The film is so great even though it had been misconducted so far from reality in the royal court of Siam. But as for arts and entertainment as well as imagination, everything is so cool. Unfortunately, we could not watch it in Thailand.

The thing i remembered most about the movie--the palace was actually a train station back in my hometown. i was a kid back then, saw lotsa cars & whatnot lining up the station & shit, pretty much stuffing the place up. no chance to see him in person, though i'd have loved to.

I think he looks smart and kind. Not all men look kind! I once met a man who looked VERY similar to him and had a voice like HIM! He made speeches, once alone, at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal in 2003! Now he is remarried and he no longer makes religious speeches for large gatherings. Seeing Chow Yun Fat is like seeing him again.
I respect this fantastic actor, altho i can not agree that asians (particularly south east asians) love this movie. Thailand is a very independent country with independent monarchs, and this was definitely, historically misleading as well as highly romanticized, just like any other hollywood movie. That being said, I believe that the Malaysian elephants did a pretty awesome job at acting as the king's elephants.
