I think Kepa being on here is quite harsh for him. The circumstances surrounding his arrival are extremely against Chelsea - Courtois suddenly wanted to move to Real Madrid, a weird transfer deadline day that summer (10 August instead of 31 August - Kepa arrived only 2 days before that), and other Chelsea goalkeepers (a 36-year-old Caballero, a 38-year-old Robert Green, and an academy goalkeeper). Because of Courtois's departure, with very few available options on the market, they have to pay Bilbao's astronomical release clause to buy him. And now, despite his form under Tuchel, but with Mendy in goal, he will never be able to justify his price tag and wage.

Drinkwater for Leicester was incredible. His range of passing was insane. I can see why Chelsea bought him, but it's such a shame that he's ended up rotting on the bench. I'd happily take him at Wolves.
I'd have Bakayoko over Drinkwater personally. I suppose you could say the loan fees tallied for him overtime cut the losses better than Drinkwater, but my life he was SO BAD! I think people have (surprisingly...) missed the point of the video. Yeah Kepa has had a few good games recently. That doesn't take away from the fact he cost more than the likes of Alisson, was poor when he played, got displaced from the team after two seasons and will have around 50% sell-on value. Man Chelsea's summer 2017 transfer window was absolutely terrible, over 150 mill was wasted on Bakayoko, Morata, Zappacosta and Drinkwater. Then add to that losing Matic, Terry leaving and the farce that was Diego Costa's departure and it's even worse. They did get Rudiger for like 30 mill, so that was great, but the rest of it, my god, just abysmal.
Morata at least paid back somehow, financially. Torres flopped (45 goals for 50 mil) but his performances in the UCL 2012 and UEL 2013 can mask that. Bakayoko.... Oh dear... He forgot football after signing for Chelsea.
I worked at the Bridge 2017/18. I honestly don't understand how Chelsea managed to watch every game Baka played in. He never knew what he was going to do with a ball once he received it
SWP and kepa are harsh, both not great signings but actually contributed towards winning trophies, and kepa can still turn it around. Off the top of my head, £10m for Scott Parker, £18m for Yuri Zhirkov, £40m for Bakayoko and £50m for Fernando Torres are all contenders to replace them (torres mostly due to the price and that miss vs man United)
Drinkwater was outstanding in the title winning team at Leicester , he was also outstanding in the Champions League the following season , he and Kante were a fantastic double act , Drinkwater's passing was superb . At Chelsea he wasn't really given a run of games alongside Kante . 🦊🦊👍
There is an epidemic failure within the game to understand what is really happening. And this leads people who run Premier League football clubs to misjudge their players and mismanage their teams. People who run football teams think in terms of buying players. Your goal shouldn't be to buy players, your goal should be to buy wins. And in order to buy wins you need to buy goals. You're trying to replace Shaun Wright-Phillips. Chelsea football club sees Shaun Wright-Phillips and they see a star. When I see Shaun Wright-Phillips I see an imperfect understanding of where goals come from.
I think Sheva was wrongly used in Chelsea... They didn't use him according to his abilities, they made him play according their way and it didn't bring out the player they splash their cash on...
Sometimes I can't help but feel sad for Kepa. What he did was wrong but it's not something he should be persecuted for for the rest of his career. I can't imagine what it feels like to go through all the hardships of being a pro footballer, then it to go to shambles over one rush of adrenaline moment
I always assumed Drinkwater was signed to make up the minimum quota of home grown players for Premier League club, and knew he'd be warming the bench for the entire season, making the dd appearance here and there.

Mateja was producing the same numbers a young R9 was producing in that league so I mean it was definitely worth the punt lol. RVP had come over around that time to (I think 😅)
@@ILKILO1 RVP took a good 4 seasons to get going. There was always that ‘it’s the Dutch league…’
Kepas form has turned around under tuchel. Before last night he’s prevented +9.1 xg under tuchel
They paid over 70 million euros for kepa and he is the back the goalkeeper he is a flop
he's also pretty good at saving pk's
@@juandiaz221 he is a flop for sure he just seems too short tbh and he doesn't have the athleticism to make up for it, with that being said his price tag isn't really his fault we were forced to pay his release clause as Courtois forced our hand and our board like so many times before didn't prepare or scout well enough and overpaid for a keeper that was worth prob not even half the price we paid lol
Some of these entries are strange ones. Drinkwater, Zappacosta etc. never had a bad game for us, they were just unfashionable and didn’t fit into/couldn’t break into the system very well. Batshuayi is another one while Baba Rahman was incredibly unlucky with injuries.
Thus they were awful signings
@@ocajrsocajrs9010 all except for Batshuayi I agree. The man scored loads of important goals against us and his record against big teams is incredible. Just weird that they ended up as bad signings because they weren’t bad players.
@@solomonbrown2476 Well not all bad signings are bad players

when Kepa plays now, he’s really a top top goalkeeper, just way too big of a fee for an unproven player at the time
Exactly right
City paid big for Sterling. He turned out pretty alright
@@ColdHoops Yeah, he turned out alright. More than that, he's been to the summit of the English game. Kepa has time, just needs the game time.
Ah Mustafi... As an Arsenal fan I had just managed to block out the fact that we ever signed him until you bought him back up! 😂

Can you do a documentary on the afc Wimbledon on the nine promotions in eleven years, how they’re a fan own club and how they have a stadium in plough lane now.
The story of they lost the club, how the F A allowed that and won’t allow that anymore.
How they went up the English football leagues.
Drinkwater for Leicester was incredible. His range of passing was insane. I can see why Chelsea bought him, but it's such a shame that he's ended up rotting on the bench. I'd happily take him at Wolves.
Are you drunk?
he looked decent in Leciester because of Kante.
@@ksjaki9505 I'd like to see Kante make a long range pass like Drinkwater. Kante is a totally different player.
pleasee do us a favor and make wolves take him. Even for like 10m will do lol
Can't wait for the same video for Newcastle in five years!!
Can easily make a list now and that's without mega fees being paid
Damn it’s 1:00am over here in California never thought I’d catch one of your videos this early 😂. Love the videos 💯 🙌
"im not one too slag off players" lmaooo 30 seconds after throwing unecessary digs at Mustafi
I'd have Bakayoko over Drinkwater personally. I suppose you could say the loan fees tallied for him overtime cut the losses better than Drinkwater, but my life he was SO BAD! And like Drinkwater there should've been no illusions about what we were getting, he was clearly the weak link of that 16/17 Monaco team & everyone saw it except our scouts apparently.

Please do a video about the Portuguese 'club' , 'Belenenses SAD' , that recently went to a game with only 9 players against Benfica .Its a 'fake' club playing in the First League , but the 'Original' club had to start in the Non League Portuguese Football .
At least Chelsea have owners who make signings.
Ffs Spurs went a whole year without buying anyone, and we didn’t even have a transfer ban. And our recruitment had been dog arse. We actually paid money for Vincent Janssen and Ndombele
I feel your pain, my man. Things have been grim for the last 5 years, we only buy no name bargain bin players from the back woods of random leagues
I mean, it's a Jewish club. What did you expect? lmao
😂😂
I think the bigger point with Veron is that Chelsea had been able to see Veron's struggles in the PL with United and still chose to sign him
Based on talent he was one of the best midfielders in the world. Of course Chelsea thought they could make it work despite his failure at United.
They did the same thing by buying Falcao 😂
Chelsea’s worst 7 sales would be a good video. De Bruyne Lukaku Salah robben etc
Do one for Liverpool under FSG
For all the hype you would have to say Shevchenko who was a monster at AC Milan but it simply didn't work out for him at Chelsea.

At least Mutu was the best player in the league for a month.
Veron never did anything.
Kezman seemed worse too.
Abramovich's worst signing was Michael Emenalo as Technical Director (Notice him popping up in the photos).
Good luck Newcastle.
Emenalo signed Michael Hector.

alfie switching up the outro i see it boss
Who else didn't expect to hear Mustafi's name in this video?
Adrian Mutu was an absolute killer signing on FM (or CM as it probably was) when he was still at Parma.
I think it's kind of tragic what happened to him. Yes, he shouldn't have been doing coke, but the damages he had to pay were beyond anything I can remember from any football scandal. As an example, Juve were fined €75,000 for the match fixing that got them relegated and stripped of titles. Which Mutu was also there for, by coincidence
While those were some Chelsea flops maybe this video idea wont be.
Day 10: Top 7 second/amateur teams in football
(Hertha BSC II which almost won the DFB Pokal, Real Madrid Castilla who lost to their first team in the spanish cup in 1980 but got into Europe, Wellington Phoenix Reserves who play in the NZ National League)
I love your videos 🙏🏼👍🏼
“His role in two European titles” conveniently ignoring Kepa winning us the UEL, Super Cup, now taking us to the EFL Cup final.
Lakaka should be there instead of Kepa
How is Torres not on this list
I am a Chelsea fan and I approve this list. Jesus Christ, Danny Drinkwater for £35m, what were we thinking...
He was actually quite decent at Leicester
@@Raheem_925 He was decent at the Chelsea too when he got to play his first season (even got a MoM award for one of the first games he played), but the when the manager changed he got dropped out of the first team squad - so was never given the opportunity to play. Wasted what should have been his peak years as a footballer was 27 at the time of the move, should have stayed at Leicester.
Great content keep up
Is it just me or does it feel like HITC SEVENS will surpass HITC SPORTS before the end of the year?
I subscribed when this channel had just a little over 200,000 subscribers, and though I may not agree with Alfie's political views (I'm Nigerian and Christian hence incredibly conservative), but I still enjoy the videos a lot.
I think Alfie has made me into a football hipster of sorts (borrowing the Irish Guy's words 😅).
I think people have (surprisingly...) missed the point of the video. It isn't a video about which players are the worst regarding performance, but instead the worst signing - price tag, sell on value, etc are also included as well as performance. Yeah Kepa has had a few good games recently. That doesn't take away from the fact he cost more than the likes of Alisson, was poor when he played, got displaced from the team after two seasons and will have around 50% sell-on value. He's a poor signing.
Kepa being on this list is a bit silly.
Imagine paying that much money for a cup keeper
After Kepa’s performances this season, this video isn’t going to age well
His performances haven't been worth the price tag.
A key figure in our 0-7 drubbing by Fulham the other night was old Danny.
We actually have more fans on UA-cam, shocked honestly. Urz
'Satanic Santa Claus' 🤣
I think Marko Marin deserves a mention he was regarded as a better player than Ozil when he joined he flopped every time he played even out on loan as well.
Drinkwater's transfer is the universe balancing itself for Chelsea getting Kante of us for £30m.
Same phenomenon happened to us 2011 when we paid £25m for Suarez and £35m for Carroll on the same day. Nature has a weird way of working itself out
What happened to the "... should you wish to do so" at the end🤔
anyone can remember Pierluigi Casiraghi, came with huge reputation and scored only a goal for Chelsea then injured against West Ham game which destroyed his career.
as a Leicester fan, when the news broke that we got 35 mil for Drinkwater, every Leicester fan saw the Does He Know? meme flash before their eyes.
The fact that this list does not have Bakayoko on it is alarming. He is by far the worst player I have seen in a Chelsea shirt. His performance away at Watford was so bad, it was almost performance art.

Shitting on the city as we goooooooo

Was agreeing until Kepa

Chelsea will forever regret not giving certain players like KDB and Salah chances.
I saw the Thumbnail and thought it was Jenson Button...lol. I was like "Wait Button drove for McClaren when Chelsea sponsored Sauber"
