This video should have begun with an introduction, telling us what this orb is. As it was, we have pieces of information scattered throughout the video that we need to somehow integrate to determine what the heck they are talking about. At this point, I still have very little idea. It seems to be a way of identifying people and it has something to do with the blockchain and it may have a lot of potential - for something. That's it. Maybe I missed part one I guess.
This is the story BEHIND the orb - which would of course assume you already know something about it. You wouldn't read a book about the secrets behind advanced architectural engineering - if you didn't know about basic engineering. Actually YOU probably would - then whine about it.
@@s3_build Great video. I already understand what this is, but I could agree with TropicalCoder too, it could be helpful to explain how it would be used as a way to buy things/access things.....and if you knew (which I imagine you didn't) the dark side, you could ask about what happens if the government that controls it decides to erase your bank account/access (as happened with the Freedom Trucker protest in Canada). (For anyone who cares to know I will never be a part of a social credit system like this. The CCP and Canada showed me more than I cared to know about how terrifying it is in the hands of a government.)
A quick summary of what it is and how it works: In the future, we may need ways to verify our human identity as opposed to an AI. World scans your iris, as it’s unique to you, and uses data from this scan to create a code that confirms you’re a verified human. This code serves as a lifelong verification of your identity, recorded on the blockchain indefinitely. Their proposed solution tackles the potential future challenge of human verification. By having a cryptographically secure identity token, a verified human can prove their identity as non-AI. Supposedly the token is completely private and contains no identifiable information.
They will make a use for it that is super appealing and people will allow them to scan their eye once they have it who knows how it will be used. This just seems awfully dystopian to me.
You do realise that people already posts most of their life online no? This tech is a tackling bigger problems than you luddites being scared of 'privacy'
And don't worry, Orb will be useless because giant tech companies will create their own centralized authentication solution, likely relying on less constraining solutions such as fingerprints.

The problem of identification was always inevitable. Same with AI. So the guns and bullets were always in our future, same with the bandages. Sam just happens to be in the right time and place to profit for it and be in the middle of it all.
@ I’m not arguing against progress, but it just feels funny. In fact I was thinking about this after watching and I did actually think about some ways that this becomes a boon not a burden.
As with all blockchain projects, this could be done without blockchain. Crypto is always shoe horned in for no reason. Sure they made a device that is meant to be better then the existing camera verification services (like the ones that get you to record yourself saying a specific phrase to verify you) but the blockchain part is unnecessary. It should just be verify you are a real person with the device and enter a password.
Why is it unnecessary? Are you an engineer that will tell us a better solution? Go learn, it's free: Trustless Verification: Blockchain provides a public, trustless way to verify uniqueness without a central authority. If Worldcoin used just a device + password setup, you’d need a central server to confirm identities and prevent duplicates-something blockchain avoids. Global Access and Decentralization: Blockchain allows Worldcoin to offer the same system to anyone, anywhere, without relying on governments or institutions to maintain the integrity of the data. Auditability: A blockchain means anyone can audit the distribution and integrity of Worldcoin IDs, ensuring transparency. This is critical for building trust in any digital ID or UBI distribution.
This started as a project to create crypto with UBI built into the algorithm. Unique user verification is necessary so people don't spoof endless wallets. Other UBI crypto projects are trying different methods, such as social proof circles. eg Circles UBI and Proof of Humanity. It's not shoe-horned in. Creating a decentralized currency is key to the goals.
The whole point is that it has to be decentralized trustless and permission less and crypto just so happens to do this the best way all while keeping a historical record that is once again decentralized, trustless and permissionless
@@mylesvmiles7571 It really doesn't all of these decentalised systems just need to produce a hash and let anyone do what they want with it. Let each company take that hash/password generated and do their own thing, they don't need to go to a system to look it up.
But what if they are against it because they don't want to replaced by a larger stronger "One World Government"....so you give them your soul and they erase you. This is exactly what Gates/soros/Larry Fink and the other anti-humans want.
Maybe you are joking but this is quite a simplistic way of viewing the world and especially the role of government. I understand your sentiment but not every measure or stance a government (of which the degree of trustworthiness across the world is huge it's kinda stupid to just lump them all in together) takes is self-interested and autocratic. If Monstano said tomorrow "we're launching a new highly experimental chemical" and your government blocked it saying "we have safety concerns over the contents of this new chemical", would you go out and buy it anyway because "the government is against it"? I get the whole distrust in government and a healthy dose of scepticism is necessary when dealing with government but I think I'd be more inclined to believe a truly equitable democratically elected government than a large mega corp or foreign billionaire. Not every government has a track record like the USA governments do for example.

This reminds me to the serie "Silicon Valley" but in this case, it won't be a treat for human safety.
So he’s trying to sell bandages to fix the wounds from the bullets he makes
The problem of identification was always inevitable. Same with AI. So the guns and bullets were always in our future, same with the bandages. Sam just happens to be in the right time and place to profit for it and be in the middle of it all.
@ I’m not arguing against progress, but it just feels funny. In fact I was thinking about this after watching and I did actually think about some ways that this becomes a boon not a burden.
😂 My thoughts exactly. It seems, to put it nicely, a bit unusual of an approach to be developing the problem and the solution at the same time.
Go learn, it's free:
Trustless Verification: Blockchain provides a public, trustless way to verify uniqueness without a central authority.
Give directly does UBI and didn't need crypto or retinal scans
The whole point is that it has to be decentralized trustless and permission less and crypto just so happens to do this the best way all while keeping a historical record that is once again decentralized, trustless and permissionless
@@mylesvmiles7571 It really doesn't all of these decentalised systems just need to produce a hash and let anyone do what they want with it. Let each company take that hash/password generated and do their own thing, they don't need to go to a system to look it up.
When will ORB centers be available in Pakistan?
Hello 👋 Sam sir you are the greatest man and Good job thank 🙏 so much 🙏 Sir 🙏 I'm from India

those in power will retain their privacy.. as well those designers...
If governments are going to be against this, then I’m in. If they are for, then it’s not as anonymous as they say it is.
This is crazy how did you get an interview with altman

It’s like they are just trying to make the mark of the beast at this point
I still don't see the hype on this. I don't see the valuation as real, without Sam, I'm not sure they'd get any headlines.
