Of all the channels who have bought a Himalayan 450 and made videos about, yours is the only one I can actually watch for true insights. Id love if you could also explore the tourer side of this machine.
That the plan when mine arrives, hopefully towards the end of next month. A 49 tooth will suit our speed limits here (110kph) any faster can be tiring and distract from viewing the scenery. And I plan to spend as little time on fast roads as possible. Enjoy your channel & what you are up to. Cheers from downunder.

Sir, I've been following this video series since the beginning... At this point, what is the full wet weight of the bike? I lost track ... Have you changed the exhaust yet? I don't think so right? Thank you
Thanks for the update on this Abhinav, this particular mod is what is going to help a lot of riders in practicality. I intend to go with a 3T+ sprocket than 2. Besides this, could you please try LiquiMotul or Motul FS on the Sherpa 450 Engine and tell us your feedback about it ? I have seen and felt personally that large singles like this benefit a lot from change in Engine Oil.
Hi Abhinav this series is very interesting and one stop solution of what mods can make the Himalayan 450 even more fun loving bike. But one question is the Fuelx pro standalone itself will take care of low end torque issues right so what will the sprocket change will provide more to us. Only thing missing is Easy clutch and adjustable clutch levers.
Did you installed front Sprocket also or just rear one ? Stock front socket has how many teeth ? Kit comes with 15 teeth. Is it necassary to change front one ?

Can you please install fuelxpro and check the low end perfomance.will it be good to install fuelx rather than changing sprocket or both the attachment will do wonders ?
Will it improve rideability at low speed ? Will my lows and mids give some relief from heavy gear shifting.. Means i need.. less great shifting within the city. RPM with higher gears? Secondly will this be suitable for hunda CB 350?
Hi brother , need a suggestion. How can I improve low-end of my bs4 ecosport diesel, it's great in day to day scenario but when it comes to inclines underground situations it's just weak and struggles alot even in 1st gear , any suggestion would be greatly appreciated , I'm expecting a solution to this from you brother. Thank you
I am guessing the top speed remains the same. Reason: Most H450 top speed videos on UA-cam show the bike not hitting the rev-limiter in top gear, as the overdrive doesn't produce enough, rear-wheel, torque to hit 9k RPM, and only achieves about 8.5K . A 4.25% reduction in gearing will increase the rear-wheel torque, thereby increasing the rev-span on the 6th gear.
@ABHINAVBHATT please make a small reel or video of all mods done till date, costs associated with it, your view of performance gain and weight reduction. Also, have you considered tail tidykit for further weight reduction?
Hi Abhinav ! I heard on other reviews the same "complain" about the "lack" of responsivness in the low ! Do you think RE will adress this issue by reprograming the ECU ?
@@abhinavbhatt or another way to ask this question : do you think the responsivness can be change by electronics? I saw you changed your ecu but it just manage the mixture from what I understood
I doubt it. Beacuse, you can't change the engine's architecture and fuelling changes can only compensate to a minor extent. It's a short-stroke engine, unlike the undersquare, 1st-gen Himalayan. SS engines have only one real-world advantage over long-stroke ones: higher power output. But this high power comes at the cost of low-end torque. The H450 has a better low-end than the Duke 390. Shorter gearing is the sole option. I think RE built this bike to target the western market where the average, highway crusing-speeds range from 110 to 130 Kmph. @@jeremieyirmeyahu3468
Thanks for the information. Along with the advantages, what's the drawback of bigger sprocket ? Does it wear the engine due to higher torque demand? And could this devoid warranty ?
We're not altering the power output of the bike by changing the final drive ratio. We're only altering the peak torque/power in the rev range (early or late depending on the gearing). Don't know about warranty stuff with the RE but it definitely doesn't affect the engine as we're aren't messing with the power output of it in anyway shape of form.
@@Toxic88088 I see. In that case, why didn't RE think of the bigger sprocket to improve the initial torque. Usually that's the RE characteristic right ? They usually don't bother much about the top speed.
@@Suryashenoy tbh no idea why. KTM did the exact same thing as well with the ADV 390. It came with 15/45 setup. Should've came with the 15/47 setup for better low and midrange power delivery. Hmm.. The front sprocket looks very easily accessible.. Changeing the front sprocket should be fairly easy eaven roadside, which would make the option of carrying an alternative front sprocket for gearing changes while travelling a rather straightforward option..🤔👍
@@abhinavbhatt Hmm?.. Are there some unique proprties to the front sprocket for the 450 Himalayan?.. 🤔 If not, there should be numerous produceras of sprocket around the world.. Althoug perhaps not available in India, due to trade policies?.. 🤔
While the idea of changing the front sprocket cuz it's easily accessible is good, downsizing the front sprocket creates extreme wear on the chain since the 520 pitch chain has limit to how tight it can turn. The smaller diameter 14T makes the chain go through it tighter radius that it's ment to and smaller diameter Sprocket will make the chain rub on the chain pad more often than not once the chain starts to get looser from wear and tear over the period of usage. So if you're going to keep an eye on it at all times and adjust the chain slack frequently and prepared for the premature wear on chain (which are all race bike maintenance territory) then go for it. I personally have experienced these issues when we raced RC390's and made custom 14T Sprockets for it. The chain would ate through the pad and eventually ate through the aluminium swingarm on the KTM. Too early to guess the fate of Himalayans swingarm tho, but you get the gist.
