I am a 23 yr old from New Zealand and I want to learn Estonian and travel there! I learnt how to speak Russian, and that's how I was introduced to Estonian culture, but it is awesome in itself. Such a beautiful language - and funky music. Something about Estonia is just cool. I hope to visit there soon!
Tallinn is just a fairy tale town. So beautiful and cosy. But do visit Russia as well while you're in our hemisphere! A tad bit bigger country ;) , lots to see and experience.
The landscape and rivers of your country are a thing of fantasy. I have wanted to visit it for a long time... That makes NZ a lot cooler for me as an Estonian
music appart, estonian seems to be a pretty language. It's very interesting and new, I know nothing about Estonia but it feels like earing a language from medieval times mixed with funk.
Go north of to see the snow of Estonia, go south to see the hills and mountains, go east to heil the sun and go west to embrace the clouds and winds. 🟥🔺🔴
The thing is that Estonian is not Indo-European, like English, German, Italian or Russian. It's Fenno-Ugric (like Finnish, Hungarian, and languages of some ethnic groups in northern Russia), and therefore is completely different.
Visited Estonia last year for work & found it so peaceful & interesting.. Tallin was so cool & interesting.. the countryside was so calming & beautiful in its own way. I would like to go back for vacation some day. These tunes remind me of a great vegan cafe I had lunch in one day & they were spring tunes like these..
Listening to this on a sunday night with a thunderstorm going on outside. Our cats barely made it inside before the rain started and are now fast asleep on the couch :-D Right now life is good :-) Thanks for this!
this is easily one of my favorite UA-cam channels no matter what but back in hs i was the model UN representative for Estonia and i've had such an attachment ever since
if you put timestamps next to the track list, it'll organize the scrubbing bar on the video and make it easier for everyone to see what song is playing and give credit to the artists!
As a Brazilian, I could know less of Estonia despite have knowing a compatriot of that descent (believe, Brazilians with Estonian roots are very, very rare). What I can notice by this playlist is that they have a taste for classy tunes and what my surprise to hear a version of "Só Danço Samba" in that idiom and notice how well the metric of the verses was matched to the words of that idiom.
In the former USSR almost everyone would recognize A Banda by Chico Buarque, because a version of it was used in a popular cartoon. But it has no lyrics.
Valter Ojakäär - Rasked Veosed (Heavy cargo) Uno Naissoo - Kapriis (Caprice) Tõnu Naissoo - Rütmogrammid (Rhythmgrams) Not an actual word btw Marju Kuut & Uno Loop - Sa Tantsi Sambat (You dance Samba) Marju Kuut - Sa Tulid Augustis (You came in August) Ivo Linna & Apelsin - Aeg ei peatu (Time does not stop) Velly Joonas - Stopp, Seisku Aeg (Time, stand still) Kaja Kõlar, Ele Kõlar, Radar - Tulen saarelt (Coming from the island) -
You're right, it's a traditional way of singing in Estonia called 'regilaul'. And they're actually repeating the lead singer not responding. It's a continuous process with turns for a leader and the chorus: one person sings a verse, the others join at the last syllables and repeat the verse, then a leader sings again, etc. Presumably this pagan tradition 2 or 3 thousand years old.
Collage - Mets Neiude Vahel (Forest In Between The Maidens) ile Moğollar - Çığrık parçasının birbirine benzemesi ilginç tesadüf olmuş. Güzel bir seçki. Eline sağlık.
when you realize that the world is getting bigger every Sunday thanks to MAJ...
*The Baltic States have entered the chat*

These songs are pretty old. You wouldn't hear these so easily here.
You're the only channel on UA-cam that I actually click the bell for.
I've heard a bunch of these over the years, but bc Estonian music isn't too popular, not very many remixes. this was a treat to listen to, thank you.

Someone told me once Estonian sounds like a fairy language. I took it as a compliment 🧚
@@sirleoder6973 I really want to go to Estonia some day
@@herettahuston9457 When you do, definitely go to Parnu. Gorgeous area by the water.

Inacreditável
In estonian she sings: "sa tantsi sambat" - "you should dance samba".
In the former USSR almost everyone would recognize A Banda by Chico Buarque, because a version of it was used in a popular cartoon. But it has no lyrics.
That last tune absolutely jams, and Estonia has some great brass players.
ua-cam.com/video/1oFaMsFpdfg/v-deo.html also a cover which is still popular 😂🙂
This is great! Thanks for posting.. Love Estonian music!

lovely
Loved it! Kutlarım:)
There is only one type of answer to this kind of music and that is
Yes
Nice collage sample at the beginning
Bravo again... :)
The call and response style of singing seems to be popular in Estonian folk songs. I have run into various groups that still sing like this.
First track was amazing
Greetings from Eestimaa!!
You should definitely check out more of Jaak Joala, and also Tõnis Mägi and Anne Veski
Oh this is so nice
Agora sim o domingo começou

Collage - Mets Neiude Vahel (Forest In Between The Maidens) ile Moğollar - Çığrık parçasının birbirine benzemesi ilginç tesadüf olmuş. Güzel bir seçki. Eline sağlık.
