The D-Max is certainly one my list. I liked your review and could see one of these parked outside my country home.

  • @the510wagon

Finally! They added red stitching. When I test drove the DMax last year I had to make the difficult decision to walk away. The plain stitching was a deal breaker for me. Especially at school pick up and the tennis club car park, next to all the Rangers and Amaroks with their fancy stitching. It would have been a disaster.

@@marcusjackson4063 I hope the next model update gets a 16 ounce GVM upgrade (so I can haul more lattes) and drum brakes on the front axle to match the rear. And more red stitching.... on the bumpers.

@@the510wagon haha, no one gets your irony mate. Love it. While I agree with the sentiment, that the vast majority buying these have no real use for them and would be way better off buying a larger SUV (particularly families since the boot space is better than the silly little tray), some of us have farms/properties and like the comfort afforded by the little luxury touches on the long drives to town. Ok, maybe not red stitching! The 4 door utes are very impractical, for the school run or hauling lattes; most of those around my property, including what I have on order with Iszuzu, are single cab so you actually have room for equipment.

That lane support system update is available for the MY21 as well, for free, on request at your dealership. Also, for off roading, the stock D-Max is very capable of off-roading. Yes, the bottom touches, but it's a ute. Go and mod it if you want to drive off-road regularly.

Nice Ute. I test drove one back to back with a Hilux SR5 Rogue.
The DMax felt like a cheaper build than the Hilux. Hilux on road dynamics have improved dramatically since the last one I drove about 5 years ago. Also the local Isuzu sales team were downright arrogant with respect to availability and pricing.

450 NM is good enough for a vehicle like this. Also Ford and Toyota always estimate their engine outputs instead of running it on a bloody dyno and actually testing power at the flywheel. Toyota has a tendency to over estimate

I’m in SA and price for this Ute is almost the same as the outgoing ford ranger wiltrak, the knowledge that the “old”
Wiltrak is better than this makes buying it a difficult proposition. The new wiltrak will definitely be a lot more expensive but the old 1 is still better than all other utes including the dmax, is it better than the hilux @least?
