    As a long time healer main I absolutely hate the state of current healing. The wild swing between feeling almost overwhelmed in pug groups to running with a competent group and feeling useless is horrible. I very much dislike being seen as dps that throws out heals. If I wanted to dps, I would play on a dps class. I play as a healer to heal.

      That’s why I started learning holy priest. I don’t have to worry about dmg anymore. I’ve been thinking about learning resto shaman. Do they have to do much dmg?

      @RpGirlRizo I get your point. I like pushing some dps as a healer just to spice up the play style a bit but if it's mandatory and the key depends on it - hard pass!
      @@Nick-fb9nt Resto shaman doesn't have to do damage to heal so in that regard, you can try it out for sure! If you decide that you want to do damage though, you'll have to stop healing and start casting damaging spells which could be a bit challenging if you decide to go down that route. If you are interested only in the healing part though - it's quite nice and similar to holy priest

      I also think about going for Holy Pal the next xpac. I never played it, eventho I played Heal for many years now. Maybe its time to try it out, also it seems to be in a good state as of the Beta tests.

      @@TheDivisionHUB Hpal was amazing after the rework in 10.1.5 but they nerfed it to the ground after that and it feels terrible in S4. However, the hero talents and latest changes seems to salvage the situation a little bit. Keep in mind that it's melee healer and you have to use damaging abilities to generate and maintain extra resource (holy power). If that sounds fine to you, then definitely give it a shot :)

      @@thelegendbehindthecow yeah I mean actually its the same situation for Resto Druid as it seems cat weaving is still much better than keeper of the grove (if it is called like that) and also for MW monks. At least with warbands it is not that terrible if you switch between chars at some point anymore. ;-)

    Reduce or eliminate leach, avoidance, and DPS self sustain for group content only, leave it as is for open world.
    Also incorporate more rot or consistent damage profiles for encounters. Similar to the ice lady in HoI or the last boss in plaque fall.

    • @thelegendbehindthecow
      @thelegendbehindthecow  3 місяці тому +1

      Yep, agree! Let people have as many defensives in the open world as they want (if someone is playing out there :P ) but clean it up in M+ :)

    Are there really keys done without healer? Most druids start as balance to do first pull but respec for the rest to resto… or do I miss something?

    • @thelegendbehindthecow
      @thelegendbehindthecow  3 місяці тому

      At the highest possible level they do switch throughout the dungeon but there were some pretty high keys timed without a healer at all! In S3 there were a lot of 24-25 and I think even 26s done solely without a healer. I haven't been paying too much attention to that in S4 since nobody is playing but they enforced a rule in TGP to specifically have a healer in the group so that speaks volumes :)

      Yeah thats tragic and should not be possible.

    In my opinion, Healing is the one role that’s truly tied to cooperative play. It doesn’t work well unless you have other people to heal. And reflecting on wow evolution over the past few expansions it’s clear that individual player self sustainability has increased, I suspect because it makes it easier for players to engage with the virtual world. The downside is there’s less need for healers and it’s no longer just open world. It’s now bleeding into raids and mythic dungeons.
    I think the path forward is split into three options
    Option one- returning to an older wow iteration where DPS and tank classes have little to no healing abilities, increasing the need for healers.
    Option two- move forward with the current direction which has heelers taking on a pseudo DPS role. However, there’s a significant portion of the healing community, myself included, that do not like this option.
    Option three - creating a healing support class where healers shift between healing and providing buffs and other utility to the group. An example of this is the augmentation Evoker class. While I think that this is the best way forward if we’re looking to sustain the healing role it’s also one that will Require a great deal of balancing and attention if the augmentation evoke is any thing to go by

      Option one for me please!
      Personal opinion but I don't like aug evokers. The play style is quite boring for me as you are neither doing a lot of damage nor moving health bars through healing. And the fact that your impact is hidden, even in the damage meters, allows for some really bad players to sneak into higher keys and noone even knows.. may be biased a bit but that class did more harm to the game than good :(

    I will say that if you want to heal the tank go play classic.
    For me the worst think when playing as a tank is to hope my healer is capable of healing me when I am doing a big pull.
    The same goes for healer, healing a tank is just boring spamming all heals on single target.
    With that said I would say they need to reduce the defensives for dps classes which hopefully let's them tune the damage to allow for different healing profiles to be there.
    Addtionally I would say in modern wow healer is more of a support class which does healing, damage and deals with cc and mechanics.
    I would much prefer a role of a healer that is present in the overwatch (more of a support that flash-heal spam bot).
    In most RPG's classes that heal offer wide range of tools to help the group not only by providing raw output.
    I think this is the more the devs move away from classic heal design towards support class for healers it will help by reducing the other classes bloat.

      Interesting take, especially for me who only plays WoW.
      I've been there and played classic so now I want to be in retail and play the new content. Classic is the reason everything started though as the healer role was unique back in the day. Nowadays there are a lot of options, even in WoW with aug evoker supporting but I tried that and I don't like that play style. That said, current healing playstyle is not enjoyable either so just looking for ways to make it fun and engaging again. And if someone wants to play support, they have options to do so now :)

    Mage barrier should be nerfed simply because it is literally the strongest group % damage reduction in 5man content

    • @thelegendbehindthecow
      @thelegendbehindthecow  3 місяці тому

      I mean, nerf is an option but why is the mage of all classes saving the whole group with a defensive? It doesn't make any sense to me although I've heard that mages are now healing in SoD so I guess the world is in quite a weird place :)

    Nah. I like my defensives as tank and dps. Its also nice to know that it's not 100% my responsibility to manage health bars when I play healer.

    • @thelegendbehindthecow
      @thelegendbehindthecow  3 місяці тому

      It's nice to know that but it doesn't help you feeling useless when you have to heal through damage that was supposed to be mitigated but people just didn't press their buttons :(

    Hybridhealing should just be removed! It makes some classes not wanted!

    • @thelegendbehindthecow
      @thelegendbehindthecow  3 місяці тому

      That too! I didn't talk about this but having so many tools also brings inequality as simply some classes/specs have more than others (that includes off-healing, hybrid healing, etc). Making everyone the same in this department would be more beneficial (and yes may be boring) than what we have now

      Could be a good idea, but it would have to be extensively tested. Cant be something done overnight. Or within the break between seasons.

    IMO healing should be healing.
    Not healing dealing damage cooking some food in between and taking the dog out.
    It should simply be limited to the intention of the role healer.

      @thelegendbehindthecow  3 місяці тому

      @TheDivisionHUB 3 місяці тому +2

      @@thelegendbehindthecow clearly not, right. I mean we will never it’s clear I guess.But I think the M+ push meta kills the original way how classes were designed.
      They would have to nerf a lot less if not all would be focused on high end progress of a hand full of “pro” players.
      It is just what I think and i really not like the direction this all evolves already since Legion.
      Edit: nothing against you our your content I really like your channel you do a good job 👍

      @@TheDivisionHUB I definitely agree that Blizzard's push to cater to the e-sport players is what is leading to such a decline in the game. Especially in how they balance and design for classes these days. I understand that people have limited time and want to have challenging smaller group content, but M+ and those it attracts are outright ruining the game, imo.
