This was explored in the game Aliens Colonial Marines (not a good game I know) in it they explain that a cancerous placenta that links itself to a number of other other organs on an incredibly invasive level making it impossible to remove is created that will kill the host by shutting down the organs it has invaded so within that continuity under normal circumstances at least around the time of Aliens and Alien 3 even if the chest burster was removed the host would still die, though I suppose theoretically if the chest burster was removed and they could somehow remove the placenta and all the organs it's attached to and replace them with transplants it might be survivable, whilst in the comics this is not the case and 1 person even survived being chest bursted
Thank you for your encouragement and kind words. I'm completely blown away by the positive response and feedback the videos have been getting and I'm always trying to make the best videos possible. And the best thing is that I end up learning a lot of new things myself in the research, and uncovering a lot of things about the series I never knew. It's been so gratifying from all aspects.
IMO, I don't think anything like that would ever "just happen". If it did, it'd probably be forced in a lab, and still have less-than-desirable results. Every form in the Xenomorph life cycle is related, and they all know this relation, by instinct if nothing else. They're all geared to seek out something "different", something "not their kind". The best way this might be possible is when Dark Horse created the Red Xenomorphs, and there was a yellow variant in one of the video games. These two variant species were seen as "different" by the original strain, and they warred against each other on a genocidal level. In that, you might get a facehugger to facerape a xenomorph. Next, would be considering the facehugger impregnation process VS xenomorph physiology.
A Facehugger cannot impregnate another Xenomorph. Though I guess with *SCIENCE* you could surgically place an embryo inside a Xenomorph, however I think that it'll just end up disolving. Of if we use Nazi / Comic Book Super Science: It'll grow into an adult Xenomorph inside the other Xenomorph so it only bursts out anothre head so it becomes a two-headed Xenomorph kinda like Ash in Army of Darkness!
It would have a hard time getting it's tube down the aliens throat, and I don't doubt the xenomorph would kill it before it got the chance. If it was successful, the embryo would probably die inside the alien.
alien:resurrection the videogame for ps1 had portable auto doc units that removed embryos if you got facehugged those would be super advanced versions of the autodoc shown in prometheus
very very carefully. the burster inside can mature in at any moment. it's placenta pulls nutrients from the host so any interruption would cause it spas out and begin emergence. I assume they place the host under heavy anesthetic that can also bypass the bursters poison filter in its placenta (which is possible.) once the organism has been properly sedated, the next step is to open the chest cavity which is also dangerous as going through the ribcage can be aggressive on a surgical level and may wake the embryo. once opened, it's a matter of locating the ports of the placenta and snipping them away. (at this point, lets say its removal to save the host and not collect it as a specimen cuz there would be sustainment measures in doing so.) if they have managed to free the organism from the host, it would be removed and destroyed. the rest of the placneta is cleaned out from the body and is simply a matter of sewing them back up. the process is very delicate and extremely dangerous due to the hightened sensetivity of the organism and it will activate agressively if it feels like its life is threatened.
You bring up an excellent question at the end there. Would someone really be able to act quickly enough to remove the Chestburster knowing they had it within them? The poor guy from Resurrection almost made it, but died moments from being allowed into stasis. Ripley at the end of 3 died on the way towards the lava. It posses another interesting question: can the Chestburster sense either it's impending death or the like from the hosts responses to situations around them, causing them to either lay dormant longer or birth more quickly?
Not a totally in universe reply, but in the AvP games it was said that the Chestburster had a highly advanced survival instinct as it was very vulnerable in that state. It therefore favors dark hiding places and seeks them out aggressively when organisms too large to be a food source come around. I'd assume that the same instinct still exists inside the host and might cause a nearly developed chestburster to escape early if there were specific signals that the nervous system puts out when a host is in a state that could endanger the CB's life. Big difference between falling in lava and being prepped for a long nap though.
in aliens colonial marines it's stated that even if you removed the chestburster, it would still result in the death of the host thanks to the embryo's cancerous nature
Matthew Caughey Not necessarily. In AVP, the main female protagonist shot one of the science officers in the head when a Chestburster was preparing to exit. Once she turned and left, the Chestburster broke free and immediately was killed by the Predator. Seems the hosts death does not guarantee the creatures demise.
Genesis it depends entirely on how far in the growth process it is, that thing was fully grown, she shot him the head so he wouldn't have to suffer the chestburster
I reckon that it could be possible that the chestburster could have an awareness of its hosts environment or what its host is doing. For example if the host is relatively still it could be assumed that the host is cocooned in a hive near the queen and other aliens and can birth safely and expediently. If the host is moving around then the host could be in a situation dangerous to the infant alien and could delay its birth until either A: other aliens return the host to the hive or B: birthing becomes necessary as given its eventually going to outgrow the host
I LOVE this video! This was very well thought out, and I would DEFINITELY love to watch a video on the embryonic removal process, and the likelihood such a procedure being successful, in that the carrier is ultimately unharmed.
Your channel is the most comprehensive explanation of the Alien Universe since Mike Lynch did the now shut down Anchorpoint Essays. If you two had gotten together way back then, I am sure someone would be offering you a job. Keep up the great work!
@@AlienTheory Nice theories, I am always interested in hearing different takes on why/how Xenomorphs came about, the relationships they have with each other and their other forms. One of my own theories is the facehugger does not implant an embryo but rather implants their own heart and the environmental conditions of the new creature is what makes the facehugger heart start to grow into the Chestburster, which makes sense as to why the facehugger dies afterwards, humans can't live for more than a few seconds without their heart, and it takes only a matter of seconds for the facehugger to crawl/fall away and then die
There was an item on Alien Ressurection PS1 game that removed the chestbuster. It would be awesome if you make a video about those vat grown pseudo-boddies from the comics made to host xenomorphs Embryos. I'm loving your channel, I just wish for longer videos.
shaw in prometheus was able to remove the alien through c-section. but that wasn't a xenomorph she removed. maybe it would work. either way what a fascinating creature, Giger was a genius. great job, always look forward to your videos.
Sauron Merciful true but what if you let the face hugger come off the host so as not to kill the host, then remove the chestbuster by c-section before it breaches the chest?
There's been some examples of Xenomorph Embryo Removal in Expanded and " _canon_ " universe. In AvP3 ( _2010_ ), they Freeze a character down stating they'll do surgery on her later to remove it. While in Alien Resurrection ( _movie_ ), that's how they acquire a Xenomorph Queen, while in the game ( _PS1_ ) you pick up these Auto-Doc units that can scan you if a Facehugger jumped on you, and when it locates an Embryo inside it'll irradiate it.
In Alien Resurrection, because they were genetically engineering things, the embryo inside was more in a symbiotic relationship with Ripley rather than a hostile one. Also, she herself had acid blood and would have been immune to spills. I suspect in the usual type of infestation, things would be trickier.
Jose Angel Hernandez the facehugger in Shaw was in her womb which was why it was easy to remove basically a pregnancy but a chest buster nestling near your heart would be a pain in the ass
Brother u do a top shelf job of this. Don't stop! We appreciate the work and research u put in to this channel and I am truly grateful for ur dedication to it
Suggestion: you should state at the start or in your summary text the factual basis for your hypotheses (e.g. trailers so far, completed films, directors' cuts, deleted scenes, extended universe). Newcomers probably haven't encountered the EU, and the four films plus one and a half prequels constitute all their knowledge. Thus far what we know from film canon includes: 1) Removal of the facehugger before embryo implantation is EXTREMELY risky. 2) It is at least highly likely and possibly certain to result in the death of the host. We don't know whether "Marachek, John J" could have been saved by a more lavishly equipped surgical team, especially one that was better warned. 3) The fact that they were able to get him to surgery and remove the facehugger non-destructively before embryo implantation proves that there is a lag time between attachment and oviposition. Great vid. Keep up the good work.
as soon as i found this channel i fell in love with it. the alien franchise is my favourite of all films and stories. i would love to see you explore the full abilities of the queen that being her strength and mainly her intelligence comapred to all the other aliens as she does show a high level of self awareness in aliens.
Yes! Please do a bit of research on the removal of the chest burster, the process, and the consequences it would render. There is an image I've seen that there would have to be a trained specialist called a "Class II Xenomedical Technician" (surely you would know more about that than I would) to remove a facehugger. Additionally, I think what had happened to Ripley in Alien:Resurrection could effectively testify to what would happen if a chest burster is surgically removed. P.S. Great channel! I'm glad someone has finally taken the time to really analyze and explain the Alien and Predator universe in depth. I've always wanted to know more but never took the time to read all the comics or play all the games. Keep the videos coming!
Great video! I was surprised when you said the eggs were sentient! Also I was sad when Ripley had to kill herself in number 3. Damn that facehugger who impregnated her.
Does anyone else see the similarities between the Space Jockeys/Engineers Biosuit mask and the facehugger latching on to the face at 2:45? the biosuit itself also resembles the aliens biomechanical torso and such. Could this further imply the theories that the Engineers worship or at least rever the Aliens?
Would love to see you do a video regarding some of the expanded castes such as the Pure Breed class from AvP Extinction or more of the Kenner Toyline such as the Panther & Night Cougar, keep up the awesome work!
Would definitely like to see a video about the possibility of removing a chest burster from the host. Also, love you videos, man. keep up the good work.
I really like the video, background music and commentary. I often watch this in quiet time on my computer, feels like i'm in the universe itself watching a real video log from the movies universe
The life cycle involving Ovomorphs and Facehuggers is extremely complex with multiple points at which the whole process of reproduction could be halted. The Ovomorph could be destroyed, the Facehugger could be killed, the host could be killed before the Chestburster escapes, and the Chestburster itself could be killed before it matured to adulthood. This is a very risky method for a parasite to utilize as access to hosts is the difference between perpetuation of the species and extinction. Real parasites use intermediate hosts in order to bring them into close enough proximity of their primary hosts for a transference to take place. Toxoplasmosis infection in mice make them very sociable to increase the chance of them sauntering up to a cat to be eaten. Snails can ingest contaminated bird feces resulting in parasites taking up residence in their eye stalks. They are then enticed to climb up into the open and be highly visible. Birds then see the prey, key in to the eyestalks (which are darkened and look like worms), and devour them restarting the cycle as the snail either dies or regenerates its dismembered eyes. These for the most part take advantage of natural predation rather than hoping for a suitable host to just stumble onto it. It also occurs in such a way that the population of hosts is maintained even if the host dies in the process of the parasite's life cycle. As an example, what were the Xenomorphs at Hadley's Hope going to do when all the colonists had been either killed or infected? At that point, they either had to get a new supply of hosts while the hive was still alive or leave Ovomorphs and hope that another space faring species stumbled upon the planet. No organism is going to evolve a reproduction cycle that eventually has to rely on another species developing interstellar travel. So while the Xenomorphs are interesting and terrifying creatures, you'll likely never find a reproductive cycle quite like their on this planet or any other.
Cybermat47 The Ichneumon wasp acts in a similar way, although it lays its grub inside a wood wasp grub, which is then eaten alive... yummy. There's a fair few parasitic insects out there that do nasty stuff to each other.
I just subscribed to your channel. I really enjoy listening to your content and your explanations of the alien world. Keep up the good work I look forward to more videos man.
Love these videos brotha! Could you do one comparing the design/behavior of the xeno's in the quadrilogy? (Smooth vs rigid skull; coloring; lone wolf vs hive mentality, etc.)?
4:36 Wrong, the xenomorph gestation period is accelerated or elongated depending on movie pacing requirements.....the xenomorphs were genetically engineered with this in mind by the Engineers.
Paul Church manages to remove a chestbuster from himself in Aliens: Labyrinth. His whole story was truly messed up, even for an Aliens comic. Which is probably why it's my favourite!
I would enjoy a discussion on the possibility of removing the xenomorph embryo before becoming mortally futile and also a topic that may be interesting is the gestation or prolonged length of ripleys queen burster. All your videos by far have been intellectually profound and I am grateful you have taken the time to try and answer some of this universe questions.
Do facehuggers implant embryos in other creatures besides humanoid beings? Or do they only attach themselves to humanoids? I ask this because in the films I have only seen people and Predators infected by them.
great vid, ive always wondered if a chestburster knows if its human host is in danger of being killed it will take less time to free itself, ive noticed in the movies that it seems this way...
I assume the removal of the xenomorph embryo from the chest cavity may be possible, but the embryo may be connected to some major vessels and arteries, which would make the removal either too difficult or impossible for the host to survive. I love your content dude. Keep the good stuff coming!
Loving these videos. Would really like a video on the different androids (sorry, "Synthetic persons") featured in all the films (and games/comics/books if necessary) and their differences in design and function.
I have a theory/question If a human (or anything really) host dies does the embryo within die as well? Secondly: What generates the alien structures? Drones? And what is the process?
Love your videos! Hope to see a theory/explanation on all of the different "Bishop" characters. (Karl, Michael, Charles, etc) Video Games, Movies, and Comics.
Been really enjoying your content man. Keep it up! Has the expanded universe ever touched on a Facehugger impregnating a Xenomorph? Perhaps maybe a Red Xenomorph Facehugger attaching to a regular Xenomorph? I figured you'd be the guy to ask! Thanks!
Two questions I've had for a long time regarding the facehugger : 1) How does the proboscis get past everyone's teeth without busting them out ? 2) How did the Kane facehugger punch or melt (?) through his helmet ?
The facehugger’s tail is as strong as a boa constrictor, so it can choke a host long enough to insert its proboscis without damaging the teeth. For the second question, it is possible that the facehugger sprayed a bit of molecular acid that would be damaging enough to go through the helmet.
@01:12 & @05:01 "The Ovimorph transfers its remaining bio-electrical potential to the face-hugger, essentially breaking the symbiotic relationship and resulting in the death of the egg, so that the full potential of the face-hugger can be realized". The same sequence seems to apply to the relationship to the face-hugger and the Xeno-embryo.
Perhaps you can touch on the Alan Dean Foster novelizations, especially the details he added to the story. Oddly enough, his book, ALIEN, makes no mention of the dead pilot that Dallas, Lambert and Cain discover aboard the derelict Engineer vessel in the movie but his second book, ALIENS, does.
what about the different skulls in the predator ship in predator 2? There's a xenomorph one there & some other strange ones what species do they belong to?
In the colonial Marines video game it says if you remove the embryo from the chest without retrieving all of the alien particles, any remaining will turn into a very vicious form of cancer, killing the host within minutes.
A xenomorph eats whatever the hell it wants. Seriously though, in the novelization of Alien there is a scene where Dallas and co. track the alien to a food storage locker and find that it had eaten most of the food. In AvP: Requiem, an alien at an indoor pool is eating a dead victim, right before getting ganked by the predator. Also in the Alien novelization, Ash theorizes that the alien can "eat" by breathing. That it can break down gases in the atmosphere to create whatever nutrients it needs.
@@BulletTooth504 yea its like it can filter the positive stuff in the area around it and its able to get it as kind of food, i think we can kinda compare it to getting the CO2 out of the air by breathing
Surprisingly Batman Vs Alien did come up with a way to save the hosts. The doctors performed a cardio vascular operation, no different than that of regular open heart surgery and removed it while it was still gestating.
Is it weird I find the facehuggers scarier then the xeno
I bet you'll scream like Newt
It's probably because they look like spiders with digits
@@alpachino468 they will return in 2027
Me too!! I sleep with my arm covering my mouth....
I think the majority of people find them more unsettling than the adult xenomorphs.

how long can a facehugger survive in isolation from other living organismes ???
Acedia DeKay 70hours
Is there anything like this life cycle in reality?
yes, but until now it just between insect, mother insect implant her eggs inside other insect alive then when it hatch eat the host from inside ALIVE
Absolutely. There are certain types of wasps which reproduce like this.
Certainly could agree with that.
Cybermat47 The Ichneumon wasp acts in a similar way, although it lays its grub inside a wood wasp grub, which is then eaten alive... yummy. There's a fair few parasitic insects out there that do nasty stuff to each other.
You do a great job on these videos man. Kudos.
Man I just love your content and so much effort putted into it. Keep it comin!
I just subscribed to your channel. I really enjoy listening to your content and your explanations of the alien world. Keep up the good work I look forward to more videos man.
Your Theory is TOP NOTCH ! Thanks for the wonderful information & vid.
BEST MOST COMPREHENSIVE VIDEO ON THIS
Brilliant. I would love to see a video on that last theory. Thanks.
Love these videos brotha! Could you do one comparing the design/behavior of the xeno's in the quadrilogy? (Smooth vs rigid skull; coloring; lone wolf vs hive mentality, etc.)?
Excellent presentation. Fascinating beyond measure. Thanks!
Thank you for such awesome content. I was wondering if you can cover the Mantis Alien.
Would definitely love to see a theory on someone possibly removing or eliminating an embryonic chestburster.
Sounds like a legit video about trying to remove a chestburster from yourself
*talk about hardcore oral.*
Takes deep throating to a new level lol 😂😉😎
2:00 in Alien Romulous the facehugger gets the job done in seconds and the chestburster is also done in minutes
I love these and can't wait to see what's next.Keep it up!!!!!!
Keep up the good work man!
Great channel! Looking forward to the next video
i've always wondered if someone could survive a facehugger so would love to see a video on that :D
4:00 the problem with that is that (if I recall correctly) Aliens are SILICON based lifeforms, not Carbon.
Do facehuggers implant embryos in other creatures besides humanoid beings? Or do they only attach themselves to humanoids? I ask this because in the films I have only seen people and Predators infected by them.
Keep up the outstanding work!
I can't stop watching your videos. You're like a stupendous wave (a guy who makes videos like these but of star wars) of aliens, haha
great vid, ive always wondered if a chestburster knows if its human host is in danger of being killed it will take less time to free itself, ive noticed in the movies that it seems this way...
your awesome dude, i really enjoy your breakdowns..... brilliant
I have a theory/question
If a human (or anything really) host dies does the embryo within die as well?
Secondly: What generates the alien structures? Drones? And what is the process?
Your videos are awesome!! Could you maybe do one on how a chestbuster grows into a warrior or drone so fast after it burst out its host? :)
great videos mate
Love your videos! Hope to see a theory/explanation on all of the different "Bishop" characters. (Karl, Michael, Charles, etc) Video Games, Movies, and Comics.
Been really enjoying your content man. Keep it up! Has the expanded universe ever touched on a Facehugger impregnating a Xenomorph? Perhaps maybe a Red Xenomorph Facehugger attaching to a regular Xenomorph? I figured you'd be the guy to ask! Thanks!
Yes we need a video on removing a chestburster, as there is heavy debate on whether you will survive or not.
what are the facehungers with the thorns/needles spreading off the back? at 5:00 are those defence mechanisms?
Two questions I've had for a long time regarding the facehugger : 1) How does the proboscis get past everyone's teeth without busting them out ? 2) How did the Kane facehugger punch or melt (?) through his helmet ?
The facehugger’s tail is as strong as a boa constrictor, so it can choke a host long enough to insert its proboscis without damaging the teeth. For the second question, it is possible that the facehugger sprayed a bit of molecular acid that would be damaging enough to go through the helmet.
@@floridianliau35 - Fair , thanks .
@01:12 & @05:01
"The Ovimorph transfers its remaining bio-electrical potential to the face-hugger,
essentially breaking the symbiotic relationship and resulting in the death of the egg,
so that the full potential of the face-hugger can be realized".
The same sequence seems to apply to the relationship
to the face-hugger and the Xeno-embryo.
Yes, I think it would be cool to have a video about anyone that maybe survived removing the embryo.
Very thorough video. I enjoyed it.
Absolutely would like to see a video on theories of how to remove chest burster before birth.
Excellent Video, Thank You!
yes a video would great to see, any chance that there is any connection between alien and outland with Sean Connery?
Perhaps you can touch on the Alan Dean Foster novelizations, especially the details he added to the story.
Oddly enough, his book, ALIEN, makes no mention of the dead pilot that Dallas, Lambert and Cain discover aboard the derelict Engineer vessel in the movie but his second book, ALIENS, does.
That theory would be awsome to hear!
your subscriber is going up fast!!
I would love a video theorizing surgical removal of the chest burster.
what about the different skulls in the predator ship in predator 2?
There's a xenomorph one there & some other strange ones
what species do they belong to?
They represent red shirts of various species who were dumb enough to join the Federation Of United Planets.
I wonder if anyone's ever tried simply keeping their mouth closed when Xeno *FACERAPE* is happening?
I would love to see a theory on the removal of said alien. Love this channel.
In the colonial Marines video game it says if you remove the embryo from the chest without retrieving all of the alien particles, any remaining will turn into a very vicious form of cancer, killing the host within minutes.
Wow, never knew there was such a scientific explanation for this
I'd be interested in a video on if xenomorphs actually eat, and if so, what?
A xenomorph eats whatever the hell it wants.
Seriously though, in the novelization of Alien there is a scene where Dallas and co. track the alien to a food storage locker and find that it had eaten most of the food. In AvP: Requiem, an alien at an indoor pool is eating a dead victim, right before getting ganked by the predator.
Also in the Alien novelization, Ash theorizes that the alien can "eat" by breathing. That it can break down gases in the atmosphere to create whatever nutrients it needs.
@@BulletTooth504 yea its like it can filter the positive stuff in the area around it and its able to get it as kind of food, i think we can kinda compare it to getting the CO2 out of the air by breathing
i really do enjoy your vids. savage breakdowns XD
Surprisingly Batman Vs Alien did come up with a way to save the hosts. The doctors performed a cardio vascular operation, no different than that of regular open heart surgery and removed it while it was still gestating.
