- Hello, I’m Caroline, I live in the Isle of Skye and welcome to Vlogmas day 17.
Today I cosy up at home for a day or doing all the things I enjoy. Knitting, playing my fiddle, baking some cinnamon buns and getting experimental with the filling and doing some Gaelic lessons.
Here is how I made the cinnamon buns:
Dough
3/4 cup warm milk
2 1/2 tsp yeast
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 egg yolk
1/4 cup melted butter
3 cups bread flour
1/2 tsp salt
Filling
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon
1/4 butter, softened
1/4 cup pistachios
1/4 cup cranberries
Frosting
4oz cream cheese, room temp
3 tablespoons butter, soft
3/4 cup icing sugar
1/2tsp vanilla
Method:
Warm milk to bath water temp, put in bowl and sprinkle in yeast. Add in sugar, egg and butter. Mix until combined then story in flour and salt until dough forms.
Knead dough for 8-10mins
Put dough in oiled bowl and cover with cling film and tea towel that has been wet with warm water. Leave for 1.5hr
Once dough has doubled in size, roll out in well floured surface to 14x9 rectangle
Spread butter in dough then sprinkle over cinnamon, sugar and chopped pistachios and cranberries.
Tightly roll dough up and cut into 1 inch pieces.
Place rolls in greased pan.
Cover with plastic wrap and leave for another 45 mins. Meanwhile preheat the oven to 180c.
Bake for 20-25 mins until golden brown.
Frost after 5 mins.

Thanks for watching!
From Ireland here and learned Irish (Gaeilge) from age 4 til 18. I love hearing Gaelic and knowing exactly what is being said! Such lovely languages
Sitting here trying to work while watching this and all i want to do now is get some cinnamon rolls going, break out the embroidery, and get something cozy going on the tv.
Ahahah the temptation is real!!
Adding pistachios to cinnamon rolls sounds sooo good! I make them every year for Christmas and just might try this variety!
I always like to run a tiny bit of water along the edge of the dough as I finish rolling it - it helps it stick better and prevents the rolls from getting ‘undone’ at the ends once you’ve cut them. Although they taste great all the same!
This was the reminder to slow down that we all need
Your cinnamon rolls are lovely! These vlogs have been such a joy this December.
So happy you’re liking them 🥰
Watching you play made me go and pick up the flute I've not played in quite probably years - got a little Christmas music going, thanks for the prompt to just do things for the joy of it 🥲🫶🏼
That’s the best thing to hear ever 😭😭❤️❤️
Hi Caroline, I love listening to your blogs as I am a totally blind person. You have such a lovely voice. XXX
That’s really lovely to know! 🥰
I've been watching all vlogmas (must catching up today) and it's honestly made my December so cosy! Love that you're also listening to Zoe and Alfie!
That’s so so lovely to hear! Glad you’re enjoying 🥰
Sprucing up is so satisfying 😊🎉 Lovely cinnamon rolls as well 😊❤ such a cosy vlog, thank you ❤
Glad you liked it 🥰
I actually looooove hearing the sound of the wind outside! So ultimately cozy!
Aw glad to hear that! There was plenty of it haha!
I've never seen an egg separator like that before, how cool :)
I just about jumped for joy when you mentioned buying circular needles! A hat on straight needles sounds like my nightmare. I hope you enjoy your knitting journey!!
😂😂 I think cause I learned this way it just doesn’t seem that bad, but I guess I’ll see the difference when I try the circulars!
Loved watching you making the cinnamon rolls and can't get enough of your Fur baby! I totally understand as I have to walk my Mini Aussie 2x day no matter what the weather!! Some nights are very tough to get out there but being a sheep dog he needs his exercise. 🐕🦺
Their happy little faces always make is so worth it though!!
I’m really enjoying the vlogs this Christmas (and in general), thank you so much for taking the time to share your wee adventures around the island as well as your crafts and cooking with us ✨
My absolute pleasure! Thanks for watching 🥰
I just ordered a set of silicone soup freezer cubes! What a great idea that I didn't know existed. I loved your cozy hobby day. You pack so much into a day! Honestly, I would have never made it past the knitting! :D
They’re such a fab way to store soup!! So happy to have brought them into your life ahaha
Another fab vlog. Love the sound of the wind.
Glad you enjoyed 🥰
casting on a new knitting project is always so nice and exciting! I'm in the middle of finishing all my Christmas knitting projects and I'm just so ready to start something for myself in the new year:)
I also definitely recommend circular needles, they're so much nicer! I'd recommend interchangeable needles (KnitPro have good kits), they're super handy!
Always great to see you.
The wind's are familiar living here in 🇨🇦
I’m in knitting school right now and she taught us to go “Under the root, over the tree, down through the hole, you can’t catch me” how cute is that and it really worked for my brain! 🩷
Like a bunny. Lol, forgot that part
Awww ahaha that’s so so cute I love it!!
Reconciliation reel this week, great stuff ! I too have a Collie - she leaves the room every time I play, not a great look when you work as a musician !
Hahah they know how to humble us!
Watching this from Skye!! Been travelling through the Highlands for the past few days. Luckily have had wonderful weather. Just tucked up in bed and am catching up on your vlog. Sorry you're not feeling well. Hope you feel better soon.
Aw yay so happy you’re having a good time!!
I was about to type that you should try circular needles and then you said it! Highly recommend them, I started knitting last December and getting a set of circulars really opened up a whole world of possibilities for me when it comes to knitting and doing something like knitting my first sweater
I think my comments section will rejoice the day I finally try circular needles 😂😂
Nice video as always Caroline, I think it has rained most of the year on Skye this year 😩feels like it has anyway. Take care and stay safe ❤❤
It really does doesn’t it?! Hope you’re keeping cosy!!
Love the apron! Stay as dry & healthy as you can🤗
Thank you!! ❤️
Awhh my sister stays in Conon bridge and it’s been the same with her, you’ll have to hunker down as it’s meant to be windy this weekend! Hey you should sell your hats I’d buy one ❤. Oh gosh that would be so cute knitting 🧶 baby hats 😊. My mum knits hats, leg warmers and scarves for the plastic life size cow at my work, I make the gelato at forest farm organic dairy in Blackburn so cute 🥰. Oh my those cinnamon rolls were impressive 😊. Oh the glimpse of your spice rack heaven ❤. Awhh I have a kenwood mixer my mum bought it for me, it’s over 35 years old quality if them. Thats so weird you saying that about your throat, I thought at the beginning of the vlog you sounded like you were getting a cold, I have had one that has lasted 4 weeks 😢. I really want to learn Italian, really thinking of getting that app I thought you had to pay for it hearing you say it’s free is ace! Your Gaelic is so good! Loved the hobby day fab vlog. Hope you feel okay. ❤
You can get a version that is free, you just need to put up with ads, but that’s a small price to pay for free learning I’d say!! Go live your Italian learning dream I say!!
how funny! i made the ambitious kitchen cinni rolls 2 days ago... so the 17th here in NZ! my god they are yum. Yours turned out so good! x
Aw love it!! Aren’t they so good??
Those cinnamon buns looked yummy! Must try the recipe. It’s been really windy here too in my part of Scotland. Hope you don’t come down with anything nasty! Plenty of rest and fluids. Kisses to Nuala collie from Cookie collie.
They’re were absolutely delish I must say!! Feeling a bit rubbish but hoping it’s passed in time for Christmas!
I love how cozy this video is! I’m new to your videos, I’ve been really enjoying them. Cozy hobbies are such a joy. I was wondering if you knew the name of the piano piece played at 12:39? It sounds so beautiful and wanted to try playing it. I’m learning piano as my cozy hobby.
Caroline, your videos are just so gorgeous! I've just started watching your UA-cam channel after following along on your tiktoks and Instagram for a while and I just love how you show your lovely home! Do you have any basic hints and tips for someone wanting to document their home in the new forest? I've no proper media/photography training like yourself and feel like I just won't do it justice! x
A lot of our early training was recreating images we liked, so I’d maybe do that with reels. Even if it’s just for you to practice on, look at other people’s reels you like and apply it to your home and try recreate it. If you love it so much you want to post just remember to credit the original creator as your inspiration, but even as just a fun exercise for yourself, look what what you like and try apply it to your own home. One you have those kind skills down you’ll probably have more creative energy to focus on coming up with original ideas which is more likely going to help you stand out ☺️ oh and get a good tripod haha!
Thank you for the recipe. Going to try it this weekend. I hope you are not getting ill. Take care and get rest. When you get a chance would you mind sharing your knitting you tube channel that you follow?
The one I was watching in this video was Sheep and Stitch!
Thank you!@@carolinemcquistin
Could you make a video about youre Scottish gaielc journey?😊
I think the cast on your doing looks complicated is it the continental way , i use two needles probably old fashioned way 😂 I’ve just done garter stitch scarf as I hate pearl stich 😂
Aloha vlogmas day 17 baking is my favorite
Hope you feel ok for Christmas🥰
Hoping it’s a case of get it out of my system before Christmas is here!
Love your videos as always and this looked like such a nice cozy day - thanks for sharing! Since it sounds like you were watching UA-cam while knitting, do you have any recommendations for channels with similar content to yours? Or channels you think your audience would particularly enjoy?
Cozy K, Jen Harris, Jess Harris, Niamh Mackinnon, Jodie Melissa Rogers ☺️
14:49 I'm dead ahahahahhahah 🤣I'm dog ownership too

Hi! I'm a new subscriber here, love all your vlogmas videos so far! 😊 Curious about the violin, did you learn to play it as a kid or did you start learning as an adult? 😊
I played into my teens but then didn’t play for about 7 or 8 years!
The cinnamon rolls look so yummy. Can u please share the recipe?
It’s in the caption!
@carolinemcquistin thank you. Awesome.
Oh please where did you get the soup portion thing?!
Love your jacket! Do you have a link? Would love to buy it!❤
I believe it’s in the caption of the video! ☺️
Rain in winter is my least favourite weather, as it’s just not right 😅 don’t mind rain, but just not in winter…
I've read Darling Girls! It's really good! Sad at the end though!
Oh I’ll brace myself!
