  • So here is a shorter edited version of my run down to the Scottish Borders.
    Includes all the commentary sections.
This video was filmed using my Go Pro Hero 8 with a foam cover to help muffle wind noise. Audio is from the built in microphone.
At the end of the video is a section filmed from my Drift Ghost XL so you can compare video and sound quality. The Drift has an external microphone fitted into my helmet with a furry wind shield cover on.
I wasn't able to charge the cameras at my sisters house, they were heading out, so in terms of battery life on a single charge the GoPro died about 15 minutes into the run back home. The Drift filmed the entire ride and still had plenty of battery life left. Drift batteries are amazing !

Great wee run Simon. The Gopro picture was much sharper from my viewing perspective (TV). Good to see you giving the bikes legs a wee stretch. All the best, Sean.

Thanks very much, yes the GoPro image quality is certainly better, just wish they could marry that with the Drift battery life. Best wishes, Simon

@Scottish Zoomer yes the battery life isn't great. One solution I use is an external power bank, not ideal, but it works, and it easily fits in an inside pocket

@@BMCMOTOUK that’s a good idea, I was thinking of running a cable to the USB charger on the bike, but I’m not sure I want cables flapping about me when riding.

@Scottish Zoomer my powerbank fits nicely in my inside pocket and gives me enough power to film for hours

Hi, really enjoy you videos. I’ve just got my A1 license and looking for my first 125 scooter. I’m in my 50s , am 5.11 & 230lb. You say you have owned an NMAX previously, and now have the SR GT. Which do you prefer? Which would you recommend as a first bike? Think I’m liking the larger dimensions of the Aprilia & higher HP. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks. Matt.

Hi Matt, thanks for watching the videos, glad you enjoy them. It’s a while since I owned the Nmax and I didn’t have it for long, but my main memory of it was it’s dislike of windy conditions, it could be quite a handful on a blowy day. I can’t fault the Aprilia, it’s powerful for a 125, stable, handles beautifully and I’ve had no mechanical issues in the 18 months I’ve had it. It probably suits a taller rider, I’m 6’2”, but you should be fine. Hope this helps you make your decision, any other questions just drop me a line. All the best, Simon

Hi Simon, thanks for getting back to me. I sure do like the look of the SR GT, lucky I have an Aprilia dealer close by me. Would you say the build quality matches the Yamaha? How do you find the SR GT on longer rides? I’m gonna look at one at the weekend and give it a ride. Will let you know how I find it. Thanks again, and safe travels.. 😎

Great video, I really like the look of this bike I think it’s one of the top dogs in the 125 category, I’ve seen a few people with those bubble mirrors on the windscreen, what’s the main function of them can I ask?

Hi, glad you’re enjoying the videos. It’s a great bike, the performance and build quality have been top notch so far. I find the windscreen mirror useful when dealing with cyclists who can appear silently along side you, it covers potential blind spots that normal mirrors have. They don’t cost much and add that extra bit of visibility.

@@scottishzoomer that makes sense, I did wonder about it as the go pro footage tends to make it seem more like a vanity mirror you’d find in a car sun visor but I can imagine it’s very helpful like you say with cyclists 👍🏻

Ive had mine for 11 months and it’s superb . It’s quick of the mark and will hold 70 on the dual carriageway. I lowered the suspension to lowest setting because I’m a short guy. it’s absolutely amazing tho

Hi, had mine almost a year now and so far it’s been fantastic. A lovely bike to ride, and no issues of any kind to cause me any worry. It’s used all year round and always reliable. I’d happily recommend it
