Ive heard just the opposite, that it sounds soft and buttery like the older iFi gear?

This is why it’s important to get your own ears on things… I am only talking on my experiences, with my chains and environment, so many factors go into audio enjoyment.
This is why I think everyone should only take mine and every other video on this stuff with a grain of salt and use it as a potential reference not the end all be all on deciding on a product or what have you.
What is your audio chain? (Headphones, source etc?) curious to hear more about your experience with it

The thing that sold me on this are the variety of inputs. With one device I can skip connecting two separate devices for my TV and console audio. This makes it all in one package. I’ve had an IFI zen 2 for a few years and it’s been awesome in terms of build quality and sound quality, except it was missing optical in which is getting less common. On top of inputs it has the sound I like, as well as x bass haha

I'm really looking forward to your ZMF homage review, whenever that is.

Excellent review. Do you have any plans in the near future to review the newly released FiiO Q15 BT AKM portable Dac/amp..? Keep up the great content.

Looks like a solid All in One. The XBass has always been the draw to the iFi stuff for me. It's actually decent. No XLR HP input is shame though

Same! XBass and build quality has always drew me to ifi stuff as well! That and general ease of use and connectivity options

How does this compare to the RME ADI-2 DAC FS? Very appealing to me because it is not single out connector and I can drive/connect my monitors. Easy to transport between home and work and it can output to another amp. Not a big budget or space. Concern is I enjoy more of analog sound. Concerned that the form factor and features really lends to being to digital sounding.

It has a lot of filters to bring it inline with your listening preferences. I think it’s generally on par with the RME, but without all the pro features like the EQ etc. I think if you prefer “analog” this one can get close with the filters, but I’ve always felt like ifi leans more into the digital sound signature of things… if that makes sense.

How is the xbass on this diffrent if at all than the truebass offered on their lower priced dac/amp, the ifi zen dac v2?

I think it’s very similar…if not the same.
