I would recommend also doing a close deck insert for the open deck on the 3cyl. This will also aid in strengthening the cylinders. This is very common on open deck Aluminum blocks
@@mcqcjc8409 yes. It is very common to close deck, sleeve and o ring an OE open deck aluminum block. The close decking will support the top of the cylinders a lot more keeping them from moving around under high boost. So this makes it a lot less likely to crack a cylinder when it can’t move.
It might be common but how much real effect it gives? I would be more worried about lifting head - then the sleeves might move. I guess next stage is bigger head studs
I would not have guessed that HEMI was going into essentiality a giant jet ski. I can only imagine what that thing will handle like with those controls. I hope we get to see a video of someone driving it! I’ve been so invested in the build of that engine and I’m excited to see it finished.

Yaris GR lump yamaha helped them again. The new era of 3 pot turbo bike engines are due in 2028 when WSBK changes from the current inline 1000cc 4s and v4s. They are only 880-900cc and already they are producing 250+hp in testing. The bikes are going to become a lot faster after 2028 by the looks of things. The rumours are they are even managing to keep the bikes under 150kg so massive power to weight ratio hike inbound for the bikers thats for sure

I love the liquid nitrogen trick. Do you ever have an issue causing cracks in the original cylinder wall when heating the bore and super cooling the sleeve? Or is there another purpose in heating the bore other than thermal expansion?

When a guy that drives a 4k HP woody wagon and makes 1000HP 3 cylinder motors calls something crazy that means something. I'm Guessing 2400HP on the BBH. Well poop, I guess I under estimated, I thought the pump gas would affect it more. I'm going to raise my guess for tomorrow to 2700.
I educated guessed 2690 back months ago. If you look at what the other smaller engines are putting up then this thing ought to go to the damned moon if they ran methanol. BBH has somewhere around 1/3 more displacement than the SMX... let that figure sink in!
Steve, you need to be working with a company down in Paw Paw. Whalen Speed has produced a fully billet 900cc rotax engine that is currently being ran in some can am's I believe. Will probably have to move to closed deck in order for this engine to live at a 1000hp.
I just oring and receiver grooved my sbf so we could cram some power in it. I had to use a .092 copper head gasket to leave the correct amount of room to fill the cylinder. Is there a point where the head gasket is too thick for the oring and receiver to press a grove in it correctly?
Would you be able to do these sleeves in a seaDoo jetski engine with the block and cylinder head modification? I'm very interested in having this done. If that is something you can do. I would like to hear back from you. Thank you for your time. Keep up the great work
The wire based flexible exhaust coupling is most likely leaking under boost as I had 2 of them on a twin turbo 351 on a engine dyno and they where leaking and throwing sparks under boost , changed then to the non wire flexible versions and problem solved 😃

I mentioned about the new era of 3 pots back when you asked what funky engines we want to see👍 See the new era of motorbike engines that are to replace the current 1000cc inline 4s in WSBK around 2028 they are to be 880-900cc turbod 3pots. They are already making 250+bhp in testing. They are aiming to release them at around 235-240hp i think Yamaha and Susuki will release the first ones as they're the first two to bow out of 1000cc superbikes they are stopping production of R1 and Gsxr1000 soon sadly. On the upside once these new breed of super light and powerful engines become the norm in sportsbikes they are going to be absolutely ballistic. Pow/weight up at 1500+ per ton even with the rider on them😮
Just wondering why you don’t put some loctite in the cylinders before you put the sleeves in. I sleeve things all the time and I always use some loctite during the process.
Glen Hall, Craig Compton, and the crew at hypersports have been making over 1,000 hp from 2 and 3 cylinder Arctic Cat snowmobile engines for a decade or more.
Actually his 4 cylinder does I don’t think his 3 does and pretty sure his 2 definitely does not. But if you can show me different I’m happy to say I was wrong
If you want to make a bunch of power, mix concentrated hydrogen peroxide with nitromethane (in the correct blend) injected into an engine. Way better than NOX or compressors. Very cheap BIG power, but you'd better have some good internals or you will window your block. This is on top of an engine running on pump gas. You mix it so the injected nitro has the correct air/fuel ratio, but remember, the hydrogen is also a very powerful fuel.
Can you do a video on that boat when it’s done? That’s insane. We had a boat once that we put a motor in the back of that was too heavy and it sank. The only way we could use it was to keep moving or the water came over the back

Hi Steve, with the blazer, would there be a water saturation problem at the turbo filter if you get caught in the rain on a drive? Just curious because I have some ideas for a totally different application on a Mercedes but I’m worried about water saturation through rain while driving.
They make something called a block guard for Hondas with an open deck that fits in the openings to support the top of the bore and deck. I don't know if something like that would help anything but it looks like a good idea for a Honda. You might want to check them out you could make some trick SM ones for the guys using a stock block 3 cylinder .lol Soon you're going to need a hull dyno, a big pool with a scale tethered to the watercraft then make a hit ! lol
I'm making over 600hp with my can am 900cc utv engine, fully built, cnc head 48psi xr54 turbo on e85 At this power level it becomes a challenge to keep the clutch taper on the crank from spinning

If it’s anything like the jet ski engines, they’re not sleeved from factory at all. There plasma treated bores straight ontop of the aluminium.

I believe brp plasma coats the cylinder sleeves in their Rotax engines by spraying it into the aluminum block.

The sleeve has a rough finish on the outside and is placed where it goes in the casting before the aluminum is poured to keep sleeve from moving.

With your oxygen fuel torch. Turn just the fuel on for the soot. Blacken your area then turn on the oxygen. The soot will burn off at 400*

It is only .002 press so it does not crack when cooled
