    Thanks for the video. I was discouraged after 20 minutes was up and there were no bubbles but after 15 more minutes we started seeing bukoo bubbles. Just thought I'd mention that in case anyone else stopped at 20 minutes with no bubbles. Thanks again for the video!

    Sir, this video saved my butt big time!!! I had to change out a broken throttle inlet hose and I didn't know I had to do this.
    I switched out the house, then started the car and it started fine, but when I put in reverse my car stalled out. Then, it wouldn't start at all. I scoured UA-cam and came across this video. I followed your directions and my car started!!! And it works just fine now!!! So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you!!

    Yup that works like a charm. I see other UA-camrs open up the bleeder valve, but with that funnel you don't really have to.

    Had this done by the shop today, nice to see how it was done. I paid zero for it as they had done work on my rad a couple of months ago and I started having issues. They told me that sometimes it can take a while for the bubbles to show themselves in the system.

    Thank you! I've been looking for a good video on how to do it since the heater core has air bubbles (you will hear a water flow-like sound behind the dash after turning off the engine) and I have a Lancer, so this is the perfect one because idk where is the bleeder valve is haha. I'm definitely going to use that video to get that resolved.

    Just applied what was suggested by your video after having replaced cooling system parts due to overheating incident. System did not automatically kick the radiator fan until I got rid of the air in the coolant system. After that my car just functioned perfectly/normally. I have a feeling when air is in the system, temperature sensors can not sense actual temperature from the coolant because the line is partially void with air. Your video is very perfect for my needs at the time I was about to be hopeless fixing my car. Thank you very much. I wish more people will see your video.

    You're supposed to leave the fan off to the heater, but put it to hot plus you can squeeze that radiator hose all day long and you'll get it gurgling like that.

    When using a coolant bleeding funnel if I never stop seeing bubbles does that mean my head gasket is blown on the exhaust side?

    • @richardschofield2201
      @richardschofield2201 2 роки тому

      Yes.
      Although not sure why you mention exhaust side.
      Coolant channels run all around the combustion chamber so a leak on any side of the gasket between the combustion chamber and the water jacket will give you your symptoms.

  • @sthapitb
    @sthapitb 4 роки тому +2

    Thank you for this informative video.
    Just wanted to know if air bubbles/pockets could cause the heater to not blow hot air through the vents and if this coolant system burping/bleeding process would solve that problem too.
    there was a comment that it could take more than 20 mins for some. So is it advised to idle it for 30 mins instead?
    Lastly, the heater should be turned to max heat but a what about the fan speed? Low or high?
    Thank you

    One thing to note. There is no need to jack front of the car. Air bubbles tends to escape at highest point of coolant system. And of course, in this case it will be level of your coolant in spill free funnel. More engine works, it builds up heat so coolant level in spill free funnel just gets higher an helps bubbles to escape. Regards from Serbia

    Great direction. Simple and should be effective. I haven't bled the engine coolant yet. But I'm noticing that the motor (B18C) temp passes the halfway mark on the cluster gauge and the fan don't turn on (after 20 minutes on idle). Upper hose is HOT and bottom hose is still COLD. I recently did a swap (D16 to '97 B18C ITR on my 89 Honda Civic hatch Si). We installed new thermostat (dealer), aftermarket water pump, ECT sending unit, fan switch, radiator w/ cooling fan, and hoses. I don't know why the thermostat appears to be not opening. Got any ideas? Thanks.

      You have to much air in your system. Air creates empty space for the liquid to splash around. You just need to bleed the air out and add more coolant. Add the right amount and coolant to avoid future issues.

    I tried bleeding the coolant on my miata. I was waiting 10 minutes in and saw some weird fumes/smoke coming out from the trans tunnel and got spooked so I stopped lol. I was thinking that it might just be my new cat or the oil from the oil leak burning off.

    Hey man, having a little issue wondering if you could help.
    Dash is fluctuating a lot after thermostat and radiator change, never did this before. Was driving fine and anytime I gassed above 4k rpm I could visibly see the needle go up then as soon as I stopped gassing it went right back down. I’ve been trying to get any air out and still haven’t gotten it all out.

      I tried to use the no spill funnel that I bought and the adapters wouldn’t fit properly so when the engine was running coolant started coming out the cap they provided.

    How do I stop needing to burp to radiator? I don't want to do this every week this winter. This question is impossible to google because all results are instructions on how to burp.
