Thanks Kamasi..this song have been on replay since I found it..it's now the soundtrack to my midlife crisis..my dad passed..i lost my job home and kids..but I'm here!
Thanks so much Kamasi. I keep coming back to this song after every depressive episode. Diagnosed Bipolar 2, and it's a constant struggle with the ups and lows. This just ended episode was gruesome. Wouldn't wish this ailment on anyone. But guess what, I'm here. ❤
Personally want to Thank Kamasi and the West Coast get down. Being from Los Angeles and the area of West Adams one of many neighborhoods that comprise the 22 mile radias that is South Central. These kats make me very proud. They have brought back the Los Angeles Jazz sound. I love my hometown of L.A we are extremely gifted in the arts
If you like Kamasi Washington and Jazz music you may be interested in listening to my latest podcast episode. We interview Patrice Quinn the vocalist in Kamasi's band, and the singer on this track! Podcast is called "This is Happening!" and is on the apple podcast app, iTunes, stitcher, google play, or our Soundcloud page here>>> soundcloud.com/thisishappeningthepodcast/episode-6-patrice-quinn
I found out about Kamasi through Kendrick Lamar's To PImp a Butterfly album. After listening and suggesting The Epic to friends and family I was again blown away by Kamasi's track on RTJ 3. I'm certain that Kamasi is introducing the younger generation to the wonderful genre of Jazz. Excited for what's in store in the coming years for Kamasi and his talented group!
I'm loving the music of Kamasi. His music gives me the same goosebumps like Pharoah Sanders. I have downloaded many of his tracks. Who would have thought Bruce Lee's Fist Of Fury would have such an amazing make over.
The top keyboard is a Clavinet D6 that's going through a Wah. The Nord on the bottom is using a Rhodes electric piano patch layered with an arpeggiating synth with a low pass filter on it, he opens the filter up for the last half of the song.
Despite the title, there don't appear to actually BE any changes - either in rhythm, or in harmony. A little bit of artistic license perhaps? An expression of irony or sarcasm, maybe? NO WAIT - all of a sudden there ARE some changes in harmony - not a lot, and not for long. But enough to justify the title? Maybe - but GREAT PLAYING all the same!
