Hi Guys, apologies for the low sound on this video. It’s a new microphone as my old one was glitching out. I’ll be sure to sort it out for the next one. Elissa
If I could like this video twice I would! 👍👍😃This is the sort of video that I completely geek out about! Everything is so orderly, but nothing looks sterile. You’ve done a great job of balancing organization with a cozy atmosphere! 👏👏👏Thank you for sharing your lovely space… 💗 I’m sure I will be coming back to reference it often.😊
Trisha Brink thanks Trisha, it’s been a slow, organic process of acquiring what I need over the years. I am glad you enjoyed your visit and hope you got some inspiration for your place. 😁
@@MoatCottage I bet! Those coffee jars are pretty great! I’ve been gifted a lot of canning jars over the years. Some from my late mother, my aunts and many other older ladies who just don’t can anymore. It’s such a blessing to have good mentors, family and friends... isn’t it?💗
This video is a joy to watch. You've created a beautiful and functional pantry/larder that reflects years of thinking. It is a living system. You can see at a glance what is running low or needs to be used up. Love your idea of using sticks to hang dry herbs. I'm fortunate to have peeled log beams in my kitchen for this or I would be trying it. I too keep my dehydrator plugged in and ready to use at all times in my pantry. We don't have coffee jars that I'm aware of in the US but fancy candles are sold in jars and I've collected a number of them over the years to use as canisters. Thank you for another wonderful video, I enjoy your channel. 🌸Michele
Hi Elissa! I love all your ideas. And the herbs drying from sticks is so charming...yet so practical!! Hope you are doing well and staying happy, healthy, and safe. Love, Mary❤️😘❤️
Mary's Nest hello sweet Mary, yes we are all doing well down here. I have had some time out, for required rest and am better off for it now. I hope all is well with you and your family and I see you are super busy with your wonderful channel. It is so exciting to know, so many people are learning to cook from scratch. Much love to you my friend - Elissa 💕😊
Wonderful homestead kitchen, love it.. TFS… totally understand the weather and ideas… my own personal journey…we are at the edge of the desert by the mighty Murray…nice to find like minded Aussies 😊
I liked all of this! I’ve always enjoyed organizing and seeing how others use their space. Your idea for storing the canning rings though is unique and fun!
Great to see how you store things. I'm new at doing this, eg, veggie garden and having a prepper pantry. I have a very small cottage home, so I have to be creative with storage.
I just love this. I really love the use of the coffee jars. I have several and I love how fresh that they keep the food. Thank you for sharing this video.
The Adventures of Zoom and Bettie also try your local FB community or buy swap and sell pages, op shops often have them (when they’re open) but definitely start with your friends and family 😊
I absolutely love your pantry storage ideas, it's a great use of space without the need to actually build anything. I can't wait to have the room at my next place to have ALL my preserving stuff in the one space. A girl can dream...lol xx Cathi xx
Great tips. My favorite of the tips is to build up your collection gradually. The volume sounded good to me and I didn't even have to use my louder external speakers. Lee's and my autistic son Daniel tends to dump out whatever dry or liquid goods I store within his reach and break any pottery I leave on the counter. He's nearly my height and likely will be taller than me when he reaches his maximum height so we need locking cabinets.
Hello Jean Woodall yes that is definitely going to guide how you manage your kitchen storage. Locking your cupboards is a good tip to others in a similar situation. Thanks for sharing that tip. I am glad you were able to hear this video ok, I know it’s not up to my usual audio level. 😊
I love watching your videos I've been watching Mary nest for long while through her I'm now watching and subscribing to your channel. I love your kitchen. Can't wait to watch your other videos.
Donna Henrichs hello Donna and welcome to Moat Cottage, Mary is a wonderful person and a fabulous educator and I’m so thrilled to have you as part of the Moat Cottage Community too. 😃👏👋🏽
Moat Cottage Homesteading yes I’m very excited! Covid has slowed me down as I haven’t been able to hire help, but am slowly getting this house ready to sell. I have CFS too so slowly is a key word there. There’s almost nothing new being listed in the area I’m looking at the moment, but I think once stage 3 & 4 get stepped back there will be lots. Before this, there was something that could work for me being listed about every week.
I use my same coffee jars to put my cats biscuits in because I couldn’t handle the mice or bugs it works perfectly I use them also for other things as well. I love your kitchen
Sharon Moore Greeting from Tasmania. Hi Sharon my name is Sharyn Moor as well, a little different spelling though. I just love using the same coffee jars as well.
Wonderfully organised - I have dresser envy - I think you called it a hutch? Getting there slowly but surely. Most of the cupboard space in this house is too high for me to reach the shelves - and I'm not short so have to get my husband to reach for things or use a long strainer thingy to pull things to the front - and then I catch them! One of these days I'll probably miss! I think a giant lived here before. Even bathroom cupboards are up high! Can't wait to have it all done to my specs - and height! Well actually I will have to wait a fair while! LOL! Thank you.
Kerry L yes I call my dresser a hutch, in Australia a dresser would be in the bedroom. But whatever we call it, it’s great for storage 😄 Wow a giants house, it sounds like you’ve mastered the art of living in it. The very old farm house I lived in before here, had a sink so low that I had to sit in a chair to reach the dishes and water in the sink for that matter. This house seems so much higher but I still have to bend down to wash my hands. It’s funny how houses are built to a certain height and we make do.
The house was built in the 1920s so a little Victorian with huge bay windows and picture rails in some rooms. It is a big house, but the kitchen is so tiny - we are hoping to extend it next year (planning has been permitted and we hoped to do it this year then THAT virus happened - pffft!) - we still have things piled in boxes because we have nowhere to put them! All the jars are in boxes in the leaky garage - also destined for renovating!
Kerry L it sounds lovely, a place with good character and the Kitchen will be fabulous once it’s renovated, I hope progress can begin ASAP and then you can have a place for everything. 😃
I enjoyed seeing how you store everything... I love the white hand-painted labels on your jars... I think I will try that for myself. Your kitchen looks a lot like the way I would have it... if I had your space... Mine is very different, but you gave me ideas for my storage pantry that I am in the midst of planning and creating.... converting a large closet into a pantry....
Little Bean's Garden hi Zule, how exciting, I am so thrilled you are on the canning journey. I hope you and your family are back to full health and that you’re able to be back in the garden.
G'day Elissa, great tips I love the hanger for the garlic and onions that's a great idea. My new place has a nice big pantry so I'm excited to start filling it up. Stay safe and God bless you. 🦘👍
InYa Yard Homestead congratulations on your new place Josh. I am really looking forward to the tour, especially the pantry. I hope the move is going smoothly 😁
Great ideas! 💯 So glad you have the space to do that. It all looks so neat & tidy. I like your coffee jars. Bless grandma! 🙏 Do you have excess spices in them? Are you a prepper? & Elissa replies, "Hell yeah! I'm a prepper!" 🤣😂 i still love you saying that in a past video. 😘♥️
HootOwl Holler 😂 ahhh yes, you’re making me laugh at that memory. I do have excess spices, herbs, nuts and the hidden jar full of cooking chocolate. Many of my herbs I can access fresh all year but it’s good to have back up too. These jars seal well and are hardy for years of family use, so I use them for all sorts of things, just not in the freezer. 😁
Hi Elisa I notice you keep your eggs on the table not the fridge we have free range chickens now, should we keep the eggs out of the fridge? Hope you're well and safe during this corona madness God bless
Love this video and your channel. I have heard that the ‘M’ coffee jars are not airtight and shouldn’t be used for long term storage (odd). Have you had any problems with them?
Hi CazzB, I live in a dry location that rarely gets humidity and haven’t had issues with the food I’m currently using being damaged. I do store my nuts and coffee jars in the fridge. My yogurt starter powder is bagged in the jar and my honey jar sits in a bowl of water to prevent ants. My long term food storage is managed in big buckets before making its way to the jars. Everything you see on my shelves in the jars is good.

Love your vids., The volume is way too low on this one though. Luckily, I was able to enable subtitles.

Yes Wendy Pearce, excellent, creativity is the key. I am so glad you’re now on this journey 😊
Everything looks beautiful

Glam by Cheryl there is a lot and everything has its place 😊
The coffee jars are such a brilliant idea!!
The Adventures of Zoom and Bettie they are really hardy too and as Aussies you can get them too. ☕️
@@MoatCottage We don't drink coffee really in our household, but I'm thinking of putting the call out to friends and family!

Its a well set out room that's also beautiful. I love the old world style :) thanks for sharing your tips and ideas.
Love the way the clear glass looks throughout your space. Looks tidy and clean.
Crafty 79 thank you, it’s definitely good for cooking inspiration to have everything on display and I can see when something is getting low. 😊
