- Hi everyone,
This week I'm sharing inspiration for blouses. This is due in part to the #sewaprilblouse24 being run by @clothedit and @theyorkshiresewgirl. Please head over to their channels to see all the t&c of the challenge over on Instagram.
The blouse patterns I have chosen to inspire you are:
The Be Mine blouse by @PatternEmporium
The Bellini blouse by @MaisonFauve
The Hannah blouse by @atelierjupe
The Zenith blouse by @MaisonFauve
The blouse by @theavidseamstress7604
I can't wait to see what you make. Which blouse is your favourite? let me know in the comments.
I would love it if you'd like, comment and subscribe please.
I also have a Ko-fi account where you can support me by buying me a Ko-fi, this is much appreciated:

Your blouses are stunning! Fabric choices are sew, sew classy!
Thank you so much that's very kind of you
Omgosh the blouse that you're wearing is gorgeous
Thank you so much, it's lovely to hear from you
First video of yours I have watched.....(I know where have I been 🤔🤔🤔). Anyhow I LOVE every single one of your blouses made and on the list to be made. Fabulous options, gorgeous classy fabrics. Thank you, great content and options. Off to watch more of you now. 🤣😜
Yay thank you, how lovely to hear from you and have you here!
New to your channel. I’m from Colorado in the USA. Love your fabrics and your terminology. Thank you
Wow Colorado that's just amazing! How lovely to have you here
I like all of these! I also don’t like puffy sleeves, and I like a v-neck or deep scoop neck. Flattering for a busty figure.
Thank you, glad you like them great to hear from you, lovely to have you here
Love all of the blouses you talked about & will probably try the first two you spoke about - Be Mine & Bellini patterns. Thank you inspirational video.😊
Thank you, such wonderful patterns!
I live all your blouses! ❤ The black flower broiderie anglais would be lovely also as a skirt with a sheer white underlay that would show the holes of the flowers beautifully.
Ooo yes that’s a beautiful idea!
Thank you so much for getting involved Cara! Some stunning blouses 🤩
Thank you Ruan, it's a great challenge
Totally agree re Pattern Emporium patterns, I have about 10 of them, and have sewn several, love them. Also, the instructions are extremely detailed.
Aren’t they just the best! So lovely to hear from you thank you
I love the last one because I personally can’t stand anything that’s tight or fitted as I’ve gotten older. Very cute pattern - I may make that one. It’s kind of hippie looking which I love. Hope I can find it in the states
I hope you can find it too! Blows my mind that you're in America, that's lovely
I love the Avid Seamstress blouse as well but also very tempted by the Maison Fauve Zenith pattern made in a cream/white fabric. All very inspiring!
Thank you
Thank you,❤️
Lovely blouses!
I have also faked buttonholes before, most of the time I can get away with it. When a garment is almost done, I am either to eager to wear it or afraid to ruin it by messing up the buttonholes!
I'm totally the same! 😁
About 50 years ago I had a sewing machine that could chew up buttonholes. I used to sew on buttons then put snaps behind them so I didn’t ruin them. I bought a new Viking sewing machine, but for a month I didn’t make any buttonholes because I was thrilled with my machine and didn’t want to be disappointed. Finally, my husband, who didn’t sew at all, said this is ridiculous and followed the directions o make several perfect buttonholes. No disappointment at all!
@@kathygann7632 that's wonderful
@@kathygann7632 my viking has been temperamental and I put it in time out for a while. I have been using and old Singer. But I have a new dress that needs 11 buttonholes, so I will give the Viking a chance to redeem itself.
@@downtoearthsewing. I gave up and bought a Babylock Presta. Wow! I also bought a Babylock Victory and absolutely love that serger
Love your Be Mine top and the fabric you made it with. GORGEOUS!!!!!!!! 🥰 The pattern is now on my list to be purchased at a later date. Thanks!
Ah that's great to hear, it's an amazing blouse, enjoy!
Gorgeous blouses - I love the cream broderie anglaise 😍.
Thank you so much, I'm really enjoying wearing it too
Hello from Seattle, WA., USA and thank you so much for decreasing my fear of making blouses! You are a natural for You Tube. Looking forward to more videos. I love the Bellini blouse.
Sandy
Thank you so much Sandy, how wonderful to hear from you! I'm so glad you enjoyed my video. Looking forward to showing you more
Great inspiration as always 😍. Love the under the sea fabric xx
Thank you, I really appreciate that
They are all beautiful, but the Hannah is my favorite. The colors look so good on you.
Ooo thank you, it was the first time I wore it, I love it too!
Adore that Hannah Blouse on you, the colours look great 😊
Thank you Nicky I really appreciate that
Hello from Tennessee. Thank you for sharing. I love all the beautiful blouses! My favorite is the Bellini!❤️
Wow Tennessee that’s incredible! How lovely to hear from you x
I don't think I could pick a favorite - they're all wonderful patterns and the fabrics you chose are lovely for each one. Your obvious delight with each one makes this video a real pleasure to watch as well. I'm across the world in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S. - thanks for sharing what you have made!
Who thank you! How lovely to hear from you, that's amazing that you are in Philadelphia 😊 thank you for watching how lovely to have you here
Lovely blouses Cara. I made the Hannah blouse last week, I should have sized down, so will next time. It does mean tracing it out again 👎🏻 not my favourite thing either. I made the same sleeves as you but chopped off the gathered bit as I wasn’t in love with the look on me. I much prefer the plain short sleeve I was left with. That’s the best bit, we can pick and choose what we like! The instructions were confusing, especially the front yolk but after a bit of head scratching I figured it out.
As always your sewing looks impeccable - brilliant makes ❤
Thank you so much Sue, I may yet alter the sleeves, but I'm going to wear it and see, I'm with you on the instructions, super weird! Lovely to hear from you, thank you for your lovely words
I have that last blouse pattern but was avoiding making it because of the buttonholes😅. I love your alternative idea, will definitely give it a go myself now. 😂
Lol I'm so glad I shared my alternative with you! It's a lovely blouse, I hope you get a chance to make it soon x
Lovely blouses!❤
Thank you! 😊
Lovely Blouses. I think it’s time I made one myself. Love your channel all the way from Australia
Oh wow, Australia, that's awesome. Thank you, I hope you get some sewing time soon x
Love a blouse too, yours are lovely, so much inspiration for me. Cheers from Sydney - lovely cool Autumn down under.❤
Wow Sydney, that blows my mind! How lovely to hear from you, thank you
Oh my, all the blouses are gorgeous, colorwise 'The Blouse' is so striking, I love the color, but so difficult to choose a favorite.
Thank you for your SewAprilBlouse24 inspiration. ❤
Thank you so much, lovely to hear from you, will you get a chance to make a blouse?
I love the beautiful fabrics you have chosen.
Thank you so much that's very kind of you
A lovely selection of blouse patterns they are all inspiring for the sew a blouse April. Beautiful choices of fabric for each of your blouses you have sewn and shared. Having seen your Beautiful Maison Fauve blouse in real life I know how beautiful it is along with the fabric. Cara you are so right about cream it is a great stable colour all year round. Thank you Cara for a great Vlog. You have inspired another Maison Fauve Cicadella blouse 😊
Thank you, it's lovely to hear from you, I need to make the cicadella it's utterly beautiful ❤️
@@sosewmad you must it is a joy to make and beautiful 😊
@@Sewingbearclare I'll add it to my endless list 😅
Great collection of blouses! I'm interested in all of them. Can't' wait to sew!
Thank you so much, glad I’ve inspired you, lovely to have you here
Hi Cara. Just found your channel and subscribed. I love sewing but have lost the last fabric and pattern shop near to me so your channel popped up at the right time. I am going back through your play list now and love seeing the patterns made up. I am always unsure when they are on the bolt. Sorry to hear about your dog. We lost our little one two years ago and now just have the one. Now off to watch some more of your videos.
Ah that's so lovely of you! Great to have you here, sorry to hear your fabric shop has closed, I hope you can find an alternative, nothing like a rummage in fabric 😅, stay in touch, I'm always happy to answer questions etc
Hello from Florida. I love the Bellini. So casually elegant in tha fabric. You inspire me to get sewing!
Yay thank you! Wow how's Florida, that sounds so exciting 💞
Lots of beautiful blouses and fabrics. It’s hard to pick. The first one is particularly lovely and the last one as well. ❤
Thank you so much, it's lovely to hear from you
Hello again from Atlanta. Wow! The blouses are all just beautiful! ❤️
Gosh Atlanta, wow! Thank you it's amazing to hear from you, love it!
Great video Cara. Love all of those blouses.
Thank you so much, lovely to hear from you
Thanks for all the ideas! I am going to try and jump into this challenge this month.
Go for it! There's lots of amazing ideas
You have paired beautiful fabrics with lovely blouse pattern choices. Thanks as always for thew inspiration.
That's very kind, thank you
Thank you so much Cara, you look so pretty in your Bellini blouse 🐚🐚🐚
Thank you x
I love the last one with the collar. They’re all very nice!
Thank you so much lovely to hear from you 💓
Beautiful fabric choices paired with the patterns. That’s a skill all its own if you ask me. I have made something up and loved it, made it again in a different fabric and had a total fail. I’m a big fan of a white blouse/shirt/tee.
Thank you Jan, I'm late to the white blouse clan 😅 but loving it!
Such gorgoeus blouses Cara!!! The blue and green is spectacular on you x
Thank you so much Rachel it's been great fun to film and see the responses x
I can't wait to see your white glittery blouse that you explained!
Thank you, I'm very excited about it too!
That was a wonderful selection of blouses! I think I will be buying some patterns!
Go for it! I love them all x
Ohhh I love the idea of just sewing down the button placket when the blouse goes on over your head ! The blouse pattern is so cute and the fun pattern reminds me of some higher end retail stores that sell them seasonally. I also adore that you're using embroidered cottons right now - I am too but i haven't started sewing them up yet ! This is definitely inspiring me to get going!
Ah that's great! I'm so glad I gave inspired you
love your Hannah blouse! I, too found the instructions confusing and had to redraft the shoulder slope and re-do the instructions for the yokes, I made it completely differently. i stuck with it because it is lovely. the fabric on yours is glorious!
Thank you so much, I’m glad I’m not the only one who found it tricky!
Lovely. I love the last one the most but that is clearly because of that fun fabric!
Thank you it's a lot of fun x
I’m loving the material of your first blouse. What is the name of the pattern please?
Of the material I mean!
Great blouse choices! I am going to try a few to add to my wardrobe.
Go for it! They are all so wearable x
Your avid seamstress blouse is the nicest I’ve seen ❤ I have this pattern and you have inspired me to make it. Thanks x
That's very kind, enjoy! It's a great pattern
All the blouses are beautiful , lovely choice of fabrics.
I too bought the Sewing magazine simply because of the Hannah blouse ' free' pattern, but when I looked at the instructions I put it back in its
envelope !!!! I'm hoping that there will be a sew along soon on UA-cam , but until then I'll simply admire yours😃
Lol I nearly did the same! It's a bit confusing but worth it x
Very nice selection of patterns! I’ve made 2 Be Mine blouses and want to make a couple more! Your fabrics are absolutely beautiful!
Thank you, I adore the be mine top!
I made a Be Mine blouse a little while ago - I love it and I'm planning another. I love your versions
Thank you so much, it's an amazing blouse
Thank you so much for sharing. All your blouses are absolutely beautifully on you xx
That's very kind of you, lovely to hear from you
They are all lovely. ❤
Thank you so much
Happened across your channel. Happy, vibrant presentation! Thank you😁. Like all of your choices but the first one is It for me! Love!
Side note: my husband looked up a couple of minutes after you said and asked me "did she say chesticles?". Lol, I subscribed. Have a fabulous today! Steph
Yay welcome on board, yup chesticles it is 😅 glad I made you both smile, lovely to have you here
Gosh I love your last make, that fabric is so gorgeous ❤
Thank you Emma I really appreciate that, I hope you're keeping well
the material is beautiful
Thank you so much
Thank you for the inspiration. So many lovely patterns to add to the list
Sorry about that 😅, my list is neverending if that helps ❤️
Well this is a great list of beautiful blouses. I have some of those patterns unmade as yet so will take a look. I certainly have the zenith and the blouse. Thanks
Thank you Jan, I really appreciate your support, hopefully you'll get a chance to make some of them soon x
Beautiful blouses but in particular I love love love the maison fauve bellini blouse - so much so that I have sent for the pattern and already know which fabric I am going to use. So looking forward to trying out my first maison fauve pattern! Thanks for all your lovely videos Cara!
Ah that's fantastic! Honestly you won't look back, it's such a beautiful blouse, so many options!
Loved all the blouses.
The colours in the last look lovely on you.
Thank you for sharing.
Hx 💕🧶🧵🇬🇧
You are welcome! Thank you for being here 💞
I love the BeMine blouse and have just downloaded the pattern so thank you. I've just discovered we live in the same county!
Ah how exciting! It's such a lovely top, glad you like it, enjoy
I've nearly finished my first Be mine top which I'm completing in a draper viscose that I purchased last year in Turkiye. I have also got the Andi set cut out and I've cut the pattern out for the shoreline top by Pattern Emporium and I will cut the fabric out tomorrow and get them all sewn up over the next week . Love all the fabric you shown ❤
Your plans sound fantastic! I need to look up the Andi set, I'm intrigued, lovely to hear from you thank you
Hi Cara, love all the blouses you’ve made. Can’t wait to see what others you make. My favorite is the Bellini. ❤
Thank you, how are you? I hope you're keeping well x
Beautiful blouses Cara, they all look amazing. The Be Mine blouse is my favourite but I love all of them, spoilt for choice. Thank you for sharing. ❤❤
Thank you so much, that's lovely to hear 😊
The Be Mine blouse is beautiful. I've made 2 so far.
Love your creativity!
Thank you so much
Your blouses are gorgeous! I really enjoyed seeing your makes. So inspiring, great job!
Thank you so much that's very kind of you
Loved them all
Thank you so much, it’s lovely to hear from you
What beautiful fabrics Cara. Very inspiring vlog.
That's very kind of you, I really appreciate it
Thank you very much
Hi from Colorado. I just found your channel. You are lovely! I love all of the blouses.
Wow hi from Colorado! How lovely to hear from you, thank you
Thank you for so many lovely ideas.
That’s very kind thank you
@@sosewmadHi Cara, thank you from me, too. Can i ask you what model of overlocker you have, and how do you find it? I keep being led by most stores to buy expensive, which is a bit much for me. They tell me those Brother's are not for much use and are very loud and clunky (not good for the neighbours). A lot of people buy them, though. I just don't want to waste my money and wish I'd splashed out a bit more. I'm umming and ahing, sendiing myself up the pole reviewing and reviewing, haha. Would appreciate if you can. And please be honest if you think it would be better to spend more... that's no problem at all. I have the same sewing machine as you, funny enough. Thanks for such informative and enjoyable videos!
Hi I have the basic 3040d I think it’s called, it’s quite noisy but I use it all the time with no issues at all. If I could I would buy the airthread baby lock aspire as it’s quiet and amazing! But my car cost less than this, so I have to keep things in perspective 😅
absolutely stunning makes and inspiration thank you! Love the Bellini, so chic!!! 😍
Thank you Sarah, hope you're having a lovely holiday
These are lovely. Thank you for the pattern inspo.
No problem, lovely to have you here x
Love you pattern and fabric choices.
Thank you Christine
Thanks Cara - beautiful makes! ❤
Thank you so much
All lovely Cara but I adore the Be Mine top best I think 👌💖😁😘
Thank you Sally I hope you're well
I love the last one. I like the way yours looks rather than the picture. I like the way the collar stands up. Is that material still available. I'm a beginner but would love to make it.
It's a great beginner pattern, go for it! Sadly I'm not sure if the fabric is still available, but it's worth a search for it. Thank you so much for being here
My favourite is 'the blouse'! I plan to make it - avidly! I love that under sea fabric, Cara. What a shame you don't recommend it for this blouse but that's helpful advice 😕
Hi thank you for your kind words, the fabric is fine but I personally prefer a more drapey fabric as it wears more comfortably, genuinely it's a lovely fabric, easy to sew with
Perfect timing! I just printed my pattern of the "Very wide blouse" from Sistermag Patterns. I just fall in love with it! I'm going to make it in hot pink viscose fabric, perfect for summer!
Ooo thank you I'd not heard of them before, that looks amazing, as you say, perfect timing!
@@sosewmad I also found them recently but I already have a eye on few things 😃
@@kasienkabesz me too!
So agree about Atelier Jupe patterns. Was not happy when even a dress pattern bought at full price had to be traced…. Actually in the end just got the pdf version, anything is better than tracing. To be fair the on line shop had explained that tracing would be required… people who read always have an advantage in life!😳
Lol I know exactly what you mean! I hate tracing too, life is too short 😂
The Avid Seamstress blouse is my favourite. Never seen you before, don't know how I've missed you! Have now subscribed. Enjoyed this video, look forward to watching more.
Thank you so much, it’s lovely to hear from you, great to have you here
Lovely makes. You look fabulous in them, Cara😅
Thank you so much Anne
I think they were all very pretty, too hard to pick a fave. I just found your channel during all the stitch festival vlogs on YT. Altho I am a quilter, not a fashion sewist, I do enjoy fashion and would like to sew my own clothes. So, I subscribed to your channel and a few others to pick up tips and tricks. Look forward to seeing all your makes.
Ah that's lovely, great to have you here, welcome on board, I wish I could quilt, I think the designs are sensation x
All beautiful blouses!❤
Thank you so much
Atelier Jupe patterns are like that. I'm like you, I dislike tracing intensely. They have improved, in that they now include seam allowances, which they didn't used to. I can't say that I'm a fan of Atelier Jupe patterns, although I do like many of their designs.
What a great collection of blouses, lovely fabrics, too. It's impossible to choose a favourite, because they are all gorgeous.
Thank you so much, you're right it's hugely frustrating to have to trace, I love their designs but have been put off by their instructions I'm afraid! I'm glad I carried on, I do love the blouse, thank you for your lovely words
Lovely blouses. ❤
Thank you Eileen x
Hi Cara! I'm new to your channel and live in upstate (north western part of) New York. I saw you on the recent Sewing Tips video so I came over to see what you're all about. I really like your Bellini Blouse and your sewing is just beautiful. I just bought the Daiquiri Dress from Maison Fauvre but seeing your blouse, I'm now thinking I should have gotten the Bellini as well! Thanks for the blouse suggestions!
Oh wow that's so wonderful! Thank you for seeking me out and letting me know ❤️ you won't be disappointed with any purchases from MF, honestly they are amazing, enjoy, and go for it!
All lovely blouses!
Thank you so much it's lovely to hear from you
Lovely blouses Cara. I’ve just added the Hanna Blouse to my wish list 🧡
Hi Julie it's a great pattern, instructions are odd, but you'll be fine, I hope you're keeping well x
Hello and a big hug from the Chicago area! I just discovered your channel about an hour ago, and I think we are cut from the same fabric, lol. I also am interested in finding a good blouse pattern, I love the 5 you've shown us. I also so love the fabrics, especially the ones you used in the first one, and the Hannah Blouse. (I love the beiges and blue is my favorite) Can you please repeat where you got the blue print fabric from? I couldn't get it clearly. I have subscribed, and look forward to watching and listening to more of you. You also got me ( and I'm sure many others) with the 'replace buttonholes with stitches' idea! Thank you :) Love your enthusiastic and endearing personality!
Gosh thank you so much, it's absolutely lovely to hear from you! Big hugs from east Sussex to you ❤️ the fabric is from Dot to Dot studio in East Hoathley I'm not certain if they still have it, but they do have a website. Can't believe you are in Chicago that blows my mind!
First time watching your channel. Really enjoyed it. I'm in Australia and have the Bellini Blouse in my basket at Dahlia Sewsociety. I'm inspired by your video to go ahead and purchase it. I also LOVE the Be Mine blouse and have already made 2. Thank you.
Hi how lovely to hear from you! Welcome on board, the Bellini blouse is so beautiful and so many options!
Hi Cara, I like all your blouses but think my favourite is the Be mine blouse. I’m thinking of trying to enter this challenge(/don’t hold your breath though) as I’m preparing for sewing retreat and have gifts to make for my little granddaughters. I have just bought the Roscoe blouse by true bias after seeing Lucy at sew essentials version. It has a similar look to the Hannah blouse you made. My other option is the Pussy bow blouse that I bought in a kit a while ago from soi. I enjoyed your video so thank you. Happy blouse wearing! 😊
Thank you so much, I could have included the Roscoe, I have the pattern but not made it yet, I also adore the pussy pow blouse, great choices. I hope you get a chance to enter x
I like your tops ❤
Thank you so much I really appreciate that
The blouse going for pattern now x
That's great, it's a lovely pattern, enjoy!
love the last blouse you had on at the end, all the other ones were lovely but if I were wearing them I am too short and short waisted to wear big sleeves and full blousy garments. Barb
Hi so lovely to hear from you and that you are inspired by one of the options, that's lovely to hear
I love your choices of fabrics and patterns.
Not so many people have good taste but you do.
I enjoyed this video until the end.
By the way, do you wash viscose garments by hand? Is viscose easy to care?
Happy sewing🧵
Ah that’s so lovely of you. I don’t wash anything by hand, I dry line my clothes. It’s really nice to have you here x
Sorry to be a pain but it was the Be Mine Blouse material I was interested in. 🥰
No worries I brought it from Dot to Dot studio, I hope they have some left,
Hi Cara, I absolutely love the Hannah blouse on you, those colours 💙💚😻
Also love The Blouse at the end of your video. The fabric is beautiful 😍
Thank you, are you taking part?
@@sosewmad Yes, all being well I am planning on making the Wren blouse by Chalk & Notch 😀
@@lovesredsews I look forward to seeing that
I was so excited to find this video this morning! I am looking for a blouse/shirt pattern and just bought some fabric while on a trip to Finland! My communication skills were not the best and I ended up with a wonderfully drapey linen and some not at all drapey cotton print. So now I am on a hunt for a blouse that I can be happy with in a non-drapey fabric. I thought I had understood the saleslady to mean that the fabric would be good for a blouse and that is what she measured me for for the amount. But now that I am home and have washed the fabric, I find that it is still quite, well, not really stiff, but not soft either. So perhaps The Blouse would work... Or do you have another idea?
Hi, your trip sounds amazing! I wonder about washing the fabric again, sometimes fabric gets softer with each wash like a linen or wax cotton. The anthea blouse by Anna Allen is great in a stiffer fabric as it holds the shape beautifully, enjoy!
Thanks for sharing Cara, 💙🧶🌈🍓
Thanks Jenny
Hard to choose a favourite possibly the zenith but all lovely
It's a tricky choice isn't it! Can't wait to make it
Love your work!
Thank you so much, love you being here!
