I have the same mower kit and I've cut my 1/4 acre lot three times. Perfect results each time, with one or two LEDs remaining on battery. I use the self propelled feature always, and the time I had one LED remaining, I was cutting tall, very overgrown grass (the motor electronics detects when grass is suddenly taller or heavier and automatically spools up the motor to a higher rpm). I'm keeping my fingers crossed because this thing, so far, is amazing.

Thank you for this comment. I wish more reviewers would kinda get to the point on what they are reviewing.

As of this year mine is three years old. The rear wheels wobble a little bit side to side, the left side of the handle where it attaches to the mower repeatedly comes lose. and even on its lowest setting you cannot mow off those lovely yellow wildflowers. On the plus side it always starts and mows the yard. They now I believe come with a six amp hour battery. Mine came with a five amp hour battery and it takes me an hour to mow my yard and I have sometimes one and other times two bars left. Just remember the following. After you finish mowing, take a shower to allow the battery to cool before you put it on charge. And remember as soon as it shows full charge remove it from the charger. Leaving it on the charger will absolutely shorten its life. Also do not leave the battery in a hot summer or cold winter shed. My son left his in the shed over the winter and it would no longer take a charge. They need to be in a climate-controlled environment for sure. I am still using the battery that came with the mower on my third year.

@@HARTTools Hello, I have a question for ya. Why is this mower on the video sold for 187.00, but the wal-mart i visit it's 328.00. I am highly interested in purchasing this mower but i might have to wait until the price is lowered at some point.

MIne has only been used 3 times. Will run for a few seconds then stops. Battery does not appear to be charging. Very frustrated.

Is your battery the 5Ah or 6Ah? I'm wondering if they had a run of bad batteries?

  • @stephenadamsmusicalinterpr4203

How long does the battery hold a charge? Great review, by the way

I am not sure on shelf life off of charge, pretty sure it would be several weeks.
As far as use, I mow my fifth of an acre and then put the same battery on my Hart 40v line trimmer and do all of the trim work and I still have 2 out of 4 l.e.d.s lit up on the charge indicator.

Can ryobi 40v batteries be used on HART 40v tools?

No I own both and they do not interchange even though they are made by the same company. I am trying to give them both away because you cannot buy replacement blades for either one. Both are 40 volt 20 inch mowers. But I bought a blade for the Hart at Walmart garden center and it says right on the blade for Hart 40 volt 20 inch lawnmower. The original blade on my Hart is not 20 inches long, it is 19 1/2 inches long and the 20 inch blade will not fit under the mower. Same thing with my Ryobi. original is 19 1/2 inches long and the replacement is 20 inches long. Does not make sense. I worked for a local school district doing grounds maintenance for 35 years. I have changed a blade or two. I returned the blades and now I am trying to give these mowers away. Already bought a Kobalt to replace them.

About a year ago I bought the best HART mower with Cruise Control and a wrap around head light. I mowed crazy stuff, 2 feet tall, back by the railroad tracks, hit rocks, plowed through some dirt, and mowed a friends yard with bramble berry bushes, now the bearings seem to be blown out, they make weird noises, and one battery stopped being able to be charged.
The warranty is for 90 days, so I am on my own, to buy another battery for 175.oo and that aint gona happen ever! Apparently it is important to run the battery down to about half or 3/4 of the available voltage. If the battery is run out completely over and over, the battery WILL FAIL QUICKLY. So far, I am not happy with this purchase. HART needs to improve the quality of their battery. I would never buy HART again. Trouble is, I have a HART Weed Wacker, HART Chainsaw and Yesterday I went out and bought a GAS STILL Chainsaw! I am not happy with my HART Purchases.

The last that I knew the battery warrantee is 3 years. The 90 day thing is through Walmart stores, contact Hart Tools directly to get action on the battery. The bearings look to be abuse on your part, as you have stated here. It's a consumer grade product, not really made for the actions you put it through.
