Asthma is a condition where your airway gets inflamed and and starts to fill with mucus. The inhaler has medicine that breaks up that mucus and helps the inflammation go down. That's why after a really bad asthma attack you usually do a lot of coughing and spitting up phlegm. Breathing into an empty bottle will do nothing to help with an asthma attack and would probably stress out your already constricted lungs.
Yeah, they should've just had him have to scramble to dig out a backup inhaler out of a bag, which yes is noisy, so that serves the purpose of revealing his location like they want
The part with the water bottle was extra stupid since inhalers have actual medication in them that relax the bronchial tubes. Just breathing out of a water bottle wouldn't stop an asthma attack if his bronchial tubes are tightening---if anything it would worsen an attack since you're supposed to try and take long, deep breaths to calm down... as someone with asthma, that whole asthma bit is so dumb lol
Stuff like that almost makes me believe the movie might be stupid on purpose because wtf lol. It's so dumb and asthma isn't a rare condition so it's not hard to research how it works and why hyperventilating into a bottle would do fuck all
@@Spicy.Literature IIRC, the paper bag thing didn't help with panic attacks either. Why it's not done outside of movies. It, like with asthma, made it worse because stressing the breathing caused the panic to worsen. Basically there's no time when breathing into a random object will help you unless that object has meds in it.
@@prettyevil6662000it would only help with hyperventilating. Not gonna google it to make sure my understanding is correct because I’m lazy but my understanding of hyperventilation is that you’re inhaling too much oxygen. You inhale more than you’re exhaling. So you use a bag (NOTHING PLASTIC) and the bag holds more carbon dioxide than oxygen and it helps level out your, well, levels in your lungs and helps you regulate. A plastic bottle isn’t permeable and would just cause you to suffocate… that’s why you can’t use a plastic bag. It must be permeable like paper. So technically it’s a life hack for hyperventilating but not all panic attacks cause that so. You are correct in that sense but wrong that no object can help with breathing
@@Zelda00GamerThanks for commenting, you saved me from trying to explain how breathing into a paper bag helps with hyperventilating and not a panic attack.
@devstuff2576 That‘s why I actually think this film is sort of a success in an unintentional way. It reminds me of Psycho and its 1998 remake. The consensus is that the remake is inferior because it‘s identical, which, aside from being a contradiction, says a lot about how the era in which a film is released matters. If we see this new iteration of The Strangers as an experiment to see if the same story with the same approach would work for a new generation, then it‘s actually pretty genius, even if the answer to the question is no.
I just imagine a movie called “the strangers:if Tamara was home.” Where it is just basically a movie from dollface’s pov and it just shows what the strangers do if they find a house with that actual girl
Asking “Is Tamara home?” is a line from the original movie and it’s the Strangers’ way of “casing” the house and seeing who their next victims will be. The line “Because you were here/home,” is also from the original movie and in a better film, it would be genuinely terrifying because it shows these killers have no motive other than to torture and kill these innocent people. For a movie called The Strangers: Chapter One, you’d think they’d explain or show how The Strangers came up with these iconic phrases, or how they suddenly decided to become bloodthirsty home invaders, but the filmmakers decided to make a lackluster and less effective remake of the original. Supposedly, the next two films are going to delve deeper into their origins. I think they were using this film as a reboot for younger audiences who weren’t familiar with the original, but they probably should’ve just made another sequel. Horror villain origin movies almost never work anyway. The unknown is scarier.
I think “because you were home “ hit different than “you were here” because “here” means that they’re targeting that house specifically instead of “home” means that they’re going home from home and attack people who answered
It‘s also a reference to Funny Games, of which The Strangers takes more than just a few inspirations from. Same with the weird cult-ish kids in white clothing.
i think if they would've added the twist that the boyfriend is apart of the whole thing with the strangers, then it could've been a redeemable film. and, it would explain how he knew where she was. if that makes sense, loved the video by the way!
I've always been under the mindset that all movies don't have to be intelligent masterpieces of cinema, however, when it's clear that the movie is meant to be taken seriously while ALSO being seemingly created by a studio that doesn't actually give a fuck about the quality of said movie, all nitpicks and criticisms are fair game.
The Strangers is a horror franchise that was exceptionally unnecessary. The 2008 movie was best as a stand alone. It never needed more elaboration as it's singularity was what made it work. Similarly to The Purge series, it looses it's shock and scare value the longer we are within the world of the film.
I watched it yesterday going in blind with my bestie cuz Tarot was unavailable. The theater had like 10 people including us, 5 minutes in we already didn't like the protags, 15 minutes in we were hoping they would die already, and halfway in, everyone in the theater had or was yelling at the stupid decisions and insufferable whaling from the female protagonist. My friend and I predicted every jump scare and bad decision, I think we even predicted the ending. it was not a pleasant experience, but the audience was having fun making fun of it.

I think the sink jump scare was she hit the garbage disposal switch and it turned on and scared her - this has happened to me in real life, so I give it a pass. Rest of the movie though? Dumb decisions at every turn!!!
About the bloody door bedroom scene, I think the strangers wanted to play the long game with them, scare them a little but space it out, lull them into thinking it was just a weird night in a small weird town... but then they noticed how astronomically stupid the protagonists were and said "nah, we gotta speed this up and get to the actual hunt."
The problem with the prequel treatment is that in the original movie at the end the mother Stranger tells Dollface, "It'll be easier next time," as if it was their first time, repeat, their first time. Are these even the same Strangers from the other movies? They look totally different.
Even then the first movie was awful. What does "It'll be easier next time." even mean? They had the entire film to kill the couple, from the very start, but chose not to - assuming that they liked to instil fear first. That line ruined the last film because if it was about 'ease', the film would've been over in 10 minutes.
@@shosc16 I interpreted it as dollface being new to their sick little game while the other two were more experienced (of all the strangers she's the one that gets the most screen time and the only one that talks so there has to be a reason for that). And that "ease" has nothing to do with the length of time they take to kill their victims. It has everything to do with their morality (dollface is the only one who takes the pamphlet from the Mormon boys implying shes at least a little bit religious and so is having issues reconciling her faith and her actions)

In the og strangers they do sit in a room in a corner and wait with the shotgun. The boyfriend also shoots someone he thinks is a stranger but isnt. It was his best friend he called….so much more impactful and horrifying.
@@Stark-Cinemayea they used "How it started" and other shit to imply it's about their first kill and the movie is called chapter 1 literally saying it's the beginning of the story. The marketing and movie are like two different movies 😭.
i'm also confused because the movie was branded as a pre-quel origin story, but they're using iphones in chapter one. the first strangers movie takes place with flip phones. i just don't think this movie even knows what it is.
Honestly, the cellphone dropping service would make sense if The Strangers had a signal jammer, but that would require the prequel being what it was advertised (an exploration of The Strangers’ origin)
I couldn't even waste time being this upset, it was a fucking chore and it flew right outta my mind in 8 minutes after viewing. Horrible. The only legitimate anger i felt was watching Richard Brake in one scene with no dialogue whatsoever.
That’s fine. I’m analyzing this movie as if you just walked in and don’t know too much 🥂🙏 - a good movie can be a sequel and still have the script stand on its own. That detail is meaningless to half the audience; and just because they do it in the other movies doesn’t really make it make any more sense 😂🤦♂️
They escaped one cabin just to run into another cabin. Why wouldn’t they just take off in the woods? Why did they go into that other smaller cabin? That was so dumb.
It’s at 50 million at the box office as of now… it will probably end up making around 60 million by the time it leaves theaters. Sense they have already filmed the whole trilogy they will probably just release them as planned in the next few months. This film was very much an updated version of the og film, I’m excited to see how the story continues especially sense we don’t have to wait long.
I saw this movie the other night was blown away with how bad it was. I don’t have high standards, I find dumb movies really fun! But this one wanted us to take it seriously. I’ve seen interviews with the main actress calling her character SMART. She’s not. Also, I wish the boyfriend got to be suspicious for more than just the beginning. He was when the car was suddenly not working. Then….he gaslights her about her seeing someone? What? It would’ve been more interesting if he immediately believed her and we went from there! Ugh. I really hated it. Also thanks for mentioning the fridge thing. I thought it was such an obvious set up to get another person there. Why would you need to get the fridge fixed for ONE night. SO. DUMB.
@@Stark-Cinema ah, I was wondering that when you brought up the idea of them barricading themselves in the room with a shotgun. Either way, great job on the video! Keeping things objectively separate was a great way to support your arguments about the movie’s quality.
The difference between the strangers fans and other slasher movies is the strangers fans like the realism and logic applied movies to make it more realistic which actually makes it more scarier. When you take away the realistic element and add all the bizarre scenes, you can’t stop there you have to go all the way then. Just like Halloween with Michael Myers. They have a supernatural element to it. But a lot of us want a realistic killer movie like the original Strangers.
I'm disappointed to say, but I have high hopes that the lore will come to surface either in the second movie or the third! I'm giving the writers the benefit of the doubt!!! The first 35 minutes of this movie is bad, but the rest is honestly okay!
When I went the crowd laughed a lot at multiple parts in the movie like when the motorcycle blew up😭 and when the one stranger teleported off the car when the shotgun went off
usually when a movie has “chapter one” or some subset like that, it means it is essentially a prequel to the main story. you have the purge movies, then you have the “first purge” which is a prequel to previous purge timelines and goes into detail about how the purge came to be. ‘the strangers: chapter one’ is literally just a horrible retelling of the first movie. in no way did it even attempt to explain why they kill, etc.,
The most enjoyable part was leaving the theater & getting as far away from this Trainwreck as possible!! This was on a friday night & outside of the 2 of us there was 1 other person in the theater.I really don't see this monstrosity making enough money 2 justify a sequel much less a new trilogy.
My rewrite would be heavier on the couple being strong and competent especially about the marriage piece that was underutilized. Fence in the cabin, so we can track where everyone is in the forest/surrounding area. Those fog shots were annoying. -- I'd introduce a new Stranger more akin to a leader that set them down this path. Maybe a prominent B-lister that killed the cabin owner and propped up this murder they've been planning for a while. Someone that can die in this trilogy, that teaches the Strangers that killing is just a matter of doing. And you can realistically harm, kill, or kidnap anyone at any time. --- Maybe an elderly fellow like Christopher Meloni that's not just scar tissue.
Idk if you saw but after they showed her in the hospital they pull a marvel and had another Scene where the main stranger was laying next to the girl in the hospital bed
To be fair, in a small town the mechanic probably lives in the same building as his shop. Either he built an extension onto his house to be a shop or an apartment onto the shop to live in.
This feels like it was written by some sort of A.I. with minumal human intervention. All this movie did was blend the first and second movie together, like an A.I. was told to make a film based on those two films and since that is all it has, simply patched together iconic scenes and randon horror tropes to make this a reality.
The problem with these movies is that their situation can be solved by an AR-12 semi-automatic shotgun with a 10 round drum. A Freddy or Michael Myers on the other hand.... I hate these type of slasher films, super frustrating at how dumb and helpless the victims are.
Wow they copied down to accidentally shooting an innocent person. That's probably why the writers didn't make the new couple stay in the house with the gun. The original does that and the couples friend gets shot mistakenly.
This movie being bad wasnt that surprising unfortunately, it was basically a remake and not a prequel. Just all the more reason to appreciate The Strangers Pray at Night
If the next movie sucks just call it Strangers chapter poo. When you explained the bad writing it reminds me of Peter trying to make a energy drink."Gasoline is fuel Redbull is fuel Gasoline is Redbull"😂
Your solution for the characters once they get the gun is literally what the characters in the original do. It doesn’t end well for them however still the best course of action. This remake ? Reboot? Prequel?!?! Was so bad 🤧
I guarantee they just threw in those early inhaler moments THINKING that it was enough establishment of his need for it and then out of sheer "it's already established we don't gotta worry about it until the specific moment we need it" they just never thought to have him do it during the previous scares. This is like 2nd or third draft stuff that even if you miss it you go back and be like "oh it would make sense if he needed to use inhaler here" and add it in where it makes sense. Did they write this movie in one draft? 😂
I heard it is already greenlit as a trilogy that takes place over a few days. I love that "chapter non" redubb lol I've semi intrigued by the Strangers universe and had hope for this film, but every review that I have heard states that its the same dismal, uncreative crock of cinema. I love your logical analysis! It appeals to my INTJ sensibilities. Yes a logical filmmaker like Nolan or James Cameron!
As someone with asthma and an inhaler, your inhaler has actual medicine in it lol. If it was that easy to stop an asthma attack, then you wouldn’t need an inhaler
So glad I found your channel, saving my wallet and time while making me laugh. May I ask what mic you use? Looking to get into commentary and love your setup!
I'm so late to the party but i just happened to be bored enough to watch movie and immediately looked up every REVIEW i could find to make sure I wasn't going crazy. So we all agree...The movie was awful but the one thing that i havent heard one person mention so i thought i would comment is in reference to the guy on the missing poster/ referenced by waitress as "big city guy who came thru and they never saw again"/ is the same guy killed at the opening and also the dead body that the female lead saw while she was hiding under the leaves Obviously, the movie still wasnt good but i just thought maybe that will end up meaning something in the other movies 🤔🤔
I honestly thought this was good. The first movie came out in 2008 and a lot of people who haven’t seen it got to see it thru this movie and honestly thought the horror and pacing wasn’t bad. Been a while since we’ve had a slasher horror film and this one honestly was a good reintroduction to the franchise. The strangers themselves were the best part I see them as the real main characters of this movie because we’ll get them in another movie and the couple in the movie made dumb decisions but it made my watching experience more fun in the theater the whole theater was laughing and jumping at certain parts we all had fun to be honest.
Screenwriting is everything in film production! A well written screenplay would have elevated this film from great cinematography to an overall great movie! The saddening part is, it could have easily been done but it wasn't, which tells us they simply don't care.....

I’m having a really bad day and this rant genuinely made me feel better lmao thanks SC!
I just know they'll eventually do a remake/prequel to cabin in the woods and completely miss the point of that movie
Honestly, the cellphone dropping service would make sense if The Strangers had a signal jammer, but that would require the prequel being what it was advertised (an exploration of The Strangers’ origin)
The boyfriend knew what closet she was in because the house is pitch black and she left her phone flash light on
I think the biggest problem with this movie is that they were saying it’s a prequel movie when it’s more of a remake from the original.
People really out here thinking a water bottle could be used as an inhaler 💀 yeah if you wanna suffocate and die maybe
I couldn't even waste time being this upset, it was a fucking chore and it flew right outta my mind in 8 minutes after viewing. Horrible.
The only legitimate anger i felt was watching Richard Brake in one scene with no dialogue whatsoever.
I could care less about the movie bro I just have fun making UA-cam videos and I’m a content creator for a living lmao.
@Stark-Cinema I completely understand sir. 😉
When Ryan went back to his car . He opened the car with his phone not a spare .
Still a shit film
@@Stark-Cinema I agree totally
Asking for Tamara is what the strangers do in each movie.
Honestly the only time the prequel shit works is in Final Destination 5.
My girlfriend predicted the whole thing. Horror movie fans will do that
A good horror movie won’t let you predict it so easily
How dare you have the image of Prey at Night while ripping on Chapter 1, Prey at Night actually slapped.
Haha sorry m8 it’s not that deep didn’t mean it like that
I saw this movie the other night was blown away with how bad it was.
SO. DUMB.
"Oh my god there's a bang at the door"
The fact that you were able to make an hour and ten minute rant about this film without having seen the original is honestly impressive…
Lmaoo - I saw the original but just kept this video focused on the new one mostly! And thanks 🙏
Wait! So the Ryan character has a spare car key but not a spare asthma inhaler? 😂😂😂
I guess I'll never eat a turkey melt, I might come up missing lol
“I’m turnin, I’m movin, I’m doing a little groovin”😂😂😂😂 @22:22
Walked out the cinema half way this is so bad
i'm actually obsessed with this channel omg!
Made my day 🥂
I'm disappointed to say, but I have high hopes that the lore will come to surface either in the second movie or the third! I'm giving the writers the benefit of the doubt!!! The first 35 minutes of this movie is bad, but the rest is honestly okay!
Which one’s better, the strangers 2008 or the strangers prey at night 2018
personally I thought it was fun for what it is 🤷♂
When I went the crowd laughed a lot at multiple parts in the movie like when the motorcycle blew up😭 and when the one stranger teleported off the car when the shotgun went off
Watched Mista GG’s video on this movie like 5 times. Was fun to get another review. Well done, you gained +1 sub
usually when a movie has “chapter one” or some subset like that, it means it is essentially a prequel to the main story.
you have the purge movies, then you have the “first purge” which is a prequel to previous purge timelines and goes into detail about how the purge came to be.
‘the strangers: chapter one’ is literally just a horrible retelling of the first movie. in no way did it even attempt to explain why they kill, etc.,
It's like the Jeepers Creepers "origin" movie all over again.
I ride crotch rockets…I agree, I wouldn’t leave my keys anywhere near my bike. I wouldn’t even leave my bike out!
--
I'd introduce a new Stranger more akin to a leader that set them down this path. Maybe a prominent B-lister that killed the cabin owner and propped up this murder they've been planning for a while. Someone that can die in this trilogy, that teaches the Strangers that killing is just a matter of doing. And you can realistically harm, kill, or kidnap anyone at any time.
---
Maybe an elderly fellow like Christopher Meloni that's not just scar tissue.
Idk if you saw but after they showed her in the hospital they pull a marvel and had another Scene where the main stranger was laying next to the girl in the hospital bed
This is my second video of yours and they are so entertaining. It is criminal how few subscribers you have. I added to it, keep up the great work!
I just found him today, I enjoyed him and hit that sub button. He’s gonna grow for sure!
What kills me is that apparently this is supposed to be a RELAUNCH. NOT a remake or prequel.
love the video length! 🫶
To be fair, in a small town the mechanic probably lives in the same building as his shop. Either he built an extension onto his house to be a shop or an apartment onto the shop to live in.
The movie was alright, I wish it was trying to be something else besides a remake but the movie was fine. I give it a 7/10
holy generous rating good on ya m8 😂
the Strangers prey at night is the best movie in the franchise, it’s a 10/10 in my book no questions asked
The town conspiracy thing would have been good! They should have played into it!
Wow they copied down to accidentally shooting an innocent person. That's probably why the writers didn't make the new couple stay in the house with the gun. The original does that and the couples friend gets shot mistakenly.
The directors and writers need to watch every second of this video
i just watched this movie and ngl i actually got upset waiting for it to end and just went to sleep 😭
i honestly liked this group of characters more than the first, other than that it’s a redone version. oh well
The Strangers: Chatper Poo.
Got ya covered bud, easy
You can call chapter 2, chapter Booooooooo 👎🏽
What about… Chapter POOOOOO
Man... i was looking forward to it too. I loved the original
i regret not booing when the credits it. the to be continued killed me lol
Spot on man! 😂 This movie insulted my intelligence.
First we get "Exorcist Believer" & now they've totally screwed up "The Strangers"...This is why we can't have nice things!
This movie being bad wasnt that surprising unfortunately, it was basically a remake and not a prequel. Just all the more reason to appreciate The Strangers Pray at Night
Nothing at all happens in this movie it was complete garbage
25:25 I haven’t seen Tarot and I can still say that is 100% false
If the next movie sucks just call it Strangers chapter poo. When you explained the bad writing it reminds me of Peter trying to make a energy drink."Gasoline is fuel Redbull is fuel Gasoline is Redbull"😂
The flip phone belonged to the owner of the house I believe
I'd love to hear your takes on The Exorcist Believer
For stark cinema you should get like iron man like stuff not necessarily but get stuff for the background
Look closely ;)
The Arab guys yelling about their friend Tamara in your theater is the best thing this movie did lol
Love the new video now i know what NOT to watch
I honestly thought this was good. The first movie came out in 2008 and a lot of people who haven’t seen it got to see it thru this movie and honestly thought the horror and pacing wasn’t bad. Been a while since we’ve had a slasher horror film and this one honestly was a good reintroduction to the franchise. The strangers themselves were the best part I see them as the real main characters of this movie because we’ll get them in another movie and the couple in the movie made dumb decisions but it made my watching experience more fun in the theater the whole theater was laughing and jumping at certain parts we all had fun to be honest.
You’re allowed to like it, but logically, this is an absolutely shit script. You can’t argue that really. You can still like the film though. Cheers!
Screenwriting is everything in film production! A well written screenplay would have elevated this film from great cinematography to an overall great movie! The saddening part is, it could have easily been done but it wasn't, which tells us they simply don't care.....
