I agree that there is colourism/ethnic prejudice/racist-like tendencies in certain people within the country that he comes from; however, I don't see evidence of him specifically being racist here, in fact I think they excuse and overlook Angela's abusive tendencies because I believe Andrei sees himself in Angela; in my opinion, Andrei is himself brash, overpowering and at times bully-like. There are plenty of people who could come to the conclusion that Michael was in it for the wrong reasons. But I do agree that the way Angela treated Michael, irrespective of his intentions, was abusive and these two (Andrei and Elizabeth) didn't speak out harshly enough against her garbage behaviour.
Honestly, I Really think that Michael wanted to be in USA a lot, maybe that's why partly or basically he's endured that Horrible abuse. Absolutely horrible. And he's gotten a lot of time to think and choose if to travel to the US to be there by himself and in her house. His family has been concerned. So God knows what was his reasoning, but in some interviews he's been saying "I had to perceviere" in such a way, that it really sounded like not a love goal. Also the "paradise men"... Passion is not screaming and somebody’s space and making them feel like a piece of dirt. If Angela is sweet, she needs to show that side. I don’t blame Michael taking off from her. Anyone would do that a sweet person doesn’t have that side to them so what you’re saying isn’t adding up. If I have any thoughts about Angela, it is that I think she needs to act her age move on if she gets with another man show some respect or stay. It’s not the end of the world to be single.
