For the first time since Ace Combat 3D: Cross Rumble OG & Plus (2011/2015), Bandai Namco's Project Aces returns to a Nintendo platform with Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown for Switch. It's also the first time a mainline entry came to said platform, whereas the 3DS Cross Rumble was a remake of Ace Combat 2. Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces, also co-developed by Project Aces and Access Games, doesn't count by virtue of being a licensed tie-in prequel to the animated film based on Hiroshi Mori’s novel of the same name.
