Hi friends! Today I decided to try more Amazon stamping plates for nail art - this time I'm experimenting with the brand Born Pretty Store and trying their 8 stamping plate set with a ton of different designs for nail art! What do you think of this kit?

Stamping plates are like a bottomless pit, you fall into it and you never know when it will end. I wish I never bought my first one 😅

@peekablue7472 I need this book. I have mine store in a decorative box that's so heavy Mike Tyson would be impressed I can move the thing. But they're all in order by number. It's like my cds and dvds and games. Alphabetical order. Bookshelf the same way. It's how I find things quickly. I probably need 4 books. I'm not ashamed. I even have little round plates. Can't even remember where I got them. They're Born Pretty as well. They're meant for image over image stamping. The whole plate makes a final image. Start with a flower shape, then outline, then more detail for petals, then leaves, then water on petals. They're really cool. But man are those time consuming. You have to be dedicated to go through all of that for a flower. But stamping is soooo fun. I addicted 4 friends and I'm not sorry.

I'm glad you brought up the backing cards! I bought a moyra plate and it also has no backing, I cut myself on it every time I used it, and then some friendly folk in a nail forum pointed me in the direction of sticky-topped plastic backers that you can buy to apply onto plates like that. Life saver! (well, fingertip saver)
Ooh I may need to buy some of those for my other Amazon plates haha!
I actually have, I think about 40 Born Pretty plates. I know that because they're numbered. How many I have of other brands... well, we won't talk about that. Let's just say I don't have to freehand any design. Ever. 😂😂 But I love stamping. I had gotten into water marbling for a while. Found a plate for that!! I have several of the ones you showed. The winter one, the lace, the one with lips... yep got those. And it's not that expensive. Plus you'll have people say you have to have a stamping polish... not true. A good pigmented polish is great for stamping. Amazon has some great deals on stamping plates. It's where I bought my first one.
Crazy, I JUST watched one of your other Amazon stamping plate review. Learning so much and the possibilities are endless with stamping.

I love Born Pretty stamping plates! I have some beautiful ones from them including quite a few Halloween ones that I use whenever I feel extra Goth lol. A friend of mine clearly recognised my addiction as she made me a ring binder with plastic sleeves to house them all! You had some great new ideas for me to try out here, I have a similar plaid plate and that golden flower on top looked really stunning.
From personal experience, metallic stamping polishes seem to dry a bit faster than the creme stamping polishes. Awesome video. Born Pretty has some nice plates. They were the start of my stamping journey which culminated with me having a Maniology subscription. The rabbit hole is deep....yet SO MUCH FUN.
I couldn’t click fast enough!😂 great video! The plates look great. I’ve been wanting a good plaid plate anyway. Nice timing as I just order 5 new stamping polishes. Another really good stamper is the Pueen XL.
I’m not a great singer but I sing in a church choir. I used to love to dance. I still do, at home. I’ve never done either one alone but I think it would be dancing if I had to choose!

I would sing! I love both dancing and singing. I also have been quite shy in the past, but I have always been a performer. I was writing and performing comedy and oddly enough, it helped me find my voice. My boyfriend at the time, now husband, heard me sing something funny and realized that I had a big voice. I just didn’t have the confidence to even try it out. But because if you’re funny, you don’t have to be good, I allowed myself to really sing. Wild way to find out I have a big voice (in my thirties lol)
I encourage anybody reading this who has not let themselves try out their voice, to try again! 🥰💗💪😎
These were some of the first plates I ever bought. That dot plate is the bain of my existence! I have never been able to pick up the designs on that plate with any stamping polish.
Man was that last one ever a happy accident! I loved the plaid/flower combo! 🥰🥰🥰

A tip for people with medium or long nails: full nail designs on Born Pretty plates tend to be on the small side. My nails are medium length (2 cm) and none of the full nail designs on my 12 BP plates will cover my nails. I just use the individual detail stamps ( or some full nail designs can work as a partial stamp on tips)
I learned how to stamp watching 'clear jelly stamper' videos. I roll the stamper over the plate fairly quickly and it picks up better with finer detail.

I love the look of the dots and thicker designs having small bits missing. It looks intentional and adds details!

Ironically, I was looking at stamping plates on amazon the other day and glanced at that set for a moment. I used to do stamping in the past and just recently got back into it. I have learned a majority of my stamping skills from your videos haha.

The best stamping I ever did was with the checked pattern on that plaid plate. I did hot pink nails with black and turquoise checks and they were so 90's!
I'm so pleased that I was able to transfer the design without any spots or bubbles haha seriously an impressive plate!

Oh my God, the would you rather 😂 I have danced on stage in front of an audience with my daughter and other parents and daughters at their dance concert and it was so stressful. I practised every day for a month and still was so nervous. I could never do it alone 😭

I would prolly dance because I used to be a tribal belly dancer. I loved performing the dances that my troupe leader choreographed. She is very talented in that aspect. :D I like to sing too, but I feel like I would get too pitchy or flat.

I really would like to get back to stamping...I feel I say that every time you put a stamping video out. Ha ha. I love plaid plates but I think the dainty flower and things plate is super cute. I love the kiss design, Kiss is my nickname (my name is Kissandra) and I can sing but I’m not comfortable singing in front of others sadly lol. I have this exact set of stamping plates and it's good to know that they don't actually suck but my stamping skills do LOL, guess it's time to try it out again to get more practice
🙈 it can be tough to get the hang of it!!
I use a makeup sponge (with acetone) to clean my stamping plates - they don't leave the same fuzz that cotton balls and Q tips do, and like with sponging gradients, you can cut off the spent parts and keep using it until it's no longer functional.

I have this exact set, and I hardly ever use the dots. You have to work really fast and it's inconsistent. I love the rest of them, though! I use Orly's bonder basecoat so I will have to try the reverse stamping!
Ohh yeah reverse stamping is sooo fun for getting little details colored in!!
I am another one that needs to go to stamping plate addiction support group. I have many BP plates, including the 1st plate you tried (currently have leaf, hand painted lady bug and water droplets mani). I am a triple threat, but singing is my strongest, so definitely that.

I've watched so many tutorials but I swear other folks make it look so easy & I'm like "What is this sorcery?!!" 😭🤣
This is such a random tip but have you ever left your stamper head out on a piece of paper overnight before using it? Sometimes they're really oily and it can prevent the polish from getting picked up properly 🤣
@@KelliMarissayes! I tried this a few weeks ago & stuff came off the stamper head but it didn't fix anything 😂
I know it's completely my own error but I practice every few weeks, get super frustrated & then try again but nothing changes 🥴
Maybe I'm still pressing too hard or Maybe I am just not blessed with this particular skill 😂
Nice test! I'm not sure the dotted designs "fails" have to do with the plates, metallic polishes are notoriously hard to stamp with because they dry very quickly. So it might be worth trying the same designs with a cream polish.

Depending on the song, I’d much rather sing. I’m not a public dancer. That said, when I was in Niagara Falls, ON, Canada with my husband recently, we went to a Chubby Checker show. We had front row for a very reasonable price! Anyway, he came down from the stage and randomly picked people to shake it with him. He picked me and I *had* to do it. I mean, it’s freaking Chubby Checker! ❤😂

So... I have this exact set, bought a year or two ago, and this set made me swear. A lot. 😆 I don't know if my set is defective, or if they've improved their etching since I bought them, but no matter what I did, I could not get one single decent nail stamped. Ugh, I was so frustrated that I almost threw them away during a recent spring cleaning, but decided I will try them again at some point. I'm not inexperienced with stamping, I used the same tools and polishes that I use with my plates from other brands. Just nothing worked. I also bought this set mainly for the plaid, but after not being able to get anything from that plate to work, I eventually bought the "Pretty in Plaid" plate from Uber Chic. But I'm glad you had better success with this set, so I'll try them again eventually. 😋
Oh no! That's so odd, I wonder if it was defective etching? The only one I struggled with was the dotted designs! I guess it's probably too late to ask for a replacement 🙈🙈
Those Uber Chic Pretty In Plaid plates are amazing! There’s so many options and all their plates are etched so well!♥️
It’s not just you. I got this set a couple years ago as well and have struggled mightily. I can stamp beautifully with other brands and even with a different BP set but for whatever reason, some of these plates will have me going through nearly every design before I get a good enough pick up to use. The plaid, dots and lace particularly. And the wintery holidays. The nature type ones work pretty well for me. Maybe they’ve improved the etching since we got ours. 🤷🏻♀️
I have this exact same plate set and like it a lot!
Dancing would also be my choice, but only if I had to do it to save someone’s life or for a LOT of money. 😂

Born Pretty is the first brand I tried for stamping! I loved it, but apparently, I don't have the patience required to do it often. I need to find a nice quality stamper before I'll dive in again. I think that's where I got frustrated.
Ha! I'm actually a trained dancer, so I'd go for that option. I am a terrible singer 😂

I have this exact set 😅 I've had mixed results, overall pretty good but I wouldn't do 10 fingers with the thinner designs. Too many retries, takes too long and uses too much acetone for my taste. But not bad for the price, honestly. I think I also press a little too hard, which might be why I struggle with thinner designs
I've been wanting to try stamping but my nails are so small and tiny. Is stamping harder with smaller nails? I love the flannel nail with the flower and the star. Thanks for Sharing
I don’t think it’s harder specifically, but you do want to make sure that you are using stamping plates with small enough designs that it fits your nail!!
What kinds of gel polish do you use? Would you consider a video on gel polish?
I do have a playlist on gel polishes I use! I typically recommend Modelones and Beetles Gel!
I have so many Born Pretty plates and I've never been able to make it work for me. I think it's probably bc I'm using gel stamping polish from wish and I probably need better stampers. I'll try your stamper and watch some other of your videos about this to see what polishes will be my best bet.
Ooh yeah I've never managed to get gel to work for stamping tbh, it's a lot trickier to use!!
Thanks for the review, I love the inspiration of them and want to do the green/ green one tonight if I have time! I would much rather sing for 5 minutes anytime. I tried a zumba class with a friend last weekend and I felt like Koo Koo Kangaroo! Look them up😅

Hahaha easy question.... I'd definitely sing for sure, because I've been known to carry a tune, a time or two in my lifetime hahaha, whereas my dancing skills have always been terrible 😅

I've been a singer my entire life, more so when I was younger, it's hard to find an outlet for that as an adult, so my audience now is the walks of my house, the inside of my car and my poor, tolerant family, fir whom I'm so grateful for, they lovingly put up with me hahaha🫢 You have a very special skill: painting nails beautifully/nail art/nail maintenance and making UA-cam content, I'd rather have your skill set for sure👍🏻Love your channel ❤️❤️❤️
Last year for Christmas i got stamping plates from temu the designs are really pretty but o don't have the right polish to ise them is there also a way to tell of your stamping plates are good or bad I've seen your 101 on stamping plates but does the print have to be a certain depth to tell of their good or not just asking
Honestly it's hard to tell just from looking at them, the best way to know is to try them and see how well they pick up designs!
These are all cute, and I look at stamping plates periodically, but I haven't bought more since don't use the plates I currently have. The Amazon bundle sounds like a good bargain for those who want to get into stamping. If I were going to get plates, it would be botanical things, or Nordic patterns with reindeer and trees.
I feel like I'm usually most drawn to geometric patterns but I do love the nature style plates too!! There are just so many options haha!

Depends on if i am alone! I sang in choir in school for 7 yrs, and for way more than 5 mins. I have danced in front of people but its couples dancing not solo. also five minutes is super long for a dance routine turns out. so i guess i would default to singing?
Haha I don't think my voice could even handle five minutes of singing!
Hooooooow do you get the stamps to pick up?? I spent two hours trying over and over and only picked up about 1 out of every 10 tries. You make it look effortless
I like the stamping plates. I think I'll get these. How many times did you have to do it before you got it right?
For these specifically I did show my first attempt (and second if necessary haha) but I did try the dotted one four times before I gave up and just did the one color haha! But in general for stamping, it definitely took me a lot of tries before I figured out how to get the hang of it 😂

actually the backing of the plate prevents the plate from warping/bending which gives a better image

I have a question about stamping: if you clean off the plate with acetone, how do you not destroy your manicure on the hand holding the cotton ball? I tried stamping once but gave up almost immediately because I had already put a base color in all my nails and I couldn’t clean the plate without destroying my mani??
I either use a q tip or I hold the cotton ball with tweezers so I don't ruin my manicure!!
I choose dancing 100% but only because I already do that regularly anyway (not alone but in a group, I would die if I had to do it alone) super introverted dancer here 😅😂
Haha! I would love to actually practice dancing in like group classes but I really lack rhythm 😅😅

I have some of the clear stampers and I can’t get them to work and pick up the design. Please help me?
One thing I've learned to do with the clear stampers is to "prime" them by taking the rubber out and leaving it on a piece of paper overnight! For some reason they're a bit oily which can prevent the polish from picking up, the paper absorbs the extra oil and makes them much more useable!

I recommend a water based top coat to prevent smudging! I'm going to test a few out so I can make a specific brand recommendation :)

I absolutely love stamping plates, I am not very good at freehand nail art, so this method is the coolest thing ever. But I have to say that it took me so many tries to get it right, even though I have watched your videos on stamping. And also it is a bit difficult to work on all of your fingers without making a huge mess. So... I need to teach my partner how to do it for me
I had to ask him to clean my plates with acetone afterwards anyway. 🤭
It definitely has a learning curve haha! You should definitely make your partner do all the cleanup because that's the worst part LOL

You can! But I recommend using a really opaque polish to make it stand out against the base color!
