Hi, Only been shooting air rifles for a year, get to the range 3 times a week. I fancy a go at HFT but no good at standing shots, my 63 year old knees don't like being kneeled on a lot. Interested to know more about the sport looked at several video's. I have even mailed A HFT body that has a link on shooting the breeze but never had a reply. I have PCPs not sure which one would be more suited to try it out. Any help advice would be good, Thanks.
Hi everyone, I hope you enjoy the video and please share it. Now, I know some of you will be angry with me for taking my gun out my bag with the scope, So, we are going to debate this on lifeattherange on Facebook.
It's an interesting one, I 100% agree that you should not be walking around a course using the scope to carry the rifle, but taking it out of a bag, pointing down range, I think it's OK.
You are doing it rong! If you look through the hole of the trigger and you see your finger. its a no go! It's a matter of time I see your finger rap around the trigger.
@@garychillingworth I was given a safety briefing at a rifle and pistol club, where air gunners were the minority. The rule there was carry muzzle up and applied to powder burners and airguns alike, as the club floor was concrete it made sense because a discharged bullet or Pellet would no doubt ricochet off it. I adopted this safety discipline and the first time I took out my gun at a local HFT club, I was reprimanded by a Marshall for not holding my rifle muzzle down. I,The explanation for the different ruling lay in the soft soil, as opposed to a hard concrete surface. Thanks for a very good safety video. 👍
thanks for this. Going to the range for the first time tomorrow and now feel better about having some basic knowledge. Will watch again

@@youngeroldie5089 There is a great club called Misfits, if you want to have a go at hft, that is the place to go in leicstershire.

@@sawmdawnga494 humiliated! they got to the final, I don't think many teams did that well.
Why not? It’s a very handy handle and if anyone is worried about doing this can alter the zero, then they need better mounts! 😁
The one that grinds my gears, and is always mentioned in the safety brief is "don't carry the gun by the scope" ;)

Oops .. just realised in the comment below you directly referenced this grievance! Apologies!
@@WallyHale21 buddy, that's what we want, a good discussion on what's right and wrong.
If you are going forward of the firing point check everyone's gun is unloaded first physically have a look

Re barrel down. You said a round falling at terminal velocity, 160mph, would just bounce off your head ... care to demonstrate? 😁
No problems at all, they did it on Mythbusters 😀
