I did this about 10yrs ago and can confirm had to file out the area to fit the new enclosure in. I also paid $120 for a patch lead so that I could keep my steering wheel stereo controls. I would like to get a head unit with carplay now, but can't be arsed. I might try one of those cheapies and see.
