Today, 11 March at 17:15 Dutch time (the exact day and time of George's birthday), we're going to play 'Radar Love'. So wherever you are in the world - join in, till George hears it himself... Thank you for all the golden moments 🤘
Travelled from Ireland to see Golden Earring twice now. They didn't play Vanilla Queen on either occasion so I enjoyed it here. Got to meet them all backstage in Den Haag. They love their fans and I have loved them for almost 40 years. What a band. - prachtig !
@@codyjames9376 The group was founded in 1961, making it the oldest surviving rock band in the Netherlands and one of the longest existing bands in the world. The lead singer is Barry Hay (Faizabad (India), 16 August 1948). Unfortunately today the band decided to quit... The guitarist George Kooymans was diagnosed with ALS last year and has indicated he can no longer perform. The other band members decided that without George there is no Golden Earring
Cesar is a freaking maniac on drums! Just amazing!! And Barry....what a voice! The band...seriously, one of my most favorite songs ever! :) This band will forever remain timeless!

Truelly sad .. After 60 years the end of the Golden Earring, due to the illness of guitarplayer George Kooymans. But like true friends above all, there's no Golden Earring without George. Barry, Cesar and Rinus made the right choice never to perform any more as the Golden Earring.

I'll never forget suddenly hearing the church bells playing Radar Love's intro when I lived in the center of The Hague. In the same street as Cesar Zuiderwijk actually!
I remember when they were still called Golden Earings. Performing everywhere they could. Top Gear with Clarkson and Co, called this the best driving song ever..
Zet 11 maart 2021 om 17.15 u jouw mooiste versie van Radar Love aan ... iedereen mag het horen ! als soort afscheid van Golden Earring... zeg het voort . . .
they remind me of great days in 1972 /3 , but they ve just got better with age , like a rare old brandy , so cool and blow your head off ! MAGIC ! cheers ritchie and thankyou so much !
ja ja ja, das ist meine Musik. Golden Earring begleiten mich nun weit über 45 Jahre und die Männer haben es immer noch drauf, da können sich all die jungen Musiker noch was abschauen - LET`S ROCK 🎸🔥💪
@@willemvanpelt1694 I’m just learning that they’re ending their run as a band because George (lead guitarist) has been diagnosed with ALS. It’s kind of sad that this news hasn’t gotten much coverage in the U.S. outside of news sites devoted to classic rock music. Golden Earring was one of several Dutch artists (not just rock artists, but pop artists as well) who managed to get some chart success in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and “Radar Love” is still regarded here as a great “driving song” (a song you can listen to while driving on a long road trip) here in the States. I’m sad to see their career is ending the way it is, and ALS (or any disease that progressively gets worse until the person dies) is especially cruel. I would know. I lost my mom to Alzheimer’s last year. Her case progressed slower than ALS typically does, but it was the longest goodbye seeing the mom I knew growing up slowly losing every ability that made her human, and then it finally took her ability to survive. I know it’s sad to talk about this in relation to George’s situation, but if the world knew my mother, it’d be scratching its head at why such a kind and gentle woman like my mother would be struck by such a cruel disease. I’m sure the world is wondering why such an accomplished musician like George is being struck by an equally cruel disease. The whole thing is just heartbreaking.
@@crystalp7242 I agree it's sad the band has to end like this. They decided not to continue with a replacement; the band wouldn't be the same without George - or any of the other members. I'm very glad to have seen them live a couple of times; they were/are amazing musicians.
This was released year i started college i was listening to king krimson at oxford . But earing they rocked me into reality with this simple tune ,that drumer is the real macoy he keeps that beat oh so firm tell ya , amazing dutchman .
I met them many times My scout master serviced their cars and I was often at the Garage when they brought their cars in for service........................In awe Great Band Im 61 and they still ROCK
Each and every musician of the Dutch Rock-Pop-Scene 'Golden Earring' is with all RESPECT, an Icon and deserve their position in the nr. 15 American Top Music Star. One of the very best playing his drums: listen to Cesar Zuiderwijk's solo !!!

Grandpas?? They've been playing since 1961; that's 59 years (it's 2020). Their great grandchildren are probably watching! And that grin that tells the 20 somethings (Sina excepted) to "sit down, shut up, hold your milk and watch someone REALLY play the drums!"
These guys are the true spirit of rock & roll! It's a shame that these guys stayed just out reach of sustained popularity. They still shred it and Barry's voice is as good as ever! Who is the second guitarist??
Thank-you! I just saw that the other day when I watched the Golden Earring documentary from last year. Very sad news about George. I wish him and his family well along with this band that defied all odds to play together for over 50 years with the same lineup.

Actually, he has been using the double neck for a very long time. This recording must be some 40 years old: ua-cam.com/video/jhzzeqY7vWs/v-deo.html
