So, I think when the masamune was forged, jenova cells were used at some point in its construction. Making the sword itself a part of Jenova.
So when Sephiroth does eventually gets the blade, it will literally become a part of him as he is jenova's son.
This is why Sephiroth can seemingly summon the sword from nothing, because the masamune is literally an extension of himself.
Spot on! Also, it would explain why Sephiroth says he needs to get the sword "back". His cells are talking through him, and Jenova cells always need to reunite... The Reunion.
and the finale fight in rebirth when you have to attack the sword… good thinking dude
NOJIMA IS COOKING!!! This deserves a full console game so much. Great video!!
He doesn’t miss, all the new stuff has been so fantastic!
Great content this month! Really liked this and the Witcher 4 trailer breakdown. Excellent job!
Thank you so much for the kind words and supporting the channel! That means so much, I’ve been working hard on it this month. Happy Holidays 🥳
So much purple whenever Jenova is messing with everyone!
Makes me wonder if Jenova controlled Prince
@@NuRm69 she def got alot of ppl before and after she was sealed away!
It's crazy that they made Sephiroth's acquisition of the Masamune another part of the Reunion... and all the Cetra/Wutai/Jenova connections. Wow! Didn't see any of that coming. This game man. 🤌
Yes I actually really like this! Great addition to the lore!
This chapter was so damn good!
Small theory I’ve kinda juggled with after seeing this ep. It always was weird to me, especially after seeing the nibelheim incident in rebirth, that septh’s decent in the darkness was too abrupt ( not in a bad way but a interesting way). First thing he wanted to go to the reactor and get his mother( and now it makes even more sense with the dreams he has with jebova in this ep) but the part that was always weird to me is why did Sephiroth kill the villagers? It felt like big jump in his character. At first I was like well maybe the jenova cells within him sort of prompted him to enact her killing and destroying nature as a parasite, but now I’m thinking of smth else, based on the info of the masamune. The incident with the old man masamune having an altercation with the people in his village and him ending up killing them is way to similar to the nibelheim incident. Idk I’m maybe going way to much into theory territory, but what if in the moment when septh sets out to go to the reactor in the night of fire, the villagers ( that were worried about him bc he was acting weird and were always following him) are sort of having they re image and intentions altered by the jenova dna inside of sephiroth, and septh sees and perceives the villagers the same way as the villagers that tried to kill and steal the sword from the old dude masamune. Meaning that the jenova cells are almost recreating the exact scenario that happened back then with old man masamune, and maybe another factor of that happening is bc sepths emotions were at a all time high. Going even further, the line of “even if the world stands against you, I’ll always be there for you” ( or smth like that ) could be the final push that septh needed to act on destroying the nibelheim village, on top of this crazy illusions based on the memory’s and experience of the jenova dna cells inside septh and maybe even inside the masamune sword itself ( if its true that the sword was made with jenova materials). What do you think?🤣🤣
Not a bad theory man. Jenova is an illusionist so very possible that Sephiroth saw the villagers as threats. I even feel Jenova was in his ear when he approached the chamber Jenova was in. If u look back, he approaches it in a very beckoned way.
I kinda see the "I'd never let that happen to me" line coming from Sephiroth's perspective.. He says something like "Why did they seal this place away? Are they trying to conceal an uncomfortable truth by erasing the past? I' d never let that happen to me." It's like, he would never let himself forget about the past just so he doesn't have to think about an uncomfortable truth.
So I see it more in correlation with him giving up his memories to stay alive in lifestream where he did exactly what he said he would never do. In the simplest form he gave up his memories so he can stay alive, he erased the past so he can conceal an uncomfortable truth of the possibility of him dying.
I think hes so connected to this world based on Cloud's traumatized memories of him, as opposed to Sephiroth casting out his memories.
I wonder if this is a prelude for how Jenova-Aerith will be used in P3. Now that Aerith is gone, Jenova is free to create a hallucination to sway Cloud the same way she swayed Sephiroth.
Absolutely that is a possibility!
Finally realised what was wrong in the Angeal dream - Genesis & his Banora White juice were the pride of Banora. That's what's happening in the dream, Genesis was edited out!
Hahah, asked for this on your video yesterday. Excited to see! Not played it, but always wanting to hear your thoughts!
Hope you both have a great Christmas Philip!
Thank you!! Merry Christmas! 🎄
AMAZING chapter
Geeeez man. I really hope this comes to console one day! Not all of Ever Crisis necessarily, just First Soldier
Alissa is Jenova. ( BTW Wasn’t the arm missing or arm injury in OG FF7? What’s the deal with missing arms?)Cuz Sephiroth sacrificed her for the Masamune. Maybe 😅.
Your Sam Elliott impression on Bachman is hilarious! 😂
Additionally, are these visions reminding you of what happened in the Temple of the Ancients?!
The question for me which this story really connects everything about Sephiroth in a beautiful full circle is who exactly is Alissa? Is she who is being portrayed? Is even Bachman being deceived? From the beginning movie, the camera is dropped by a man in a robe, could that man in the robe be Bachman after all of these events?? It seems like Angeal's dreams are more of a healthy memorial of his recent past while Sephiroth's are a bunch of manipulated dreams that will end up taking him down a dark path. The interesting thing in Angeal's dreams is that we know Angeal and Genesis were best friends growing up, which leads me to the question of "Why wasn't Genesis included in that memory of Angeal leaving for Shinra?"
Was it because Angeal's dreams are potentially being manipulated too or Genesis for whatever reason just wasn't there?
At this time where is Glenn, Matt, and Lucia? In chapter 1 you see Sephiroth actually resents Bachman's comments about Glenn with a gesture.
What I think may happen is that Alissa herself is being manipulated or she was spared for a "reason" and that may come to fruition at some point. It would be interesting to see her join the roster of party members at some point, but perhaps chapter 3 in February will give us a bigger piece of the puzzle in order to accurately predict that. If that happens perhaps she becomes a romantic interest for Angeal.
Hear me out: we're gonna find those recordings in part 3, something bad will happen to bachman and the tapes will be lost. We might enter this forbidden zone in part 3, and recover these tapes... and vincent is gonna recognise alyssa...
The devs will make it so that we have to search for the tapes in a wutai side quest to see the entire first soldier story in the main game... its the best way to add sephiroths backstory to the main game, why else is Bachmann filming everything?
Also on a side note, in chapter 1 of the first soldier, it ends with sephiorth in the edge of creation, meaning everything we are seeing here, is the past that sephiroth is thinking about. Sephiroth knows those visions of his mother arent real, therefore he must know jenova isnt on his side... im starting to think "7 seconds till the end" is gonna be a choice given to cloud whether to team up with sephiroth to take on jenova or not... man this evercriss stuff is next level... it changes everything
Phil I feel like this doesn’t match your theory too much anymore and I definitely preferred your idea for the sword 😅
A couple of things:
I do find Alissa’s call out to Angeals affinity to fiends very interesting stating somthing about their hunger .. considering his ability to copy himself onto fiends in crisis core; but how was Alissa able to call this out?
Also we see projections of the past with wutai seemingly produced by these purple orbs; these purple orbs; are they produced by the masamune? And if so, this looks to be similar to how sephiroth was able to create the same projections at the northern crater to deceive cloud. I wonder if this is an ability or am i reading too much into it?
All this purple everywhere hey? It doesn't give clear Jenova vibes not every time but I feel it's there to be talked about as much as the rainbows are in Rebirth. EDIT: on second thought I am more aligned like you are. Jenova can take the form of anyone you fear and love and create hallucinations too but we also got that sort of stuff in the temple however the purple stuff and Lucrecia vibes now ring a bell. I was thinking it's more of a Sephiroth sister or similar pairing to the Angeal or Genesis births though I am leaning slightly towards more of Jenova itself.
Alissa gives me a ton of ... TIFA vibes. Look at 3:18 and you'll see that that's the same pose Tifa does multiple times in the OG. The character designs are also similar.
Tifa + Lucrecia.... But why was she spared? Was there a grand plan all along?
Sephiroth is Jenova
