- Hey guys, here's the Synyster Gates Master Class!
Part 1
I had my camera set up behind the other film crew that was there.
I don't think they really liked it, also, they were giving me a 10 sec eta, haha. (Also standing in front of the camera a lot) ;o, could have been an accident, though. My apologies, I didn't have much time to set up the camera in a good spot. However, I brought my GoPro and recorded what I could just in case something like this happened. ;)
I'll be uploading the next parts in a bit. Probably 1 a day or so.
Hope you guys enjoy it!! I'll also be uploading other recordings I made while I was in Hollywood with the other contestants.

As a great guitarist on youtube, Chris Zoupa once said, it's very hard to combine technicality and feel to the perfect blend so that it touches the hearts of all fans. Synyster, congradulations because you managed to do that. Listening to your riffs and solos give me eargasms XD

Synyster Gates is by far my favorite guitarist ever!!!!!!!! His style is so clean and impeccable. I love the fire and ice technique. Blues along with harmonic minor scales. And don't even get me started on his sweeping abilities. Phenomenonal!!!!!

Why isn't stuff like this on their new album. I appreciate going back to a sound that everyone knows and loves but capitalize on your talents and progress. This song was SICK and brought me back to the City of Evil days. AWESOME!

Got to give Synyster Gates so credit. Not much of an Avenged Sevenfold fan but he was so relaxed and in the pocket during that it was ridiculous and when he was getting into it during the slow hand phrases that was awesome. I think that the more he progress...man if he keeps getting better by the time he's 40 he'll be pretty freakin' sweet.

The reality of it is that Syn is insanely talented at what he does! He knows what he's capable of and he knows what his style of playing is. Plus not to mention the fact that he's clearly enjoying what he's doing. And that's a huge thing!
Yes, technicality is great but I'd much rather take influence from someone who plays with feel. Anyone can go home and learn a few scale patterns but if you don't know how to play them with feel, then it's just a waste of time.
With that said, Syn rocks. We know he does. Please quit your bitching!

Awesome! I've been waiting like 4 months for this so it's awesome it's finally here! It sucks the camera crew didn't respect your camera but you did a killer job making the best of the footage you've got. I really appreciate it and am eager to watch the other parts. If you tap the actual feet fast and hard it rings out a harmonic. They can be moved and stuff too. Eddie van halen's live solos are full of it. Even the mean street intro has it. Experiment and find which ones ring leader for you!

Nick M practice my friend. that's all he does. push yourself to play something you think is once 1% over your limit. and practice it note by note, if you have the patience and will power you will make strides in your playing.
Nick M Like what was said man, practice. And if you're having a hard time doing the techniques, good. Because if you're struggling, then you're making progress.
Look up the techniques, practice them slowly. Increase your speed when you feel like you can do so without sacrificing the clarity of the notes or your control over them. I used to increase speed by the week, even if if was just a tiny bit. Week 15 you'll look back at Week 1 and be like damn, I got a hell of a lot better. Imagine doing that for years.
Most important thing besides learning techniques, applying them on your own. Don't play only one part of the fretboard. I do something I call 'playing blind'.
Basically play the whole fretboard without anything in mind, just combining notes and techniques to understand how they all relate to one another. Sooner than you think you'll be creating your own scales, progressions, ideas etc that your mind and fingers will memorize in your own unique style.
