It's not that they "suck," it's just that they're mediocre. In the comics it's implied Steven is genuinely talented and is kind of carrying the whole thing. Kim plays drums well enough, and Scott's not really invested (for obvious reasons).
There are times where you go see a film and the opening credits scene, song or credits just capture you. They raise the heart rate and make the hairs stand up and you know you made the correct choice. This is one of those films.
To me this scene is an illustration of how every rock fan comes into being. One song, heard for the first time, hits them smack in the face and WHAM, a rock and roll fan is born.
The film gets the attention and appreciation it deserves now, but I wish it was more successful at the box office, because films like these deserve our money.
0:39 Every fucking time. Knives asks Kim if she plays the drums and when we cut back to Kim saying "Yes." we see the card confirming that she is...indeed a drummer. It's details like that are the main reasons why this movie is awesome and hilarious.
This whole opening and the accompanying credits sequence is so perfect. The first time I saw it, I knew I would be watching this movie until the day I die.
I love how the credits protray each character's trait or purpose in the film. I didn't pick it up till the 2nd time I saw the film and it made me feel so awed by the little details they had put in.
i have shown this movie to many people all saying "ugh i dont want to watch it" before we do and the opening credits come on...right after they say "i think i was wrong"
This has to be one of the most memorable cinema movie moments for me ever, massive fan of the manga, first day opening me and my mate got the back seat row with this epic opening blasting into our faces
i love this movie, the opening hooked me in right away. and i love the little animations that go with the character. like chris evans' skateboard, kieran culkins cell phone bars, anna kendricks coffe stains, ect.
If you notice when the names of the cast are shown, the drawings in the background display little motifs related to the characters they play in the movie: MICHAEL CERA= Bass Strings MARY ELIZABETH WINESTEAD= Three different shades of hair, denoting how many times her character changes hair color KIERAN CULKIN= A cell phone status bar (Wallace can text while sleeping)
You mentioned the intro animation, but it’s actually even cooler because as it lists the names of the actors, it shows what their characters are known for in the film, it starts with Chris Evans and his skate company logo and drawn skateboards, Brie gets a heart breaking in half animation, allison pill gets the 1234 countdown, and aubrey plaza gets the black bleeping out bar around her name etc..
CHRIS EVANS= Skateboards (Lucas Lee was a skateboarder before becoming an actor) and the logo for his character's skateboard company SPOILER: ANNA KENDRICK= Coffee stains and wet mug marks (Stacey Pilgrim works at a coffee shop) BRIE LARSON= Broken hearts denoting her role as a femme fatale ALISON PILL= The words "one! two! three! four! (which Kim Pine typically yells to signal the start of a Sex Bob-Omb song) and the Sex-Bob-Omb logo

I love that very subtle gleam on Knives' eyes lmao. I had to re-watch it a couple of times to be sure, since I definitely missed it the first time I watched this.

i have a feeling if this came out about 3 or 4 years later when superhero movies were everywhere this would have done better thanks to its comic book feel/origins.
God that FUZZ! I cannot get enough of the music in this god damn gem of a movie! I wish that it did better in the theaters when it came out because I want more!
The first act of the film is my favourite by far! I like the trippy stuff that follows after but I feel more related with the characters at the beginning....
I feel like that's when the movie loses some steam as they have to cram in the rest of the evil exes giving them very small amounts of screen time. That's part of the reason I feel this should've been two movies as opposed to one, though it still does a good job in the end.
This movie had everything. Comedy, action, characters, story, even romance...AND KICKASS MUSIC!!!
I'm sure every movie has characters and a story. Do you mean it has unique characters and story?
Legions and legends Some movies do a few of these things right or its passable. This film knocked it out of the park on it all.
TheDalinkwent so unique and lovable characters. Got it.
Legions and legends ...tool
TheDalinkwent and video games!
Love how Sex Bob-omb is supposed to suck, but they're actually better than a few real bands. LOL
yea but just a few))))
tbarbdrills Well their songs were written by Beck
Yeah I thought their music was pretty good so I just assumed I had bad taste but I don't get why everyone thinks they suck.
It's not that they "suck," it's just that they're mediocre. In the comics it's implied Steven is genuinely talented and is kind of carrying the whole thing. Kim plays drums well enough, and Scott's not really invested (for obvious reasons).
¿Do Geese See God? Yep. The comics say that they aren’t awesome but they aren’r awful.
If I ever make a movie, I want the opening to be this awesome.
I didn't expect to see you here
I watched this a couple days ago whilst super drunk and man the goosebumps were real.
Then make a movie...

This is the only one ik that does that...
yeah this is really the only movie that does capture my attention with its opening credits or whatever...
combustinghandshakes Watchmen.
Baby driver and hot fuzz do it too. Ok this is a cheat because Edgar directed all 3 movies

thats me but with the bass

here let me get your coat * throws it on floor *
Joey Morrissey omg, I've never noticed that LOL
In the comic he just tells her to toss it on the floor. At least here he's a gentlemen xD
JV same.
hm gentleman...
I just noticed, during the cast role call, the images in the background were hints as to who the actors were playing as.

I made a frame by frame breakdown of all of them in my channel. There’s quite a few and I still don’t think I covered all of them.
SUCH an underrated film.

Yeah they should actually re-release it now, in some kind of limited run
That's actually a really good idea, guys. Wish the studio would do that.
no it isn't ffs
Big Ulf At least it gained a big cult following
I'm gonna start my own band and name it Launchpad McQuack
Samantha Friginal can I join
Samantha Friginal can i join too i can play bass
Samantha Friginal if it ain't too late I play the guitar can I join
But that wouldn't be the actual name of the band, right?
can i join i play kazoo
This will go down as being one of the most iconic openings in film.
One of the dopest opening credits I've ever seen. It all starts at 1:05
Yeah, really cool. It's like a Stan Brakhage piece set to garage rock.
I like the little noises you hear like "hey" "yeh" "cmon" "yah" lol

All these year and I'm still in love with Stephen Stills, he's so scruffy and hot, I love his awkward/shy personality.
He turned gay in the comic
Yeah, I really love Crosby, Stills, and Nash!

Scott’s footwork is unmatched
I love how Scott jumps around while playing
I'm sad they didn't name this song Launch pad McQuack in the Official Soundtrack.
that would have been amazing

the shitty mic and every instrument quality is what makes this amazing
I like how behind the actors names there are images of character traits they each play.
even the opening credits of this movie is amazing
funniest thing is that the future Captain America and the future Atom (past Superman) are in this movie :p
Kiya Lee Levy Runaya Captain America was also the Human torch
