If you are an independent artist/in a band/ know someone in a band that needs an opportunity to be heard - Email: ⚠️DFBusinessEnquiries@gmail.com⚠️
for an opportunity to have a 30 second snippet of your work aired at the beginning of one of my videos!🤘🏼
Sub count as of upload: 101,064 - Розваги
Most liked comment on this video is where we go next!🔥
what if that is your comment! :O
If Behind the Sun gets picked just know that it's a bit different from what you have heard before. It's very atmospheric and insanely hypnotizing. Starts off slow and sludgy then gets progressivly heavier. Entirely written by vocalist Jens!
Edit: Not an Elon track lol but it's so damn sinister
I actually like when creators remind me of liking the video. Because I want to do it since it does help, but I really don't think of it. So keep doing that and I'll keep liking.
Yes Siir! I am so glad that you enjoyed this album! :)
The moment you found the Pineapple groove was magic
🍍🍍🍍🍍
*Morpheus voice* He's beginning to believe.
Those are the moment I watch reaction videos for.
Which one is that?
I think pineal gland optics is one of the best heavy songs ever written. The groove in that song is unreal
DO NOT LOOK DOWN!!!
YEEEES! I SECOND THIS
MARROW!!
You are the king of reactions to meshuggah. No one has dared venture into an entire album of theirs for reactions. I mean, you did "I"! That's a rarity. Thank you my friend.
Thank you sir!👑
Behind the Sun, Rational Gaze, Corridor of Chameleons would be awesome to see next. These tracks are right up your alley!
Also huge thanks for being pretty much the only youtuber who reacts to Meshuggah beyond the one track everyone does. I really hope that you'll get your award sometime down the line, you deserve it. Until then, keep doing your thing...we all enjoy your content a lot!
Yeah, he's the only one who tries to give Meshuggah a honest chance unlike the people who listens to Bleed and never listens to them again. Their catalog is a goldmine and once you "get it" it's one of the best, grooviest and most impressive bands ever.
@@kettilsnel9401 100% agree, they are special
Thank you gents, my pleasure ❤️
@@DrewFortune97 Djents* fixed that for ya
Corridor of chameleons:)
Pineal Gland Optics is actually pretty funky
whole Catch Thirtythree or bust!
You’re a legend for doing all these bro! The album before Obzen is their zenith for me, and quite possibly the greatest metal record of all time. It’s essentially one continuous song (think *I* but twice as long, twice as groovy, and twice as crushing). That album is *Catch 33* - and if you are able and willing to react to it sometime, that will elevate your channel to similar status as far as I’m concerned 😁
I, being a total mesh-head, think they only improved. However, that said Catch 33 is indeed special and they should do, if not something like a sequel, then just another similar concept.
The really impressive thing about this band as a whole is just how natural it is. If you ever watch any interviews with them where the topic of time signatures come in, they're usually just like.. "I dunno man, it's all just 4/4." And that's really where I think a lot of people overthink this band when they try to listen to them. Even in these chaotic, off time sections, there's usually always a beat to anchor on to. Sometimes it's the snare, sometimes it's the hi hat, other times it's just a certain kick drum hit or a specific guitar note that falls back to that 4/4 base. I'm just glad you've given them a chance and taken us along for your journey through their music. Keep it up, man.
BEHIND THE SUN
Hypnotic riffs? Oh boy, one day you're gonna discover the Nothing Album and Catch 33
Yeees
If he were to do catch 33, he should do the entire album in one sitting
Yes, tttotally.
Catch 33 is one of those albums you listen from start to finish 50 times in your lifetime
Stifled, from their album The Violent Sleep of Reason. That song is incredibly epic and has a beauutiful outro! Do it along with the next song, Nostrum, since Stifled's outro leads directly into Nostrum's intro. Nostrum is an absolutely mental song that has some incredible impressive drums. Thanks for doing these reactions, love the shared enjoyment!
Stifled sounds like a giant monster crashing into mountains. The tension in every THWOOM is absurd.
Nostrum is one of the most unique metal tracks I've ever heard. You have to do it eventually!
Rational Gaze
The album Koloss next.
C'monnnn, that would be killer
Koloss was my gateway tbh, a much easier listen than this record, so kudos to him for jumping into this first
I don't know if you're saving/building up to Catch Thirtythree; but come on, you know you want to - rip that band-aid off! ;)
And I might suggest following the track order. There are a lot of short tracks and crossfades.
@@intoc8727 Catch 33 should always be listened to from start to finish! Mainly becuause it's basically one long song, just like "I".
He has to the seamless version
@@OHBJJ9634 Yeah, no stupid UA-cam videos! Spotify on that one!
The Destroy Erase Improve album is quite a vibe!
*SOUL BUUUUURN* DUN DUNDUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUNDUN DUN DUN DUN DUN
Epic album. Do it. 🤘🐐🏆🇸🇪
yeahhhhhh this one next please!!!
This one and Catch 33 will probably forever be my favourite Meshuggah albums. Destroy is just a classic, love how experimental and jazzy this album gets at times. Every track is amazing
You’re a champ for having the patience to do all these vids for meshuggah. I respect the passion
I'll just say this ... Behind the sun .
CORRIDOR OF CHAMELEONS!
Do it! 🤘
Absolutely!!
Everly walking among ourselves down the corridor of CHAMELEOOOOONS !!!
Rational gaze! Elon would love it.
A less popular track, that is one of their finest (and composed by the vocalist, Jens Kidman), is Behind The Sun. It gives the word heavy a new meaning. Gotta react to it🙏🏻
Was about to suggest that song. My personal favorite, a hidden gem in their work, specially the last 2 minutes.
Holy crap, I missed that part! I know he played guitar in Meshuggah's early, early days but...assuming he composed it on guitar...
Finally This Spiteful Snake 🤘
The grooves, I'm feelin' it right in my pineapple gland 🍍
Please don't stop the Meshuggah train, this makes my night after work hahah
Closed eye visuals is a cousin to pineal gland optics, you may dig?
Def check out the album Chaosphere, some of the heaviest songs they ever released.
Pineapple optics is one of fav songs. I make a stank face ever time I hear it
Fredrik thordendal solo album sol niger within a amazing piece of music and the full version would be great because the small 2001 version doesn't even cut the surface of the album
Nothing next for sure, remastered of course
I actually like the original Nothing album more.
But still, do the remastered :)
This Spiteful Snake is all about the drums.
Do Not Look Down should be next
Behind the Sun!
The word you are looking for is when you find the ‘pulse’ of the song
I wanna see a reaction to Koloss. The album that goes right after this one. My personal favorite!!
The "Nothing" album is nothing short of a brutal masterpiece. That gets my vote!
The final moments of By The Ton off of TVSOR has possibly their heaviest riffing of any song. Something you can just keep rewinding over and over.
🍍🍍🍍 NOTHING. From straight to finish. Need that STENGAH reaction into Rational Gaze 🍍🍍🍍
You better buy Obzen. How does one listen to a Meshuggah record once?
So... time for Nothing?.. Maybe some, PERPETUAL BLACK SECOND? ;)
Behind The Sun, one of my favorites Meshuggah tracks ever, sheer epicness
'Nostrum' is a good'un from their recent album
I wish they would play pineal gland optics live.... 😭😭😭
I think we can all agree on that this album is a MASTERPIECE🤘You can’t quit now. We need you to keep going🥳 Oh, and please remember;
N E U R O T I C A
Fredricks lead guitar tone on the optics solo is beautiful
I would go as far as to say that Pineal Gland Optics' groove is almost "cozy".. where it still hits like a great Meshuggah track should, but its easy enough to follow.. and it was fun to watch someone else finally 'get it' lol.. I'll echo recommendations for Catch-33 for something of a pinnacle listen (would have to be the whole thing in a stretch as the album plays like one continuous track). This Meshuggah run was definitely a treat for sure, excited to see what comes next. Cheers!
Jump in the “NOTHING” album next!!
If only they could play it live now
Would love to see you react to Behind The Sun, but I know for a fact that as soon as you hear Do Not Look Down, it's gonna be you're favorite Shugg track.
Yes that's what I thought!
Rational gaze, pure groove
Love it Drew! You rock!
Car Bomb - Dissect Yourself. Super crazy rhythms and sounds.
Keep it up man love your reactions and comments!
Dude you got this dooown! This was such a great one to watch, especially two songs with different pacing, and just seeing how amazed you are by it and love it, knowing maybe a year or two ago you might not have even gave this stuff a chance is EXACTLY what I look for in life, opening minds to new things and shattering their preconceptions on things.
But okay so first off, wanna say you definitely got the groove down, you officially can vibe to Meshuggah, there's a few things you said and did where I was like fuck yeah, he gets it ALL now! Like TRULY gets it, as a fan and lover of music
The other thing I wanted to point out is you keep saying they have these almost calming/meditative/trance enducing, yet punishing riffs. And absolutely, that is their thing, idk what it is, the atmosphere they create, or just the otherworldly experience OF just what Meshuggah is and everything they do to amount to such an insane, technical, unique, yet calming sound. But also for this album in particular think about the name of it
Obzen
Obscene and Zen smashed together. Still applies to all of their music for the most part, but this album really does have that vibe, like a LOT on both sides of obscene AND zen
Anyway, enough of my ramblings. Keep up the amazing work, glad you're uploading every day and sticking to it, and glad it just so happened to be when you really started digging into Meshuggah. And I'm glad your channel exists, you just _get_ it, and it's organic, ever changing, and just pure. I can't explain the joy it brings me, as a music lover, and musician.
Now to go back a bit in the video, and watch your mind get reblown to pineapple bits. Because that was absolutely priceless 🤣 "This ain't Elon coming out, this is just me" lmao
Oh and one last thing I forgot to mention, when you are grooving to that pulse I the song, and then the riff changes, yeah it might sound completely different and in different spots, because Meshuggah, lol. BUT, the thing is, sometimes it doesn't actually change tempo or time signatures. Just a different riff with different ways they're playing with time with "metric modulation," and different notes of course. Again, not big into music theory quite yet, just little things I've caught onto over the years. So you can just keep headbanging to the same rhythm and speed, but your head might start to feel like a pendulum, as I like to explain it. The riffs, and changes in them sometimes, just kinda make you nod and swing your head almost to those longer bended notes, or just the way things just have a pull in the rhythm at least for me. Saw you doing it a few times too, haha
Wow, what a great comment. I could have never put this into words like you did but having a strong connection to Meshuggah's music I feel exactly the same.
@@alexanderschildknecht2090 Thanks man, I appreciate that. And yeah, Meshuggah has had a place in my heart pretty much since a bit after I got into metal in middle school, probably found them at around 13 or 14, be 29 next month. I remember just discovering so many subgenres at that particular point, and the names alone were enough to grab my attention at that point, but then I heard a song and couldn't stop trying to find more for so long. Good ol' Limewire days, haha. A lot of what I found was off the album Nothing at first, so I feel looking back that I got into them in so many great ways, because that's still one of my favorite albums. Glad to know someone else feels the same, and appreciates my acknowledging of these things. Our journeys may not have been the same, but music, not to be cliché, literally just connects people somehow in the deepest ways, it seems
New cyanide millennium Christ is thee perfect Meshuggah song ever... From their complex timing to that dissonant ambient riff..... Makes one want to venture to the edge of the world and ponder on human existence and the science behind it all..... There's so many epic songs by this band...... Their riffs.... Not sticking to the norm.... Looping complexity into science...... No other bands come even close..... 🔥🔥🔥
I don't know if it were me who pushed you to listen Pineal gland optics or there were another guys, but I'm totally glad you did it. Cause there you can see that the song contains self-description.
There's verse: "threatening, so complete in beautiful deformity".
This song is totally complete, and could you please hear it over and just try to imagine, how the f*ck a person could ever commit such deformed rhyme and yet so melodic. And very very threatening.
Actually, there's feeling, that the threat is growing while song's going, and then you finally die on outro.
You'll like marrow too its heavy, groovy, heavy, Groovy, great for for driving
I love listening with you, Drew!
This is easily the most Meshuggah Ive heard in me life! The wall to wall - nay, mountain to mountain of noise thats been batterin' from these vids is insane. The riffs smash and rebound like planets and rockets supercharging into eachother with yer man hollering over the meditated chaos like an irate overlord overseeing the controlled carnage. And, Im not even muchof a fan, but I get the intention and appreciate it. Im sure fans appreciate that you get in the zone and offer analysis that grows in appreciation as you travel through the tectonic tonnage, track by track. So yes, good stuff yet again, m'chara.
Look at you counting to 4!! I'm so proud 😄 Glad that you stuck with the rest of ObZen as those are two of the more overlooked songs for sure. I'd definitely recommend their Nothing album next. Also, fun fact about the grooves in general, when you can't hear any kind of consistent cymbal or snare pattern but you still find yourself grooving along, that's basically the underlying tempo of the song that sets the pace, and that's what they would have set the metronome to when recording it in the studio. Also, HAKEN!!!
Love your vids dude and by far my favorite reactioner! Seeing how you did "I" you should go all out and do the entire catch 33 album in all its glory in one epic 45 min video. The album is basically one song altho its broken up into 13 tracks, but thats lame to do them individually cus they continuesly flow together with no break. Your the man and obzen is one of the best albums in metal history! Keep rockin bro!
Meshuggah phase 1: complete.
Catching that groove and being able to choose what beat (subdivision) to follow is what it's all about and you've well and truly started feeling that! Here's to the continuation of your journey ✌
Rational Gaze is one of their most popular but for a good fucking reason, the live version in Tokyo is basically identical to their studio version but even more impressive
Pineal Gland Optics, that last half 10:40 is so fuckin orgasmic. I involuntary envision some violent Warhammer 40k massacre during that part, like the most brutal gory conflict imaginable.
KYUSS 50 million year trip.
Please.
2:47 incredible riff
Chaosphere. Make it happen!
You want hypnotic? Catch 33 is your anwer! Listen to it from start to finish! It's chopped up in different "tracks" mainly because it's so much longer than "I". But just like "I" it's to be considered as one long song. Their best album imo!
I’ve always struggled to do a deep dive in to meshuggah’s discography. Always respected them immensely but found it hard to find a groove in some songs “ they are just so fucking relentless!”. Although I really liked some songs I just found it hard to sit though more than say 3 songs before I needed a break. You have helped me get into meshuggah after years of trying. Thank you Dude. Keep up the great reactions. Also, check out Vola - head mounted sideways, it’s for fans of Meshuggah and Tesseract or any techy, proggy, djenty metal fan. It fucking rules.
I'd say Stengah and more stuff from the Nothing album would be a great place to go next. Once you're done with all of that, Catch Thirtythree in its entirety will be the apex of your Meshuggah experience. It's a full album, but every song flows together into one massive song. I'll be excited for that one, but take your time getting there! There's still plenty of great stuff to hear first!
Meshuggah "Demons Name is Surveillance". 🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿.
Yes pls! That song gives every drummer leg cramps
Sickening
Nice! 🤘🏻🤘🏻 it’s off to the Nothing album now...😉
Groove is all about FEEEEEEEEL maaaaaan. Just groove along to whatever FEEEEELLs right, you don't need to follow a specific part of an instrument or anything. Just go with the FEEEEEEll!!!!
PGO purposely feels chaotic and uneasy for the first half of the song, like painfully brining you to a breaking point. And then the grove slams. Such a cathartic release. It’s as close as we have to talking to aliens.
Closed eye visuals will get you jamming
End of Optics sounds like a fucking 4 million strong army methodically invading your mind.
I mite indeed too, indulge in request for Devin Townsend. "Genesis". Christ on a Bike, theres a party load of absolutely everything that rationally relates and flows fantastically together. Angelic choirs summon some kind of electro sounded first act, only to summon a viciously catchy chorus that is thrusted into the next galaxy by rocket charged guitars and blastbeat percussion. Oh, and lets not forget the cinematic orchestrated interlude after this, a brief spot of disco rock, and some nice soothing, sweet ambience 'fore that. Then, it blasts you 'cross the stars again to the end.
you sir are awesome for hearing this much meshuggah!!! whatever meshuggah song u react to is awesome but in the end i do hope you hear Catch 33! remember just headbang or groove how u naturally feel, there’s no right or wrong as long as you enjoy the music! that goes for any kind of music or anything in life that makes you happy.
Your intro looks like a gaming channel. Also you and your setup look perfectly for gaming😂👊
As others have said, glad you're doing more than just the popular songs by them and moving on. Keep it up man!
React to Pomegranate Tiger - Sign of Ruin!
Finally pineal gland optics:) heavy jazz song
Good reaction
Way Out of Here (live) by Porcupine Tree
Meshuggah is crazy. You’re running the djent gambit.
Closed eye visuals is a good one
This album is an absolute banger 🔥
Drew! When you get to it, their album Catch-33 is a single 40-ish minute song. It’s subdivided into tracks but they flow into each other - it’s really hard to tell where one track stops and the next starts if you aren’t looking.
Meshuggah - pitch black. Awesome single they released in 2013 with a live version of dancers to a discordant system. Super underrated meshuggah song.
🤘🍍🤘
Meshuggah - I Am Colossus
They also have a track called 'War'. Which if I could describe it succinctly is imagine a kid is in a band with his friends. They're jamming together until his mom tells them to stop playing. But instead of stopping they play louder, faster, and heavier out of spite. The kids just happen to be incredible musicians in this situation though 😆🤘
War is also good if you wanted to hear Meshuggah sound like a thrash metal band haha
MAAAARRRROOOWWWW!!
Don’t look down!!!!
Meshuggah guitarist Fredrik thordendal released a solo album 1996 called sol niger within released a remastered and edited version called version 3.33 please do a one go reaction to that if u want to be blown away. Meshuggah drummer Thomas haake is doing vocals on that album as well.
Clockworks drum play through. Haake is a God!
Check out sol niger within. Its Fredrik's solo project. Definitely worth checking out even if its very long in length
10:41 GOD riff! ... and you pause. lol That change there, and the second coming shortly after... so fucking good. But congrats on locking in the nod there. You'll see a lot where you can just keep going through most of the tracks with the same slow nod.
PLEASE do Catch 33 next!!! 🤘 and then KOLOSS!
Behind the Sun, Rational Gaze, and the entire Catch 33 album. Catch 33 has to be listened to in order because most songs seamlessly blend into the next. It's a hell of an experience, and you're def ready for it.
The snare is a sixteenth note offbeat from the usual quarternote pulse you'd expect - hence the "weird" feel of it.
Drew. Vektor-recharging the void.
I warned you about these tracks! The face in the thumbnail says it all 😂
