Lawn Lime Who Should Apply Lime on Their Lawn

Doc talks about applying lawn lime and who should apply it. It's critical that you get a soil test before you apply any lime. You only apply lawn lime if your PH is low. It's NOT something everyone does every fall.

Okay, the title of this video is totally WRONG: this video does NOT specify "who should apply lime on their lawn." It just doesn't. It talks about soil sampling and does a good job shilling for Green Shocker, but doesn't explain jack about lime application, or any special tips about it. So if you came here to learn about liming your lawn...you struck out. Sorry.

Thanks Doc I just did my yard aerated then put lime down the new top soil and sand mix 2 shovels of top soil 1 sand and mix up big wagon load and spread.

I live close enough to just drive my samples to the Clemson extension office. I love how I can drop in a sample on Friday afternoon and have my results in my email on Tuesday.
I can only imagine how to drop them off on a Monday morning. I probably still would have had my results Tuesday or Wednesday.

I just tested. My PH is 4.2. It is frighteningly low. I just put down 60 pounds of fast acting lime on 2800 square feet.

Thanks Doc. Would a shorter soil tester be Okay? Such as the 21" tester. Or do the smaller ones bend in clay soil.
Why do you use such a long length tester? Is it thicker at the bow, and so it does not bend in clay soil?

Doc, when you were probing the lawn for a soil test, I noticed you took it from all over the yard.
Would that give me a overall average of the lawn. My question is, Do I need to do individual areas if my yard is hardish in some area, soft in another?

With a larger lawn, yes. You might want to break it up. This one is too small.

Doc, have put down the Green Shocker just over a week ago which was a couple of weeks after Anderson's 10-10-10. What's your feeling on a high nitrogen fertilizer like Urea or a 21-0-0 quick release?
