Another great review! I love all of your videos. It looks like HiTEC opted to use the power button as the transmission indicator on the Flash 8 as opposed to the HiTEC logo on the Flash 7. Again I love every video you put up. I've learned nearly everything I needed to know to get up and in the air from your channels alone. No RC experience prior to finding you and I've built myself a 250 quad and even converted a Turnigy 9x to use FrSKY thanks to your video. Keep up the amazing work! I look forward to every new upload =)
I am just getting into RC sailplanes, and was going to buy the Airtronics Aquila 5 ch @ $165, but I saw your review, and thought this TX was a 'plain Jane', until you pointed out the paddles / sliders on each corner, and their uses, e.g. flaps. Well, that and the fact that its only a few more $ than the Airtronics Aquila, really did it for me, and I plan to buy this TX in the coming weeks. Excellent review, and very much appreciated! Thanks
Correction: I'd like to see you evaluate the Graupner MZ-Line (12, 18 & 24 Pro) not the MX. Thanks for all the work you put in on these reviews: most informative and entertaining on the net!
I was hoping you could take a look inside the Flash 8 to see if there's any difference between the Flash 7 build quality. I'd also love to see a review of the Graupner line (MX-18 & MX-24 Pro). Love your reviews: please keep them coming...
Hitec Challenger 4 channel was my first radio eons ago :) Good to see easy to use radios still being made, Taranis took me some time to get to grips with.
Frsky also has a Hitec AFHSS compatible micro receiver with PPM output for about $13 as well as an 8 channel receiver that's basically a Delta 8 without the Frsky and Futaba S-FHSS compatibility. The only difference between these and the standard Frsky receivers is the firmware btw. All three systems are based on the Texas Instruments CC2500 so all that's required is a firmware change. The firmware for these was written by Simon Chambers, he has a thread on RCG about it. Apparently he has the CC2500 development kit (which costs something like $12,000) and reverse engineered the protocols by examining the radio signaling between the transmitter and receiver without actually looking at the internals which apparently makes it perfectly legal in the UK (in the US it would be in violation of the DMCA)
These should also work with the FrSky Hitec minima compatible 4, 5 and 8ch recievers, not just the Delta 8. So you have large range of recievers to use: Hitec Maxima (low latency) - Hitec Optima - Hitec minima - FrSky minima. Not sure if these Flash transmitters make use of the Optima SPC telemetrie function? That's the best thing I like about the Aurora.
Hi. I have a hitec optic 6 for 10 years!!! Simple to use, never had any problems with it and i love it! It was fm or am not sure and i converted it to 2.4 fr sky that have very very good range with a simple module swap. Very relible hitec is! Cheers and thanks for sharing.
I wonder how well the Hitec Flash transmitters have held up since they were introduced. I am still using my original Aurora 9. I think that use of heat shrink tubing and strain relief on connections that are not flexed is unnecessary and would add assembly time/cost.
When I first got my taranis I looked at the programming and had no clue. I put it away for almost 6 months before I spent the time to try to learn it. I was coming from JR radios of every generation back to the JR Quattro FM units and even some futaba am radios. There is something to be said for the straight forward programming of radios like these Hitec units. However, once I realized that the taranis let me do everything I could possibly want and that there was a big user base to back it I became a believer and can't imagine life without the taranis. Its got a copied layout/feel of the JR radios that I loved. So its a hard decision when it comes to suggesting a radio to a newcomer to the hobby. Yes these radios do wonders for quickly getting up in the air. However, I feel like I am cheating them when I wouldn't buy one myself and wonder if I had started with a taranis would it have been as hard to learn? I feel like I had to unlearn JR simplified programming before I could open my mind to all the features of the taranis and that slowed my adoption process.
Great review you have here. From your review it seems the Flash 8 would be a better choice as it had more switches. But when you mentioned it was easy to setup, how much difference was there ? What are the "easy stuffs" you found on the Flash that didn't worked easily on other system of similar price / specification ? Would you be able to make another video comparing the Flash with Spektrum, Futaba, JR etc ?
Hey there Bruce nice video.ive just bought a flash 8 along with a edge 540 with dual elevater servo 20cc and ide like to know if u know how ti set dual elevater servos up on the flash 8 thanks Bruce
What the hell! your review was fantastic as always, now when I went to find one, Hitec Flash 7 and Flash 8. I guess they are no longer available, not your fault but the thing that hooked me was the simplicity of programing, whats out there now that's this easy to use? I'm mostly a glider pilot trying to get back in to it again. I dont think at my age, 58, that I would care to figure out open TX, how ever I am gravitated to the FrSky 10 Horus with the stock system looks like it might be easy to use regardless of some of their shenanigans going on. Also I looked at some of the Futaba systems however they look to be much more complicated, please kind sir, shoot me a couple lines of input, you seem to me the guru of RC anything as far as im concerned. Thank you.
Hi Bruce. Would you recommend the FS-GT3 Tx module for a 9x, as opposed to the Flysky module? Both have Telemetry. And does the Flysky work with stock Flysky receivers?
hi bruce I have a hitec flash 7 and not shure on the positioning of the antenna, had mine at 45 degree and cept loosing conection th the receiver..any recemendations..thx mark from the uk..
+GeorgeGraves Your very first transmitter? FlySky FS-T6 Want more than 6 channels? Turnigy 9X Looking for an all-terrain, well-featured, long-lasting transmitter? Turnigy 9X + Er9X + FrSky module. This ^, but not afraid of bang your pocket? FrSky X9D Taranis Hope this helps ;)
Hello, Anyone can help me? I need to reset the default settings on the Flash 7. How can I do it? Do I need to download a software and do it from a PC, or can it be done directly on the RC?
+allenm00 I already reviewed one but to be totally honest, 2-dimensions just doesn't do it for me. I think I've used my little Shrimp Boat (podracer) about two times and now it sits in the corner gathering dust.
+Mike Meyer Yes, I bought a yacht about a year ago and last week I ordered the lead-shot for the keel. I see yachting as 2-dimensional equivalent of thermal-soaring :-) Remains to be seen whether it is enough of a challenge to hold my interest.
Tidy looking radio why did you say Danger Danger Will RobinsonI will have that theme tune in my head all day now.You will have a AXN on flight day right ??? I know its a oldie but its still GOLDEN
Thanks for the review. Hitec make nice servos but these radios are poor. No knobs, for adjusting gains etc. Irritating startup screen. They also look quite wide on the side if you have small thumbs.Too expensive, particularly if all you are after is a nice easy to use radio, and they have to compete with the new Taranis Plus. I sold my old Taranis but when I checked the competition there was nothing to compete with it. OpenTx 2.0 in the Taranis PLUS can take a bit of getting used to and they have further complicated the mixer settings but it does everything you need. I was a Futaba fan but their range is so confused now with the different radio freq protocols and all Futaba radio gear is too expensive particularly the receivers.

The power button led on the 8 changes colour for the modes from what I can see in the video Bruce..... (rather than the logo as on the 7)
+Black Dog yeah I saw that too
@@oscarzt1652 Come on Bruce, pay attention, or read the book.

the led on the push button switch on the second transmitter seems to change color when its waiting to transmit to not transmitting and to transmitting
+george aura Yeah, shame it's not consistent between models.

hooray something different than quad copters time you got back to flying some planes even if somebody else was flying and you were filming
I found a Flash 7 in new condition, I think I might go for that. Hopefully I wont be disappointed.
I believe Flahs 8 indicates the transmit on/off mode on the softswitch - red for transmit on, green for transmit off.
These should also work with the FrSky Hitec minima compatible 4, 5 and 8ch recievers, not just the Delta 8.

I shall be sticking with Hitec for the foreseeable future, even though I'm often in economy mode. ;¬)

Butt Ugly is in the eye of the fan-boy! Looks like they have many of the good features of the A9/9X, no stupid cell phone interface required, etc.
Hi Bruce! Did you made a video like this about the taranis radio?
hey there Bruce, do you think sometime soon you could do a review on the radio link AT9 receiver?
Bruce, Could you please review Radiolink AT9 transmitter? Thanks.
if you look at the POWER button on the 8, it turns green when transmitting and red when not.
Any chance of some latency tests for this & other current radios such as Taranis, 9XR etc?
Nice - is there a video that covers (for noobs) what radio you should buy? So many choices - it's overwhelming!
+GeorgeGraves
Your very first transmitter? FlySky FS-T6
Want more than 6 channels? Turnigy 9X
Looking for an all-terrain, well-featured, long-lasting transmitter? Turnigy 9X + Er9X + FrSky module.

Hope this helps ;)
+Zuben Elgenubi Get the Hitec Aurora 9, you'll love it!
If you look at on off button it changes colors vise the HI TEC LIGHT
Yea I noticed the on/off. switch changing colors also.
the hitec is similar to the radio link 9 and 10 ???
what LT and RT are for? i dont get what those trims are used for, maybe you can trick any other channel you want?
please review radiolink transmiters at9 or at10...
Hello, Anyone can help me? I need to reset the default settings on the Flash 7. How can I do it? Do I need to download a software and do it from a PC, or can it be done directly on the RC?
would the flash 7 be good for a 60 size trainer ?
so I have a dsm2 dx6i what would be a good upgrade?
have you considered reviewing Rc boats? no one is really reviewing them yet.
+allenm00 I already reviewed one but to be totally honest, 2-dimensions just doesn't do it for me. I think I've used my little Shrimp Boat (podracer) about two times and now it sits in the corner gathering dust.

+xjet fly some small helis ; ) surely they can't get you for flying a 250 in your own back yard?
+pataat oorlog My back yard is *pretty* small. Check out the end of the Flexybee video.
It’s the on off switch that changes green.
hey Bruce ! what about the at10 from radio link are they any good ??????
Tidy looking radio why did you say Danger Danger Will RobinsonI will have that theme tune in my head all day now.You will have a AXN on flight day right ??? I know its a oldie but its still GOLDEN
+xjet Can they be used with LRS? Dragon Link?
Surely, using the trainer port.

Review it after 8 years, I have a 7 and 8 all flawless.
My 9x has sliders on the back. :p
Hitec radios are not cheap. In the UK the 7 cost nearly £150
Darker screen is to prevent glare.
hitec/multiplex still sells these
You keep talking about "the end of the month". Why is that?
He is no longer making videos after the end of this month.
+MrGyro FPV I wouldn't put it that way. He _will_ be making videos on the xjet channel, but I still have hope for this one. There's still time...
Exterior looks like futaba and same display like on t8fg
It`s definitely too expensive. Flash 8 has similar price to Taranis. Receivers for Taranis are cheaper as well.
These look like nice radios but if the receivers cost 50$+ then Id still choose frsky stuff...
So scared of new radios. Stick with my dx6. So easy to use.
+tma450 no three position switch on my DX6, cheap ass spektrum
the power button has rhe different lights
yea...
He really doesnt do his research on the products before making a video
"Hot snot". Ah ha ha ha !!!!!😂
On flash 8 radio
Just bought the DX 9 and everyone reviews something else .Ratsz lol
open the 8
