Beautiful car. My dad has I believe a 70 satellite. Not running, but think originally it had a dead 318, so he put in a 383, and that died after years. So he parked it, and one day he wants to get it running again with a 440 he has across the field. It's a big project, but he helped me with my Fiero, so I'm kinda obligated to help him when he decides to do it haha.
Congrats on your 71 RR! Love it! I used to own a 71 just like yours in a calf shit yellow Imron paint. Looked nice with the black reflecting stripes like yours. Mine was also a 4 speed pistol grip. I put American Racing wheels on it, jacked it up like yours and put beefier tires on it, like yours. I really miss that car-never sell yours or you'll regret it like me!
Your speedometer is cable driven from a gear in the tailshaft of the transmission. You can change the gear to adjust for your rear gear and tire diameters.
And if I'd have paid attention I would have realized you meant the tach. Anyways, I'd wire up a good tach just to verify your suspicion. There is only a wire from the coil to the tach so doubtful that's going to throw the rpm off. If it is off no choice but to pull it and have it rebuilt to fix it. Redline Gauge Works did a great job on mine.
@@FieroAustin I have a 82 trans am all redone suspension set up roll cage engine professional built all new inside and out I would like to trade it for a Mopar I can send pictures
@@FieroAustin I remember when I was shopping, seeing a Superbird on a dealer's used lot for around $3500. I gave it some thought abd decided I'd probably wrap myself around a tree with it.
I like that body style a lot. The fact that it has a 383 is even better! Do not change the intake manifold. The Torker 2 has better high end power with at least equal low-end power compared to a dual plane.
@@FieroAustin You have the right idea. Single plane for the strip, dual plane for the street. You ABSOLUTELY lose torque with a single plane intake. That's the whole idea. You sacrifice some torque and make it up (and then some - with horsepower) at the big end (at the strip). Amplify that if the engine is bone stock. GORGEOUS car!
Mine was almost exactly the same. Except the elestomeric bumbers and mirrors. No wing and Automatic 727 slap stick. Tried Holley carbs thermoquads Carters. Settled with the Holley. Got t boned in late 80s sure do miss it.
I remember the dealer having a whole lot of these cars next to each other- about twenty of them. They were plymouth satellite sebrings and a couple of road runners.

Beautiful car i must say. I recently picked up a 71 satellite thats dressed as a roadrunner. Im probably gonna put a 340 in it but have to see. Got too many cars at the moment lol got. 68 barracuda fastback a 70 dart swinger a 72 demon and a 71 duster.
The bar stripes ARE reflective..... they were made by the 3M company( I bought a set to put on my '72 bird, back in 1982- back while parts could still be had at Chryco dealerships.)
I've always had a-bodies and like I said in the previous comments I recently picked up a 71 satellite dressed as a road runner but there's something I'm unsure about with these 71s. Were rallye gauges standard in a 71 satellite and road runner? Also was a 150mph speedometer standard in a 71 satellite and road runner along with a factory tach? I'm asking because the 71 satellite I have has a 150mph speedometer and a tach and its not showing and indication of the cluster being swapped or even the entire dash itself being swapped. Also usually when people swap clusters or entire dashes they never get everything working again unless it's a restored car which my 71 is not a restored car and the tach works in my car and that's just something I wouldn't expect if the cluster was swapped out or the entire dash was swapped.
I might not be the guy to ask, but from my understanding rally gages were an option on both satellites and road runners, so it very well may have been factory. I have seen a 72 satellite with original rally gages.
Got it that way but the guy said they were "like original" however I've never seen them either. Not on any other car. They're some sort vinyl coated paper I think. Kind of nice, keeps dings away.
James did all tuning included in the cost of the harness. Send him your PCM with the harness. See the harness section of the build thread for some details. You can be specific on what you want done or he can just take care of it. www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/139530.html#p11
