It's hard to beat Askim as best song on the album but this one comes close. I play it to my daughter everyday.
+jmjones1731 that's beautiful
that's the sweetest thing. have a good one
so when thundercat was soloing, his bass was just like "fuck it i'm bored of being a bass, let's sound like an organ"...
If you like Kamasi Washington and Jazz music you may be interested in listening to my latest podcast episode. We interview Patrice Quinn the vocalist in Kamasi's band, and the singer on this track! Podcast is called "This is Happening!" and is on the apple podcast app, iTunes, stitcher, google play, or our Soundcloud page here>>> soundcloud.com/thisishappeningthepodcast/episode-6-patrice-quinn
Took me back to the days of Leon Thomas also...LOVE IT..amazing how he plays with those dentures fitted. Most have huge probs.
Kamasi reminds me of Sun Ra with the attire.
Sami Ghzala. he is such a breath of air...i think he is the chosen one to bring back Jazz...he is right in my lane of Sun Ra/Sanders/AliceColtrane/Rollins
true music, true legend.
This is delightful. It's about time to hear a song with an optimistic message! I also like the solos.... I like the way things build until the song becomes a mantra. Excellent work.
I liked this song the very first time I heard it on the radio in Atlanta. Great music!!!
What radio station were you listening to? I live in the Atlanta area and would love to know!
Brian Crosby It was 91.9 WCLK
My favorite song off of The Epic. Just saw it live in Seattle a couple of night's ago during the opening show of the tour and the experience was transformative. Epic is right.
Ohhh yes!!! They are really good!
im not very much into soul jazz but this .. you cant stay indifferent with this . i'd say the rest of The Epic also stunnig . but this is my favorite.
すばらしい 元気が出る!
It's energetic and beautiful
Wow, I am impressed
beautiful
YESSSS!!!
Why the F are people leaving in the middle of the song? History's being made onstage!...
9:20 THUNDERCAT
This soloing is next level
this is the best
Absolutely amazing. Didn't get tedious at one point
6:09... wow
Inspiring..
What is the chord progression for this song for both parts
like the way Kamasi uses her voices as another instrument, like Coltrane would use Johnny Hartman's voice. JH being the only vocalist to ever sing with Coltrane.....
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HOLLLYYYY SHIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTT
Gahhhhhlly, y'all
:')
I'm with the piano player, chewing gum and bored. Ok, it's alright...getting there, almost.
