice but I also fear it.

    Northern Irish prisons is very different especially throughout the Troubles. Back in the early 90’s a UVF member snitched on 3 other members for a shorter prison sentence. When he arrived in Long Kesh prison the members of that paramilitary made him suffer. He was found in his cell with a broken brush shaft up his arse and hung till death. No joke. If your wandering the Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF) was a Paramilitary created in 1968 (based on the original UVF 1912-1921) to combat the threat of IRA terrorism and it was made an illegal organisation in 1969 for its attacks and killings.

    While I am sympathetic, I suspect this is a 'missing piece" story. Such draconian sentences are often imposed when a judge is informed of an additional heinous or horrific crime done by the defendant, on another ocasion, they are not charged with, discovered in the pre-sentence report. This report is sequestered and may contain hearsay. Bear in mind, his juvenile record was sealed, and never revealed . This may not be fair, but it accounts for the seemingly unreasonable initial sentence. I suspect this was the situation.

      I heard of it but wasn't able to confirm if the snitch was actually a cop or just working working for them temporarily. There was actually a show, I think on the national geographic chanel called something like "90 days" . It documented regular citizens volunteering to be jailhouse snitches and trying to make it for 90 days

      I recently found out about a female drug addict/ prostitute in my town that is HIV positive. She is knowing spreading the virus via sex and possibly sharing her needles. I am extremely upset about this and want to get her off the streets. Should I report her to "crime stoppers"?.. should I call the police and report it that way.
      This person has already been to prison for atempting to knowingly spreed HIV to an undercover cop in California. She is now in Florida.
      What would you do in my situation.
