Thanks for the video. You have a great collection! Green Dreams is having a sale this weekend; I caved and bought a Campo de Ramón I've been eyeing. It's said to have a taste of maraschino cherry. Slow-growing but fun plant to grow here.
I have a question for you about germinating Fresh Loquat seeds. I just received some fresh loquat seeds in moist sphagnum moss. Should I leave them in that to germinate, or should I plant them out now in their own individual pots with a high quality germination mix?
You can germinate them either way. I actually like putting them into individual containers. They just ship them to you in the sphagnum moss to keep them from drying out during shipping.
Red Hybrid can fruit in 3 to 4 years, so depending on how old yours was when they shipped it, it could be fruit soon. Make sure and check the soil pH and keep it between 5.5 to 6.5.
All Jaboticaba trees want a soil pH of 5.5 to 6.5 to grow and thrive. I grow Sabara Jaboticaba rootstocks, because of all the Jaboticaba trees Sabara tolerant more alkaline soils better than others.

Thanks, I'll have to check out their sale.

Fantastic, I think I purchased the Red from Flying Fox fruits. Gotta get the other ones you mentioned next.

Which one bears fruit the quickest if planted by seeds? Are they easy to graft?
The Scarlet and the Red Hybrid Jaboticaba trees grow the fastest from seeds. Approximately 3 to 4 years seed to fruit.
Are they self pollinating?
Yes they are self pollinating.
Thanks again Mel, but it was the seeds of the Red hybrid jabo i bought. Would i still need to plant them out in a slightly acidic substrate??
