    The build is looking really nice and clean! Very impressive. Looking forward to the next installment. There’s no doubt it’ll be be structurally sound

      Thanks Jay! Taking my time with this one and making sure it’s done right the first time! Not to mention I only get to peck at it here and there after work when I dont already have other plans!! Haha.

    Looking really good. I was surprised you didn't use VHB tape for the panels though.

      Thank you! I don’t think it would survive being baked in the oven to cure after powder coat unfortunately.

    • @dirttrekking4321
      @dirttrekking4321 2 місяці тому

      @@Adv4x4 I didn’t think about that. Powder coating that, probably isn’t inexpensive either.

    • @Adv4x4
      @Adv4x4  2 місяці тому

      @dirttrekking4321 yeah I’m betting it won’t be cheap. Id rather have it done right the first time though! I’m sure I’ll still come in at a fraction of the price of a pre made camper once all said and done.

    You can also glue aluminum components together in addition to the rivets.

    • @Adv4x4
      @Adv4x4  3 місяці тому

      I did not know that! My only caution against adhesive is I’m not sure if the baking process of the powder coating would compromise any adhesive or sealant which is why I’m waiting to do any til it’s coated!

    looks great man! really enjoying this series. If you can use woodworking tools on aluminum could you also use flush trim router bit with a bearing to trim any overhang over the aluminum sheet? or maybe to cut out the fan opening?

    • @Adv4x4
      @Adv4x4  3 місяці тому

      Potentially! Although it may be a bit thick for the router. I may do a test on some scrap before attempting that!

    Rivets! man, i bet your forearms would have been jacked if you used a manual riveter

    I was expecting composite like on the pod trailer for insulation?

    • @Adv4x4
      @Adv4x4  3 місяці тому

      No sir! All aluminum. Will be powder coated once complete!
      Not to worried about insulation on this one.

    Quick question on an unrelated build. What flush cut router bit did you use on your micro camper build in your mini router? I have looked around where i am and i am going to have to order it. Dont want to get the wrong one.

    • @Adv4x4
      @Adv4x4  2 місяці тому +1

      Any barrel style bit with a bearing roller will work!

    Hi mate looking forward to seeing part 3 . I'm not sure if it's uploaded yet but I have a question about the roof and hinge system. Are you building an alaskan style camper roof? So the whole roof lifts up but the portion where the bed is (front head and 2 sides) are all on hinges that you lift and lock into place once the roof is at the correct point? I'm researching the alaskan style truck bed carpet as I intend to build one for my l200 crew cab

    • @Adv4x4
      @Adv4x4  2 місяці тому

      Hey Steve! Working on part 3 have been super busy with other things but it’s on the way! The whole roof will pop straight up!

      @steveyoung7463 Місяць тому

      Hi Buddy just watching it now, I see what you mean now with the lift (very hard for you to explain lol) I'm about to do a build for mine but its going to be so that I can work away in London 5 days a week with out paying London prices so looking to build an Alaskan style pop up and I can not find any designs even similar to that ( except a couple of wooden ones! But keep posting I'm learning a lot

    • @Adv4x4
      @Adv4x4  Місяць тому

      Thanks Steve! I although that hinge system I did works great, I have some concerns with the fabric fitting due to the “scissor” action.
      Stay tuned, I will be doing an updated video once I get more material on my hinge design!
      Should be much simpler to convey over video as well as understand how to do your own with basic math!

    Might want to look at doing a bit of debur on the holes before popping the rivets in. We do it in airplane builds to maintain the strength of the rivet connection. Might be an overkill for a camper, but throwing it out there as something to research a bit if you want.
