After we had some hot water issues recently (CH seemed OK but HW only got hot when the tap was half-open), I thought I'd check the diverter cartridge and, as happened to you, only the top half came out. I had to remove the diverter assembly to remove the remains - Initially, this looked like it was going to be a nightmare as the bottom half was intact but wedged in place. Thankfully, you can turn it upside-down, insert a screwdriver into the CH flow side and hammer it out. Turns out, that wasn't the issue, though - I think it was working fine but just snapped when I unscrewed it. Oh well, would have probably died at some point so at least it's been replaced now!
At baxi training they suggested to crack open the flow nut on the flow manifold. I find holding the Diverter pin down whilst screwing it back in relieves pressure. Make sure you leave a hot water outlet tap open. Shop vac always works to remove any broken debris from the flow manifold. I've got one to attend in a day or 2. Customers saying water is only getting warm not hot. I hope it's just the p2p or hot water ntc. These were never all that great due to them having a aluminium hex. I've encountered main elites pissing out water. Stay safe and stay blessed bro 👍🏼
Again coming with the golden nuggets! I’ve pinned this. I hope others are learning from your comments because I definitely learn a thing or two. I’ve heard about other engineers opening the flow nut, they reckon it allows the diverter to come out easier, never really done it myself though. Gonna give it a try next time to see
I've ordered xartrudge and motor head ..we got heating but water runs cold in no time . Occasionally get lucky to get some or run 2 taps say upstairs and may get it hotter . Do you think it's this /these or exchange plate? Thanks
@@kevinhancock4064 Turn boiler off run hot tap to cool hot wter outlet under boiler. Turn boiler back on and run only the central heating. Does the 2nd (15mm) left dhw outlet pipe go warm or hot?
Great video 🙏 would you please do a video on capping off a meter in an unsafe situation ie appliance is ID. We read about never see it for real. Thanks.
Hey, it’s the rogue 5.0. Been using it for about a month now and I really like it. It has enough space to pretty much have everything you need for a breakdown (including your vessel pump which I really like). The only downside I’ve found is the bag is quite bulky (especially when you’ve got the pump attached). A few times I’ve had the bag on my back and accidentally scratched walls or knocked something over in a customers house because it’s so big🤣. But apart from that it’s a great bag. If you’re interested in how I loaded it out, shoot me a dm on Insta and I’ll show you 👍
@@advancedboilertraining nice one. Thanks for the reply.. Good to know how it works for you. I don't have insta but would love to see how you load it out (maybe a quick clip on UA-cam would be appreciated). I was considering the rogue 2.0 but thought it might be a little on the small side although quite a few breakdown guys do like and recommend it. Do you know how it compares size wise. or maybe the rogue 4.5. Is it the same size as the 5. Many thanks. Loving you uploads by the way..
@@advancedboilertraining It would be great if to see what tools you use day to day. I ordered the diverter and flow turbine removal tools a few weeks back. So far so good, I haven't had a chance to use the flow turbine one yet. We're all learning bro, I've gathered some good information from your tutorials too 🤗
@@rayc1503 this weekend I’ll post a short vid on the main tools I use 👍 I think it’ll maybe help newer engineers to know what tools to use, and hopefully others can let me know what tools I need to make my life easier on breakdowns 😅
Good video. I have the same boiler and currently have hot water but no heating. Putting it in service mode (to change high/low flame) has got my heating working again however and whilst in service mode it seems fine but the boiler cycles on and of with the flame. Otherwise when you call for heating from the wireless stat the actuator valve opens but the boiler doesn’t respond. No led light on heating. No pump running. Nothing. But when in service mode it’s all working fine and rads warm up. Any idea what’s up with it? Cheers
@@advancedboilertraining no problem mate, I think your methodology is class the way you explain the removal and refit of various parts in boilers. You have done a great selection from your van up to now 👏👏👏
What's the name of the silver tool you pulled out of your velocity bag to get the diverter cartridge out? Will it work on the Ideal Logic boiler diverter cartridge? For this video you got a sub from me. Thanks for this video.
Hey there, I don’t know if there’s an exact name for it but if you go on eBay and type in “Baxi diverter cartridge tool” it should come up. On one of the eBay listings it says it also works for Ideals and Biasi’s so maybe. But I can’t guarantee it myself as I’ve never got the chance to use it on an ideal. Hope that helps!

@Ray C turn it off completely? Or just select off on the dial ? I can check this now thanks

Hi, do you have any video showing replacing complete diverter assembly on Mains ECO 30 HE?
Thank you for great video
Brilliant video full of much need information thank you
Shattered diverter valve cart-go in through the bottom pipe to poke it out.
hi, i am getting very hot water in radiators but in only warm water in water taps all around the house, what do you recon shall i do?
Same issue here u got it sorted yet ? My thoughts are water flow regulator (but doubt it) diverter cartridge and /or heat exchanger plate
Change the heat exchanger
