Such lovely, laid back, relaxing vlogs to watch. Thank you so much 🙏🪬😘 grow the beard and see if you like it, it’s you alone that has to live with it Nick 😘
Loved this video, cause my wife and I' s favourite activity was driving through France. we always chose "no tolls" and were never in a hurry. We just loved the rural roads , you can go at your own sedate pace and really see France and all it has to offer. We have done the trip to Toulouse 3 times and Lyon 27 times over the years. Also did it by motorbike 3 times, and a 600 cc scooter. Also back in the day it was great to do a day trip to Calais, it was such a lovely place to visit and has a cracking beach which goes on for miles. The condition of the roads is brilliant almost across the board too. Bet you can't wait to get back home to the warmer weather. We are at minus 5 at night in Scotland and 3 degrees during the day! I love all weathers so I don't mind, I like a challenge!
Thanks for the message. Yeah France is lovely and we have done the same as you many times in our old van and really enjoyed the little laid back villages of rural France, this time we wanted to get south quickly so taking the tolls was best option.. In Spain now and weather is lovely ☀️.. Sounds cold back there! Keep warm and enjoy xx
Happy to help.It really is an amazing setup. You can refill water at most locations, buy wine directly, some have small shops for cheese and local produce and above all you are SAFE and no one will move you on. France in general is the best friendly camper country we find. You should also tank up at supermarket locations which are generally much cheaper. Have fun my dear people,
Valencia, Barcelona and Malaga. My prayers are with everyone in my favorite country. I am watching Galicia which is where I will return to next year. Drive safe, flash flooding is An unseen danger. Hugs to both of you. On to Espana.
That van looks great guys and really suits your lifestyle. Big shout out to Frank and Emily for such a generous act I know we’ve already said it in the past but hey it’s nice to be reminded. Hopefully all those storms down in Spain have passed by the time you return home they’ve really been through down there.
Yes.. We are forever grateful to our good friends Frank and Emily, really lovely couple and we will take care of this van as well as we can (avoiding any kind of storm from now on😅) Thanks so much for watching..
We travel from Alicante to Uk twice a year, it's actually cheaper to use the ferry from Santander/Bilbao to Portsmouth than driving using tolls and fuel, they have facilities on board for walking your dogs etc. Crit Air, order when you get home online, it's around 5 euros, takes around 3 weeks to arrive.
I found out about toll roads when I went to the USA, i was of the opinion that i wasn't going to use them my friends thought i was mad so i gave it a go, brilliant so i know what your saying lovely to see you back in France, its been freezing here in the south of the uk, come back summer!
When i drove south through France, there was a parallel road next to the toll road with very little traffic, it was free and just as quick, it may have changed since then though
Hiya. Yeah we’ve taken the non tolls so many times in the old van Vinny through France 🚐.. They definitely take a lot longer! But there are sections that are pretty good 😉👌
Sunshine certainly helps ones mood. France is lovely...sorry to hear of all the disasters in Spain. I saw some of it on the news but didn't realize it was so wide spread. Looking forward to a visit on Sunday.
Nick has got his badger of 40 years, I still have my teddy Rufus from 74 years and little panda from 75 years old. All captured by my dad with his film camera and now viewed all these years later on my TV after manipulation. Can you imagine looking at yourself lying in a pram with panda or toddling up the path with Rufus.
Happy to see you going back home! Must be so exciting, especially now you have the land in Portugal! Look forward to seeing the next leg of your journey.
We always go, Rouen, Evreux, Dreux, Chartres and Chateaudun to Tours. All non toll and takes little longer than the toll. Take the toll to Poitiers then non toll N10 to Bordeaux. Toll to the border.
France is sooo accommodating isn’t it. We love touring there. We are now back in our campo house in Andalusia. We got here last Wednesday during the storm. Quite an experience. Thankfully our place was ok but some devastation at villages just down the road from us 😢. Safe travels guys 😊
Glad all ok with your place in the campo, we are lucky too in our village thankfully.. So sad seeing the damage to other places.. Hopefully everyone will be more prepared in the future.. Have a nice day xxxx
So brilliant in France the free aires. You would think they would put an honesty box somewhere as there doesn't look as if there are any cafes or anything you can buy in the village. France in the autumn is lovely.
It’s called Clickbait and I think it’s a very dishonest practice. If people like you and your Channel and follow you, then they will watch your videos. I hate clicking on a blog with a title only to find it’s not what the title infers.
Omgosh...we first had celeriac remoulade in France in 1975 and I have been making it ever since. It is a big brown sometimes "hairy" bulb that tastes faintly of celery. It is so delicious and has become one of our must haves with any holiday dinner. Another favourite was rillette but since it is made from pork, it is a no go for you. But holy hell...rillette on baguette is just incredible along with a side of celeriac remoulade. The thought takes me right back to cycling through France. So excited to see your land again. Onward ho!
Hi guy's, good to see the sunshine 🌞 over there ( we forgot what it looks like ) Glad to say you missed the snow and sleet here in wales and now we have storm Bert to look forward to. Roll on summer...... Hope it's all good in sunny spain guy's, keeping it all crossed for you 🤞🤞🤞 Much love xxx Goatee Nick 😂😂😂
@theexPAWers The only downside are the innumerable vicious speed humps through the towns & villages. Fine in a car, but as you know, in a van everything becomes airborne at anything over walking pace!
guys. if you take the san sabastian route there is an excellent campsite near the border. its just off the highway but feels like a little oasis. the people who run the bar are wonderful and the tapa is excellent. doggies are well loved too. try the local beer. very very good! Camping Oliden
nice to see you going back to europe, the reason we started watching you was because of the portugal stuff and then grew to love all your other content
Hi Sara and Nick great video I love France . Nick growing a beard 😮I prefer clean shaven but go for it . Can’t wait for next video big hugs to to all including Charlie and dizzy 💕💕
Go for the beard nick,Ive had one for 60 years and never been tempted to shave it off. As for style just wait and see what grows that way you won’t be disappointed, no good planning something that might not happen. I don’t remember the scratchy stage last long but it was a while ago. Love your blogs. Graham
Hi Both. Thanks for another very entertaining and enjoyable vlog. Can I just mention for future reference, when driving down through France (we live in sw France) that the A20 motorway south from Vierzon is free for around 290 kms. Towards the southern end you could use the A89 (toll road) to cut across to Bordeaux and rejoin your usual route. Just a thought for a bit of variety. All the best. Hope all is good at home.
Love to watch your videos. Always interesting even when just driving and parking. The park- ups are so nice compared to England. So cozy In your van. The puppues are so sweet!!, Great travelers. Even In a van there is always cleaning and laundry days. A beard In the begining does not look so good..but once full grown could be nice who knows. We will still love you either way. Happy trails. Greetings from Québec Canada ❤️🐾🐾
i agree... and i have tried both... its lovely to wend a way and see rural France and vlllages but it does take foreever... TOLL as long as one avoids the big public places where people stop... there are other nice places to stop even on an autoroute which are amazing in France,.
Ngl you four are always as cute AF. Sarah’s hair fascinates me. I wonder who does your hair? Love Nick’s Mohican. Grow a beard. Why tf not. Nick hopefully you’re all better now. For future reference I recently had a sniffle sore throat thing and I realised I had some Jägermeister. I took a small shot I mean just half the lid (top?) 3 times a day and I was better in no time (it’s full of magic herbs). Obviously not if you’re driving lol. Safe happy travels guys. Sending love and hugs from UK 🙄💐👏🤞🙌🙏🌤🐶🐶🇬🇧
Thanks to you I bought the Ecoflow power station. Should have cost£1,000 but using the forcing code got it for £600. Think I'll get the phone charger and the solar panels, thank you👍
Give it a few more years and your hair will be round your ankles, Gravity and age is cruel... Nick! My Husband is the same. Great vid guys after a stressful week My Washer died and was rather jealous looking at Sarah in the Laundry.. Look forward to Sunday if you are posting then.
Lovely video guys. You've got to give the beard a go Nick. I went for a full beard for the first time, and ten years later I still have it, just need a beard trimmer if you want to keep it in check, or let it go wild, as you said you can always shave it off if you hate it. Doeesn't take long to get past the itchy stage, maybe a week
Re beard , try the classic buzz cut hair( what’s left😂) and alternativo beard . It stops itching about 10 days in. Well for me anyway. Happy to see you back on the mainland
To cover distances quickly we all ways use the tolls, they're mile for mile , or Km for km far cheaper that the UK m6 toll, also we find we use less fuel, did you not consider getting the ferry to norther Spain, then drive straight into Portugal? Re crit air, yes they last the life of your windscreen lol, I thought you could purchase them at certain garages?
It looks so much better for van life facilities in France. I'm heading for southern Italy next week (in my EV, that has a camping mode). The CritAir sticker cost me about €4 including postage last year. I usually use the toll roads as it's such a long drive, but I'm wondering if i should try out a few of the toll free options. I go into Italy via the Frejus tunnel on the A43. Re the beard, I've never got past the itchy stage, so good luck with that Nick.
I wouldn't make generalizations about the toll roads in France... We drove down the other side of France about the same time through the fog and the services were PACKED!! On a Thursday as well... I think it was school holidays, but they obviously weren't going your way!
Its no good, i didnt realise i was in the least bit OCD …. But the trim on your shower cubicle has driven me mad, ever since you did the build 🤪 where you have the lovely blue, with white edging trim - the frim stops about 1 inch from the top 😆 and i see it every time it is in shot 😆😆
Just log onto the government website and order a critaire. You receive email confirmation which is good enough. Or if you can find access to a printer the email contains a temporary sticker.
For the future, if you are going to use the toll roads, get a badge. Then you just drive through, sometimes without even stopping and you are billed at the end of the month, then direct debit taken following month. Makes life so much easier.😊
Haha growing a beard, have to do it once I suppose, good luck! Yea, I say daft too xx Hey, you guys got out of the UK in the 'nick' of time actually, have you seen the snow, especially in Scotland, almost like you planned it, thanks for all the awesome filming. Luving the doggies in their jumpers, bless
Great to see you heading back south…I’m hoping that you may be calling in on your land in Portugal…now it should be looking green! I think Nick will look great with a beard!
I'm glad you're through France by now because we are having quite a bit of snow from the north east to the center! Grow the beard, it's winter! Jo in France 🇫🇷
We live in Brittany, we got snow for the first time in 4 years today. Weather app said minus 1, feels like minus 10. It cerrainly was a very chilly wind

Happy sunny days lovely folk x Really bloomin' cold in Wales now, you picked the right time to leg it to a sunnier climate.
We've seen the snow, very happy to be heading south. 😊
Flippin freezing everywhere!
You should give the ferry from Portsmouth to Santander, cuts out the whole drive through France, that motorway from Paris to Spain is really boring
Yes grow the beard I think it will suit you. I so enjoy travelling through France in a camper, it's just so inviting.
The UK has a lot to learn.
Thanks.. Beard is really starting to take shape now! Have a great day 😊
Soo glad u guys were able to visit with Nick's parents 😊
Thanks.. Of course! 🥰
That French salad is blooming delicious, it’s actually celeriac not celery. Same family but subtle difference in flavour 😋
Good to know! Yes it’s bloody lovely 😅😊
Lovely, authentic and kind couple and two gorgeous fur babies 💚💚💚💚
You are so kind❤.. Thanks for the message xx
Such lovely, laid back, relaxing vlogs to watch. Thank you so much 🙏🪬😘 grow the beard and see if you like it, it’s you alone that has to live with it Nick 😘

Tolls definitely. A lot of the villages have 20mph speed limits now. Either way it is a joy to drive in France. Great vlog as always.
Thankyou so much ❤️ x
That was a fun watch. Love seeing the scenery. Glad you are back to Spain. I am looking forward to the Sunday video.
Thanks Sally! ❤ see you Sunday xx

Awwww.. Thank you! Will do!❤

Yay, a Sunday video! Regarding Nick wth a beard, you'll look older ... but wiser.

Have a break when you get home. Its been a difficult time.
❤
First! Sat here with a cup of tea waiting!!
Whoop whoop😘❤️
Love France for their van friendly towns and villages. I think the French take their vacations seriously and expect good and welcoming stops.
The UK is just a mess, they want money for everything, even parking.
Cleriac rather than celery and its gorgeous. Got some from lidl france earlier this year andits a real game changer 🤗
When i drove south through France, there was a parallel road next to the toll road with very little traffic, it was free and just as quick, it may have changed since then though

Wow, that’s amazing! So glad you have these memories ❤ xx
Happy to see you going back home! Must be so exciting, especially now you have the land in Portugal! Look forward to seeing the next leg of your journey.
Very glad to hear that your village is OK. The floods have been so terrible for Spain.
So sad for the people whose lives have been devastating by the floods.
😊Thank you for showing us around Scotland and other places. I'm looking forward to the next chapter 😊 make sure you get some time for yourselves ❤
Thanks for watching! Lots more to come from us with brighter skies and lots more of this - ☀️.. Keep warm xx
Dizzy was like: "why isn't he petting me?" the entire time Nick was petting charlie lol
We always go, Rouen, Evreux, Dreux, Chartres and Chateaudun to Tours. All non toll and takes little longer than the toll. Take the toll to Poitiers then non toll N10 to Bordeaux. Toll to the border.
Thanks.. Will make a note for next time! Sounds like you know the roads 🙌.. The tolls are great but all the way they are pretty expensive 😅
@@theexPAWers We have a house in Central Portugal so have travelled the route 3 or 4 times a year for the last 20 years.
Great video guys...it's been a couple of touth months but I'm so looking forward to Sunday 😉 take care ❤

Stop encouraging Greed.
U scared me for a minute with the title I've been sick and thought u were totally done im glad to see not stopping 😊😊
Oh yes! Sorry, in the UK it’s over but we love van life so that will never be over for us! 🚐❤️
It’s called Clickbait and I think it’s a very dishonest practice. If people like you and your Channel and follow you, then they will watch your videos. I hate clicking on a blog with a title only to find it’s not what the title infers.
I think it’s Celeriac not Celery.
Yes it’s definitely grated Celeriac, not Celery.
Omgosh...we first had celeriac remoulade in France in 1975 and I have been making it ever since. It is a big brown sometimes "hairy" bulb that tastes faintly of celery. Much love xxx
Goatee Nick 😂😂😂
Us too! Nice to see that big yellow thing in the sky again. 😂
I look forward to seeing you guys...such lovely, warm people and your doggies are a delight ❤
You are so kind, Thanks so much for watching..❤️❤️
It's good to see the sun and for you guys to feel it's warmth. Send us some back over to the uk please!!! Looking forward to Sunday now.
Whenever we tour the continent we set the sat nav to avoid tolls. Brilliant. It took us eight days this September to get to Nice!
It's our first trip on the tolls, worth it if you're in a rush but you miss the lovely little French villages and towns.
@theexPAWers The only downside are the innumerable vicious speed humps through the towns & villages. Fine in a car, but as you know, in a van everything becomes airborne at anything over walking pace!
That sounds like a Tom Tom!
It only took me 6 days hitch hiking. and made new friends along the way.
Great vlog both . I let my beard grow for 4weeks before then styling /trimming to length. Itchiness takes me about ten days to overcome.
Thanks for the info, good to know about the itchiness. I'll see how I go. 😉
Reminds us of our trip in 2019 with our 2 dogs in our old motorhome down to Spain 😊
Love the dogs ❤
Exactly the same wheeltrims that I've got, looking good.take care you two, and the doggies.
Put some plastic ties on your wheeltrims because you don't want to lose one like I did, bought another set now I've got three spare ones ha ha.
Less than 5 weeks to Christmas 🎄 surprised you didn't stay till after. Safe journey 👍🐸
Maybe next year, we were missing the nice weather too much. 😁
guys. if you take the san sabastian route there is an excellent campsite near the border. its just off the highway but feels like a little oasis. the people who run the bar are wonderful and the tapa is excellent. doggies are well loved too. try the local beer. very very good! Camping Oliden
In the algarve Portugal suns out in shorts and T-shirt,your definitely heading in the right direction
nice to see you going back to europe, the reason we started watching you was because of the portugal stuff and then grew to love all your other content

Dizzy was funny with that apple core 😂🍏
Thank you. Stay safe!
I love Sarah with the dreads and if Nick grows a beard that would be a 🙂👍 nice look. It reminds me of the 70's which was a good time.
There's some great places in south of France , weather may not be great , but it's a great journey back to Spain 💛🙌
We love France but just driving though this time.
Ahh bless you, taking it steady and hope your portugal land and your home are safe. ❤
Celery remoulade is amazing and also the carrot version ❤ loving the vlog x
Will have to try that one aswell. 😁
Daw enjoy following your journeys keep a look out for you.
great see travel vlog keep up the great vid on travels and stay safe and warm thanks for
share
Glad see you back in your element. The continent certainly knows how to look after vanlifers! Pay attention UK! N&Nx
In UK the councils have no clue, except hatred for campervans which they are very good at.
Love to watch your videos. Always interesting even when just driving and parking. The park- ups are so nice compared to England. So cozy In your van. The puppues are so sweet!!, Great travelers. You are always welcome to stop in this village and have a bath if you wish and bring some food to cook or I can see what to rustle up...
Nicks New Look - really didn´t notice until you mentioned it 🤣🤣
A beard that's clean and close would look awesome I think. Enjoy your journey ❤
i agree... and i have tried both... its lovely to wend a way and see rural France and vlllages but it does take foreever... TOLL as long as one avoids the big public places where people stop... there are other nice places to stop even on an autoroute which are amazing in France,.

Do hope all will be well when you get home. Another enjoyable video, thanks. Not a fan of beards, but you can always shave it off 😊.
Thanks to you I bought the Ecoflow power station. Should have cost£1,000 but using the forcing code got it for £600. Think I'll get the phone charger and the solar panels, thank you👍
Awesome! Yeah EcoFlow make fantastic products, top quality and great customer service too, highly recommend😊

Would love to get the ferry but you have to book months in advance for a pet cabin unfortunately. 😔 Agree with you on using less fuel.
It looks so much better for van life facilities in France. I'm heading for southern Italy next week (in my EV, that has a camping mode). Try this salad of celeriac remoulade with apples walnuts and grain mustard....great with goat cheese .
Sorry to see you go 😢, but you left at the right time, we've had snow today.... its freezing ❄️ here in Dorset.
Personally I hate moustaches and not keen on beards but it’s your face so go for it. Do what makes you happy 😊❤

Happy travels amigos, keep the beard Nick,it suits you.
Go for the beard you can match Dizzie 😂🤣 buy some beard oil to help with the itching. Safe journey home. Sara love the crocs in the shower. x
Thanks for the tip, think the beard will be a dizzee colour match. 😂
Back on the road again take care be safe. ❤😊
Hot weather, food and beards…….No No! Great VLOG again.
Another great show, seems more relaxed, enjoy
We live in Brittany, we got snow for the first time in 4 years today. Weather app said minus 1, feels like minus 10. It cerrainly was a very chilly wind
Great video as always 😊
