  • I tested this obvious tool co tool belt for a week while framing, to get a real feel for the belt so that I can make this review.
    This video shows off a lot of the features and accessories that the belt has, and I also show the belt in action as I continue on with some framing.

    Hey Dave, if you aren’t a fan of the tape clip feel free to place the detachable pouch from your ultralight non dominant pouch and place that on the tape clip. You can use that to put your tape into AND the back section of that to put your phone in 😉

      That’s a really good idea! I started to get use to the tape holder but I like this and I’ll try it out next week!
      Cheers!

    I purchased one of these belts 6 months ago before the updated version. It’s the first belt I’ve had so hard to compare with anything but for the most part it’s been enjoyable. The only issue I really have is the hammer holster as it doesn’t stay open wide enough and my estwing hammer doesn’t slide out nicely when pulling out. Not sure if I’m doing something wrong or what as the hammer grip is quite rubbery. Besides that I can’t fault it

      Hey mate! If you reach out directly I’m more than happy to walk through how we can get that hammer holster working well for you. There are a few factors involved so we’ll work through what could be going on and find a solution.

    hey mate, got the tool belt as well and i have added a pouch to the back of the belt. you could do the same to keep the chalk line there or anything else since its just an extra slot

    How are you finding the framing pouches? Have you tried a combination of the ultralight and framing? I’m trying to decide whether to do a hybrid or go all out framing.

    • @DaveDoesCarpentry

      I’ve leaned completely towards the framing pouches. I love them and haven’t touched the ultralight since

      @@DaveDoesCarpentry I’m torn between the ultralight non dominant or framing dominant. Definitely going to get the framing dominant though.

    I've found the framing pouch set up a little heavy on the back after a long day. Other than that very happy with the set up.

    Great review!
    I’m going to invest in a OTC belt in the next week or so.
    I was thinking the same about a hybrid system with the framing dominant and the ultralight non-dominant.
    I’d love a framing bag with the tape holder instead of a clip- so I think the hybrid will be the way I go.
    If anyone from Obvious is looking at these comments, I’d love to buy more of the clip on nail pouches as a stand alone item so you can have one hanging off the bag and one off the belt.

      @obvioustoolco 5 місяців тому +2

      Hey mate! I think the hybrid setup will definitely work well if you’re keen on a tape pocket on your non-dominant side. We’ve got quite a few customers running it that way.
      As for the detachable fixings pockets, we will have them ready for individual sale in about 2 months, so stay tuned for that.
      Feel free to reach out in future if you have more questions. Cheers mate!

    How do you feel these compare to the likes of badger and diamond backs?

    • @DaveDoesCarpentry
      @DaveDoesCarpentry  5 місяців тому +1

      I have never used a badger belt, but I prefer it over the diamondback. The diamondbacks pouches hangs too low, making it awkward to grab tools and fasteners out. And my hammer would get stuck in the sheath of the diamondback

    • @kickyourfaceandlaugh607

      Get a set of badgers they are American made. Diamondback went to Taiwan for their materials.

      @@kickyourfaceandlaugh607do u think badger will be better than this belt? I prefer lightness over everything I’m thinking of going with the ultra light series but caught up between getting that or the badger trimmer, from photos the badger looks better build quality and better back support but it’d be heavier, which do u think will be lighter? I have both the framing pouches on a buckaroo belt. So much lighter an more room for quick access to whatever you need then the leather buckaroo pouches. Used them now for six months doing formwork carpentry which is ruff on the gear and these bags still look brand new

    The fastener bag on your left-hand side shouldn’t have all those tool holders in the middle pocket. That’s for nails or screws. That would be a dealbreaker for me. I like my badger and my diamondback bags.
