LEMMY FOREVER ASHES CEREMONY AT WACKEN

- ON AUGUST 2nd, 2023, a giant tribute to Ian ‘Lemmy’ Kilmister took place, featuring a parade, communal toasts, and the enshrinement of his ashes at Lemmy’s Bar in the village of Wacken.
Despite wretched weather conditions, nothing could derail the thunderous celebrations, which saw Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee participate in an afternoon parade featuring several giant floats carrying hundreds of loud and raucous Motörhead fans. The proceedings started at the festival site and headed through the town of Wacken to Lemmy’s Bar, where hoards of fans were waiting for the enshrinement ceremony, which saw Phil and Mikkey place Lemmy’s ashes in a specially-prepared glass display unit next to personal items including his hat, boots, bass guitar, and Marshall stack. Fans were also treated to a re-enacted version of Lemmy’s Dressing Room, which contained all his favorite things such as books, newspapers, whiskey, of course, and even his beloved Kinder Eggs with a toy, and the building itself was adorned with various Motörhead-themed murals, including one of Lemmy himself.
Later, at night onstage, headlining rocker Doro (an old friend of Lemmy’s) was joined on stage by Phil and Mikkey for “Love Me Forever” and “Ace Of Spades,” which saw the crowd go crazy and underscore the enormous presence Lemmy carries as an immortal man of the people. Throughout the day (and doubtless into the remaining days of the festival), toasts were raised in Lemmy’s name.
“Lemmy loved playing Wacken; there was a long relationship as we played for the first time in 1997 and returned many, many times,” said Mikkey Dee. “It is quite natural that he is returning now and has another place forever.”
“It’s great that Lemmy will be at Wacken forever among such good friends,” said Phil Campbell. “And I’m glad there’s another home where people can raise a toast to him.”
The Lemmy Forever at Wacken celebration was part of a wider movement that started at last year’s Hellfest, and sees Lemmy enshrined and celebrated at select spots around the world, which he loved while giving fans a place to gather, remember, and honor him.
I thank you all that were present for this ceremony. I hope it will continue to draw more fans every year. I mean more people will be coming every time just like in Graceland.
Please I thank you all from my heart and with all my request (Both the organizers and all fans of Lemmy and Motorhead.). I love that.
Touching song on the background...😢 Rest in Peace, King Lemmy! ❤♾️🤟🏻🎸🇮🇹
Steel heart crying... I miss you lemmy and motorhead also...❤❤❤
I still find it hard to believe that Lemmy is no longer with us. A man and a band unrepeatable...and immortal for us. Motörhead forever.

I opened for the Misfits at the key club in Hollyweird back in the day. I was so excited and nervous I drove out a day early to acclimate to LA from Arizona and decided to take a walk down sunset. I popped in at the Rainbow on a Thursday night, a slow night, and saw Lemmy sitting at a video poker machine (or whatever he was playing) I asked the bartender through a mixture of hand gestures and lip syncing “is that Lemmy?” She nodded yes. I leaned in and asked her if she thought he would mind if I said hi and she said “not without this” handing me what looked like a rocks glass full of bourbon. I nervously asked if I could buy him a drink and he nodded without even taking his eyes off the screen. I thought the man couldn’t be bothered to leave his machine and I stood there awkwardly for a few seconds. He grabbed a cigarette from the pack on the bar and lit it as he asked me if I was “alright “ and thank god I speak a little of the Queen’s English. He genuinely asked me how I was doing. I introduced myself and told him I was in town to play a show and he knew all about the show. So instead of fan boying out on him we talked musical influences and I picked his brain for an hour about how to deal with stage fright. He told me stories from the road and after a while I didn’t want to over stay my welcome. So I shook his hand and thanked him for EVERYTHING he has done for rock and roll and I walked back into the streets never to see him again. I was so intimidated but he was so sweet. He was the nicest person ever and I cried to hear he passed. It made me sad that I will never again cross paths with my hero again. But I’ll always have that memory and I look forward to seeing all the memorials in his name. I will leave a tear at each place for him 😢
🤘
That's an awesome story dude... A mate of mine, who's probably the biggest Motorhead fan I know, was over in L.A for a couple of weeks in 2015. On his last night in the city, he plucked up the courage and went to the Rainbow, specifically hoping to meet his hero. When he got there the barman told him he'd just missed Lemmy by about ten minutes. It was only a few months later that he died.
i dont care
@@bluesrocker91 bummer. I had no preconceived notion of what to expect, I just knew the place was historic and I wanted to feel the ghosts of rockers past but I got an even greater experience. I have been let down by people I considered rock gods but this was not one. Sorry your friend missed out. Lemmy was an amazing person and rock will never be the same without him
nice story bro. but very made up^^
these days many ppl claim to have met lemmy. i actually beleive none of those stories. if one of those stories are true, good for you! If not, why bother us with that? and in any case... why bother others with that? ppl bragging, ppl lying. ppl=shit
Good watch ty.
Music reverberates thru the universe forever . He's around

He would be happy to see this display of love for him and his music .May it live on !!!
I walked into a convenience store wearing one of my Motorhead shirts. The clerk looked at my shirt, smiled, and asked, "If Lemmy and God got in a fight, who would win". I replied "Lemmy IS God". The clerk replied "Correct".
oh my gosh!!! Lemmy Liked Kinder Surprise Egg.
We are Motorhead and we play rock n roll! So happy to see Mikkey Dee and Phil together❤️
But that GN'R shirt came from Walmart though :/
@@matthewmagda4971 he toured with The Bastards sons and GNR. You can't see the tag from Walmart.maybe was an old tshirt or was a gift. The important thing is that he was there with Mikkey Dee honouring Lemmy and Motorhead.

Very fitting tribute to God himself!

Lemmy is one of my greatest influences in music. First time hearing Motörhead was from the classic ace of spades when I was a kid and I’ve been a fan ever since. Especially since the first Motörhead album I own was ace of spades. r.i.p lemmy

Lemmy forever!!
So beautiful to see. Thanks for sharing. 🤘♠️
What is left that needs to be said? All of those Hawkwind passengers who patronised Motörhead as well, and the younger ones who glommed onto Motörhead first--they've all said what needs to be said. We are in the monument phase now.
Motörhead for LIFE ! Lemmy always has been and always will be the Man ! RIP Lemmy !!!!
Awesome .....no more words here......................long live
Motörhead best trio Rock'n'roll Band whole world! Hail Lemmy! Hats Off!
Gone but NEVER EVER forgotten
1:34 jeeehaw! I'm in this with Heavynger and Luc.♠️♠️♠️

From Hawkwind to hell, never forget ya!!
♠🍀♥ Since Lemmy died I started playing and singing his songs and I'm still doing this every day. After years of research I've built three replicas of "Murder One", "Marsha" and "Killer", it was a long way but now I'm so happy and can't stop playing. If you're interested in Lemmy's bass sound and playing style, check out what I've been up to since the great man left us. We should keep his legacy alive and it's so much fun playing his music as loud as possible. I love Lemmy and I'm so grateful for his sound, his songs and everything else he has done for all of us.I can tell you as a musician, that it's so much fun to get into his music deeper and deeper and for me it's like medicine to hear and to feel this sound and to sing out his lyrics loud. We know that we all have to leave someday, but in Lemmy's case his music will remain as long as we play and feel it. Lemmy always said "don't forget us, we play Rock'n'Roll" and that's what I do every day, no matter what they say. Greetings from Speyer and keep on rocking, don't stop the Lemmy Rock'n'Roll !!! 🎛🎸😲
